Chapter 3911: Walking Out

Chapter 3911: Walking Out

“If it’s broken, then it needs to be reconnected,” Lu Yin muttered to himself.

“How do you reconnect it?” An unfamiliar woman’s voice reached his ears.

Lu Yin’s expression changed, and he slowly let out a breath. “Senior Greater Sancte Awe Gate?”

“Mhm.”

“Given your wisdom, Senior, it shouldn’t be hard to reconnect their cultivation path. Open the Skyward Gate and allow the Spirit Nidus’s cultivators who reach a certain level, or who pass a certain test, to join the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”

“Qing Cao is an Immortal, and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse cannot control him. Essentially, Immortality is the end of their path.”

“But Immortality is much too ethereal a goal.” Lu Yin’s eyes then lit up slightly. “All along, the Spirit Nidus has had the legend that resetting a megaverse grants Immortality. Did the Nine Odysseys Megaverse offer them this path long ago?”

“It was merely done in passing.”

Lu Yin was amazed. “So, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had already considered this day long ago... Then why ask me to deal with this?”

“Looking down or looking up shows different things. Perhaps you have a better solution. Or was all that talk earlier about putting the human race first nothing more than a lie to deceive us?”

Lu Yin frowned. “Their path can be reconnected, but they’ve lost their conviction. Before, the people of the Spirit Nidus believed that cultivating would give them better, longer lives. Even if they failed to ever achieve Immortality, they still strove for it. However, they now have to face the fact that, the stronger they become, the easier it is for them to be harvested by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Their dream of reaching the Immortal realm has become nothing but a castle in the sky.

“In order to reconnect their path, it’s necessary to restore their conviction.”

“Correct,” Greater Sancte Awe Gate said.

Lu Yin continued, saying, “Then the narrative just needs to be changed. Turn the Nine Odysseys Megaverse from their pillagers into their saviors.”

“How?”

“The Tianyuan is currently dealing with the threat of the Nest civilization. I suggest that we shift that crisis over to the Spirit Nidus. The Spirit Nidus has lost too many experts recently, and they might not be able to hold out. When the time comes, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse will open the Skyward Gate and defend the Spirit Nidus, saving their megaverse,” Lu Yin said.

“You are merely saving the Tianyuan Megaverse. You have ulterior motives.”

“And yet this would also help the Spirit Nidus. Otherwise, even if the Nine Odysseys Megaverse restores the Spirit Nidus’s cultivation path, the people there won’t feel any gratitude. As time passes, they’ll suffer more and more because they’ll become less useful to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. It will become easier for them to be abandoned.”

“They won’t be abandoned.”

Lu Yin’s eyes flickered.

“Because they are also human,” Greater Sancte Awe Gate concluded.

Lu Yin fell silent. Sure enough, Immortals had a different perspective from those who had not reached that level. If even Lu Yin could say something like “the human race comes first,” then naturally an Immortal could see the bigger picture even more clearly. Abandoning the Spirit Nidus would only mean abandoning more people in the future.

“We need the Spirit Nidus to forget this matter. They must forget the truth.”

Lu Yin did not know how to accomplish that. The Spirit Nidus was an entire megaverse, not some place like the Perennial World. In the Tianyuan, the Perennial World’s four ruling powers had succeeded in forcing everyone to forget about the Lu family, but such a method could not possibly be applied to the entire Spirit Nidus.

Xing Fan had not been entirely wrong about one thing; without sacrificing several generations of cultivators, it would be impossible to erase this incident from the Spirit Nidus.

Just what was Master Qing Cao even thinking? If he was behind the upheaval in the Spirit Nidus, then he had essentially pushed his entire megaverse into a corner.

“One more thing; a Nest has already appeared in the Spirit Nidus,” said Greater Sancte Awe Gate.

Lu Yin was startled. “There’s already a Nest there? Where did it come from?”

“Greater Sancte Green Lotus looked into this. It came from the Tianyuan Megaverse.”

Lu Yin was shocked, his mind started racing. It’s from the Tianyuan? How did it get there? Who took it? This matches all too well with what I’d been considering.

“The Spirit Nidus is already seeing a crisis due to the Nests. They simply have not yet realized it.”

