Star Odyssey

Chapter 3907: Gathering

Chapter 3907: Gathering

The wind blew, picking up Dan Jin’s hair and ruffling it about.

Lu Yin was silent for a moment. Dan Jin would not lie to him at such a time, which meant that she really had made such a comment to the Greater Sancti. She had spoken up to defend the Tianyuan.

Gu Duanke’s voice reached Lu Yin’s ears. “Mr. Lu, most people in our megaverse don’t understand Dan Jin’s strength, and generally, people believe that she’s weaker than most peak Dukkhans. Even so, no one objected to her becoming a Lesser Sancte, and there’s a simple reason why. Of the five most recent Lesser Sancti, Dan Jin has the greatest reputation.

“She is someone who is willing to speak on behalf of even her own enemies, because what she truly values is the stability of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”

Lu Yin thought back to what Jiu Xian had told him, such as how she had refused to let Dan Jin get involved in the conflict between Yue Ya, Lu Yin, and the High Seraph. When Jiu Xian had first made that comment, Lu Yin had not thought anything of it, but in hindsight, if Gu Duanke’s description of the woman was accurate, then she certainly deserved his respect.

Of course, from the High Seraph’s perspective, the woman was a formidable enemy, as she was determined to replace him.

Her previous target had been the High Seraph, but she had most likely moved on to Lu Yin.

At that moment, the birds above the Frightened Sparrow Terrace cried out, silencing all sound.

Qing Yun stood tall in the Frightened Sparrow Terrace and looked down. “By decree of Greater Sancte Awe Gate, Lu Yin, Xing Fan, Dan Jin, Gu Duanke, Wu Cheng, Bai Xia, Jue Ling, and Ku Ji are all to ascend to the Frightened Sparrow Terrace.”

Her voice rang across the sky and the ground below, and as she spoke, a massive gate suddenly appeared in front of Lu Yin and Gu Duanke.

Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. He looked past Dan Jin and Xing Fan and towards the top of the Mother Tree. The Frightened Sparrow Terrace? He had not expected to visit it under such circumstances.

Was he finally about to meet Greater Sancte Awe Gate?

Dan Jin gave Lu Yin a long, intense look before turning towards the massive gate behind her and walking through. The gate before Lu Yin and Gu Duanke led straight to the Frightened Sparrow Terrace, which meant that they did not need to climb the Mother Tree.

Xing Fan glanced at Lu Yin, hatred and fear filling her eyes. She followed close behind the other Lesser Sancte.

Gu Duanke moved up next to Lu Yin. “This is going to be a judgement. The leaders of the most powerful factions in the four domains were just summoned.”

Lu Yin was surprised: “The leaders of the top factions?”

Gu Duanke nodded. “In the east, the Dream Domain’s Wu Shang has disappeared, so Wu Cheng is treated as the temporary sect master. In the South Domain, Bai Xia oversees the Scion Spire. In the West Domain, Jue Ling, matriarch of Skyveil City’s Jue family, is their leader. And finally, in the north, Ku Ji represents Ku Deng as the leader of the Rift of Suffering. Greater Sancte Awe Gate doesn’t plan to make a decision on her own, but is rather leaving this to those below her.

“But why is she calling me? If I’m being summoned, why aren’t the other Odyssey Commanders going?” Gu Duanke was a little puzzled about his own involvement.

Lu Yin said, “Let’s go.”

He walked towards the gate.

His consciousness had reached the Frightened Sparrow Terrace earlier, but his body could not move at the same speed as his consciousness unless he used Immortal matter. He would need some time to physically reach the crown of the Mother Tree, so since a gate had appeared, he would use that instead.

Gu Duanke let out a sigh. He looked beyond exhausted at this moment, but he still followed behind Lu Yin.

Countless people looked up in envy. No matter the reason behind it, meeting a Greater Sancte was regarded as a blessing.

In the East Domain, a group of children were playing in a withered forest, laughing as a man chased after them. “Stop, you little rascals! This forest is dangerous. Don’t run!”

“Haha! Daddy, you can’t catch me! You can’t!”

“Stop!”

One child ran too fast, and a gate suddenly appeared right in front of him. The man grew pale when he saw that the child was about to crash into the gate. “Watch out!”

The expected crash never happened. Instead, a hand appeared in front of the child, stopping him.

The child stared blankly at the hand and then looked past it. In the middle of a pile of dried leaves, a vaguely human figure could be made out, and two eyes were staring at the child. The strange light of the gate illuminated an eerie smile.

