Death… And Me

Chapter 3801: Background

Chapter 3801: Background

"You better not be fooling me," Kunprio told Danra on his side. "Otherwise, I guarantee your ending will be worse than those Umbras from earlier."

Danra was cursing Renkan nonstop. She only got into this situation because she accepted his invitation to go look for Erxando. Of course, she had no one to complain to anymore. Renkan, Gidui, Ranwrui, and Vravrin were all killed by Kunprio when he found out they had no more use for him.

As for Danra, her detection skill was the only reason she was still alive. "Yes, senior. I’m not lying. Erxando and his Level One Umbra are still moving, but they just separated. At the moment, we are flying after Erxando, who was the Level Three Umbra. That Level One Umbra is flying in another direction." Her head was working at full speed, trying to think of any way to escape death.

Then, they stopped, allowing Danra to use her skill again. "Erxando seems to be changing direction as he flies, senior."

Kunprio found it weird that he still couldn’t detect this Umbra called Erxando. He should have no issues seeing Umbras with his Divine Sense. Yet, Erxando was different. ’Well, the core was destroyed even though no Umbras should be able to get close to it. I guess it makes sense that this Umbra has some cards under his sleeve.’

---

Big beads of sweat ran down from Roan’s face as he was reaching his limit with Rean’s Divine Sense Bending Skill. Kunprio was just way too fast for him, and his only consolation was that Kunprio often stopped, giving him some time to take more distance. Nonetheless, that wouldn’t last long due to how much distance Kunprio could cover after every stop. It was definitely much more than Roan could.

Flying even faster in the opposite direction, there were Rean and Kentucky. Rean was feeling nervous. Not that Roan would be caught, but that the Dimensional Realm really had pretty much no Light Element anymore. The Celestial Realm Expert was forcing both Rean and Roan to spend a huge amount every second just to bend the Divine Sense alone.

If a fight were to start now, there would not be enough Light Element to create Bright Red Lightning ot use any other Light Element skill. Of course, it would be meaningless anyway. Even in tip-top condition, the twins’ group had no hope of winning. In fact, they wouldn’t last more than a second or two.

[Roan, come back in!] Sister Orb warned. [Your bending is about to break. Once that happens, that guy will concentrate the Celestial Laws around you, and you will die in an instant!]

Roan refused. ’Not now! It’s not enough!’

Finally, Roan’s Divine Sense Bending failed to stop Kunprio, and a Divine Sense Message echoed in his mind in the next instant. ’There you are!’

*Brummmm...*

The Celestial Laws of Fire immediately gathered around Roan, creating a cage of flames. Roan tried to break it with his Dark Element and Laws, but they were both destroyed easily, not a single gap appearing in that prison.

Now that Kunprio knew where to go, he didn’t waste time and flew at full speed. In a matter of seconds, Kunprio arrived at his cage of flames, pulling it close with Roan inside.

Erxando, who was attached to Roan, felt like crying already. That was the end for him, too. Of course, he wouldn’t just sit down and allow himself to die. He quickly detached himself from Roan, kneeling in midspace. "Sir, I was forced to hide them. This has nothing to do wit-"

*Arrrghhh!*

"Hmph!" Kunprio didn’t give Erxando a chance to finish his words. Celestial Laws of Fire gathered once again, consuming Erxando in the next moment. There was only a scream, and Erxando was gone forever.

Danra looked at that and felt even more overwhelmed. She brought Kumprio here as ordered, but now she might have no use for him anymore. "S-Sir! There was also that other Level One Umbra. Shall I try to detect where he went?"

Kunprio glanced at her. "Shut your mouth before I erase you, too."

Danra didn’t say anything else. She wasn’t disappointed with Kunprio’s words, though. At least it seemed he wasn’t going to kill her. Perhaps what she said changed his mind for the moment.

Kunprio, ignoring Danra, looked at Roan. "I should have killed you straight away, but I first need some answers."

*Tsssss!*

The Celestial Laws of Fire and Fire Element encircled Roan, starting to burn him from the outside. The Yang Energy quickly entered Roan’s body, doing the same from the inside.

Roan should have retreated to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm straight away when the bending failed. However, Rean and Kentucky were still way too close, so he was forced to stay outside to gain them some time. Fortunately, he had his special killing intent sight. When Kunprio found him, Roan didn’t see the Red Color of Killing Intent surrounding him. That meant Kunprio had no intention to kill him at that moment.

Roan’s body was burning, but his expression didn’t even flinch. "Why are you wasting time with questions? Shouldn’t you have just killed me and used soul search instead?"

Kunprio was surprised by Roan’s tenacity. But, above all, he was surprised by how slowly Roan’s body was burning. It definitely was taking a lot of damage, but nothing compared to other experts at Roan’s level. "Now, that’s a very interesting Body Cultivation Technique you have there. To think you could resist my powers to this extent."

"As for your question, I could indeed read your memories with a Soul Search. However, being able to destroy the core of the Banishing Light isn’t something just anyone can do, especially since the Werdlem Empire is in charge. Not to mention, your concealing skill was incredible, better than anything I know. For you to take such a risk and have such resources means you likely have some background," Kunprio explained.

"Of course, that is only for the moment. You have a chance to tell the truth. Otherwise, I will destroy your body and ask your soul, regardless of who is supporting you in this endeavor. I’m under direct orders of the Werdlem Empire, so I’m not afraid of whatever repercussions. This Universe is that important for the top echelon of the Empire."

Roan mentally mocked the guy. His ability to detect Killing Intent truly was useful in many ways. All he had to do now was to buy Rean and Kentucky some time. "I guess the cat is out of the bag. I obviously don’t want to die. Where do you want me to start? With the elder behind me, or the reason to destroy the core?" And so, Roan started his bullshit.