“What about Master Qing Cao? Doesn’t he know about the threat of the Nests? Even if the Nine Odysseys Megaverse ignores this matter, there’s no way that man would ignore the danger to the Spirit Nidus.”

“He’s not present. He went to chase away an Immortal beast.”

“An Immortal beast?”

“It shouldn’t be unknown to you.”

Lu Yin blurted, “The Immortal monster that was chasing me? But wasn’t it blocking the path to the Tianyuan through the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm?”

“Is that what Greater Sancte Green Lotus told you? Then... that’s where it went.”

“...What’s really going on?”

Greater Sancte Awe Gate did not answer.

“How long has Master Qing Cao been gone? Did he leave before or after the Spirit Nidus started to descend into chaos?”

“Before.”

“Then does everything that’s happening there have nothing to do with him?”

“I don’t know about that. After all, this is something that was planned out too long ago. No one but him could have pulled such a thing off.”

Suddenly, Yong Heng’s name flashed through Lu Yin’s mind. No one else could have pulled such a thing off? Wrong—Yong Heng could. Lan is the Ascendant Hall’s steward, which means that her status is in no way inferior to the Seven Seraphs’. She could have accomplished a great deal.

Yong Heng’s plans stretched further into the future than anyone else’s. He had plotted against the Origin Progenitor and the ancient Heavens Sect, but before that, he had left Lan behind in the Spirit Nidus to carry out his schemes there. It was certainly possible that Yong Heng was behind everything.

With the recent reappearance of Netherfiends, Lu Yin would not believe that Yong Heng had nothing to do with recent events even if the man was already dead.

Lu Yin was convinced that Yong Heng had already entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but as to where he was and what he was plotting, no one could say.

The Greater Sancti were Immortals, but they were not omnipotent. If they were, how could they have not found Netherfiends after so many years?

The more that Lu Yin considered the situation, the more that he was convinced that the upheaval in the Spirit Nidus had nothing to do with Master Qing Cao. That man would have never willingly forced the Spirit Nidus into such a corner.

“Where have Greater Sancte Green Lotus and Greater Sancte Blood Tower gone?” Lu Yin asked.

Again, Greater Sancte Awe Gate did not answer.

Lu Yin stared out from the Skyward Gate. While others could choose to avoid the situation in the Spirit Nidus, Lu Yin was tasked with resolving it.

Did the Spirit Nidus really need to remain ignorant and forget all that had happened?

Lu Yin stood in the Skyward Gate for ten entire days. After that, he took a step forward, leaving the Skyward Gate and moving towards the people from the Spirit Nidus.

There were cultivators everywhere outside the Skyward Gate, but despite their numbers, the region was unusually quiet.

People’s eyes were filled with hate, fear, and confusion. They had gathered to attack the Skyward Gate not because they were courageous, but rather because they had no other way out. If they did not stand up and try to resist the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, the Spirit Nidus would have no future.

Sometimes, seeing something would change one’s entire perspective compared to their old ignorance.

Most of the people gathered before the Skyward Gate hated the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but there were also some who hated those who had exposed the truth. Those people would have preferred to live their whole lives in ignorance. Instead, they had been forced to gather outside the Skyward Gate, possibly just one breath away from death.

When they had previously attacked the Skyward Gate before, countless people had ended up killed or injured, and yet they had failed to catch so much as a glimpse of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s power’s true limits.

Conviction was important, but so was life. In fact, life was so important that some people were no longer able to stand their ground.

This was why the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had not paid too much mind to the situation outside of the Skyward Gate. However, if the entire Spirit Nidus truly united, even the Immortal Greater Sancti would have to take them seriously.

Lu Yin moved out from the Skyward Gate, and he was soon seen by the people from the Spirit Nidus. People’s expressions instantly changed. “Seraph Lu?”

“Third Boss?”

“He’s here?”

...

The people from the Spirit Nidus were thrown into an uproar. No one had expected to see Lu step out from the Skyward Gate.

Boundless had simply vanished during the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse. While two of the Spirit Nidus’s universe-class battleships had been destroyed, the rest had been dragged back home by their invincible being. However, because Lu Yin had never appeared again, many had assumed him to be dead.

Despite many years passing, Lu Yin’s legends had never been forgotten, so his sudden appearance stunned everyone from the Spirit Nidus.

They were all instantly reminded of what he had done while in the Spirit Nidus, especially his duel with Emperor Wu. That had been one of the grandest battles in the entire history of the Spirit Nidus, and people were still stunned by what had happened that day.

Lu Yin held a very special status in the Spirit Nidus. He was from the Tianyuan Megaverse, which should have made him an enemy of the Spirit Nidus, but through overwhelming power and various schemes, he had succeeded in suppressing the entire Spirit Nidus to the point where no one had dared to raise their heads before him. Later, the Wisdom Domain had confirmed that Lu Yin was a disciple of the invincible being, which had forced the Spirit Nidus to accept him. Even the High Seraph had never dared to make trouble for Lu Yin, and the young man had even managed to become one of the Seven Seraphs.

His appearance instantly caused the previously silent region before the Skyward Gate to be broken by an uproar.

Within the Skyward Gate, Ku Han and many others exchanged looks. They only realized at this moment why Lu Yin had been tasked with resolving the upheaval in the Spirit Nidus. Clearly, the man held an extraordinary place in the hearts of the people from that megaverse.

At the back of the crowd, Feng Bo stared in shock. Lu Yin? How could he have appeared here?

The man quickly concealed his aura. If he was noticed, there was no doubt that he would be killed.

Lu Yin stopped. He stood before the entire crowd from the Spirit Nidus and his gaze swept over them. They felt like his eyes were lingering on each and every one of them.

“All of you know me, don’t you?”

Someone stepped out in front of the rest of the crowd. It was Lan, the Ascendant Hall’s steward.

Her expression was grim, and Zi Tianshu was by her side. Behind her stood the Primal Beastland’s Yi Die and Jiu Weihu, as well as Rong Xiang from the Daquan Domain’s Chamber of Commerce, and all the others who represented the thirty-six domains. There were even several Dukkhans present. While there were not many, those who were present radiated powerful auras.

The Spirit Nidus could not compare to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. In the Spirit Nidus, Dukkhans stood at the peak of the megaverse. Such experts were qualified to compete for the title of the Seven Seraphs, which was one of the most prestigious titles in the Spirit Nidus.

Above Dukkhans stood the Seven Seraphs, though none of those individuals had chosen to join the attacks on the Skyward Gate.

Zhan Ming had sealed himself inside the Gate of Laws, while Yi Shang and Yuan Qi had both gone with Boundless to the Tianyuan. Meng Sang and Old Salamander been imprisoned in the Champions’ Stage Purgatory and later sealed in a Zenith Mountain, never to see daylight again. Jiu Xian had returned to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, which meant that Su Shidao was the only Seraph who was still freely walking about the Spirit Nidus. However, he had refrained from getting involved in the current matter.

There was no denying that the situation was rather pitiful.

The once-grand Spirit Nidus’s High Seraph was in the Consciousness Megaverse, and not a single one of the Seven Seraphs were present at the Skyward Gate. Instead, they were being led by a mere steward. If not for the fact that he knew Lan’s true identity, Lu Yin would have laughed.

At its peak, if the High Seraph had led all Seven Seraphs to attack the Skyward Gate, they would have posed a threat incomparable to the current mustered forces.

Lan and the others faced Lu Yin and offered him bows. “Greetings, Seraph Lu.”

“Greetings, Seraph Lu.”

“Greetings, Seraph Lu...”

Zi Tianshu also bowed, his expression more solemn than ever. Lu Yin... had actually entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

Who was Lu Yin? He was the ruthless man who, upon arriving in the Consciousness Megaverse, had captured everyone from the Spirit Nidus to use them as bargaining chips with the High Seraph. Later, the High Seraph had been defeated, which had made Lu Yin the Spirit Nidus’s top expert. If not for the appearance of their invincible being, Lu Yin would still hold that title.

Even after the invincible being appeared, Lu Yin remained alive and well. That was far beyond anything the High Seraph could hope to achieve.

Lu Yin’s arrival made the hearts of everyone from the Spirit Nidus drop.

That was because most of those present at the Skyward Gate had participated in the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse. Their exceptional strength was what had prompted them to go challenge the Skyward Gate. However, that same excellence meant that they knew exactly what kind of person Lu Yin was.

In just a moment, the entire atmosphere had shifted.

The bloodlust that had previously filled the area instantly dissipated, all because people had laid eyes on Lu Yin.