The child screamed, “A ghost!”

The man was also frightened, but he still ran over and scooped the child into his arms. He then fled without so much as a backwards glance.

At the gate, the hand scratched the figure’s head, scattering the dried leaves to reveal an old man with weathered features. “A ghost? Where? Don’t scare people like that! People can be frightened to death like that. I’d better hurry along before a ghost really does show up.

“Sigh. Despite sitting here for so many years, why hasn’t Master returned yet? Why’s Greater Sancte Awe Gate calling me now? It was fine to let the world think I was dead, wasn’t it? ...Come to think of it, that little brat couldn’t have meant me when he screamed ‘ghost,’ did he? That’s scary. I’m out! I’m out!”

In the South Domain, a young man was strolling across the land. He looked up at the sky and let out a disgruntled snort.

A maid followed close behind, carrying a sword. When she heard the man’s snort, she softly asked, “Young Master, what’s wrong?”

“That Lu Yin is stirring up more trouble. Why summon me? I can’t beat him, and if I say something wrong, I’ll simply stir up trouble for nothing.”

The maid was taken aback. “Is there actually someone you admit you can’t beat, Young Master?”

“Nonsense.”

“Then... Young Master, shall I change weapons?”

“Yes.”

“To what?”

“A spear.”

“Alright.” The maid proceeded to put the sword away and remove a long spear from her cosmic ring. While carrying it, she looked rather awkward.

The two continued their slow walk, but they moved into the sky. Above them hovered a gate, shadowing their movements.

In the West Domain, in the Jue family’s estate, Jue Ling worriedly massaged her forehead.

“Mother, Greater Sancte Awe Gate has summoned you, so please leave soon. You can’t keep her waiting. The gate’s been here for some time now,” Jue Rou urged.

Beside her, Jue Qing added, “You might not even meet Greater Sancte Awe Gate. Still, keeping Miss Qing Yun waiting isn’t a good thing either.”

Jue Ling sighed. “This is Lu Yin and Xing Fan’s conflict, so why summon me? Normally, Yu Jing would be the one to go.”

Jue Rou shot a guilty glance at her sister, silently questioning if this was because she had been the one to inform Lu Yin of the situation.

“Mother, do you not want to see Greater Sancte Awe Gate?” Jue Qing asked.

Jue Ling shook her head. “Meeting a Greater Sancte is a great honor, but the fact that we are being summoned right now clearly indicates that judgment for what just happened is about to be given out. Offending either party won’t go well for us.”

“That won’t happen. Mr. Lu certainly won’t blame you, so if you’re afraid of offending Xing Fan and Dan Jin, just say that Lu Yin was wrong,” Jue Rou interjected.

Jue Ling glared at her younger daughter. “Don’t be ridiculous. Do you think that Lu Yin is a kind man? Offending him would be much worse. Have you forgotten what happened to the Cheng family? Don’t think that getting to know him for a few days gives you the freedom to act rashly. He’s not someone whom we can offend. Our Jue family is still far from strong enough to ignore him.”

Jue Rou stuck out her tongue, but she stopped speaking.

She was absolutely certain that Lu Yin would not hold a grudge towards the Jue family, but that was only because Jue Rou had been the one to inform him of what was happening.

In the North Domain, Ku Ji headed out, but before leaving, he glanced at the Skyward Gate and ordered the people of the Rift of Suffering to carefully protect the gate.

The current Skyward Gate was completely different from when the Luo family had stood guard over it. Previously, it had been a majestic place. Now with the Rift of Suffering standing guard, there was no doubt that the sect was far more powerful, but their attitude had ruined the gate’s glorious image. There were people randomly lying around or crouching on the ground. There were even a few who were hanging upside down.

This casual behavior left the people of the Spirit Nidus speechless. They could not understand how such a bizarre group existed in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

Despite their lackadaisical attitudes, they possessed terrifying strength.

A massive gate rose high into the sky in the Frightened Sparrow Terrace.

Lu Yin stood to one side of the gate and curiously observed his surroundings. Having quelled his anger, he was quite intrigued by the Frightened Sparrow Terrace, particularly the birds.

Unless he was mistaken, Qing Yun had once invited him to this place, offering him a chance to ask the Greater Sancte a question. However, he had no idea when that event was supposed to take place.

It appeared that he would not need that opportunity.

Gu Duanke stood ramrod straight beside Lu Yin, and he did not dare to even move. The entire terrace was under the watchful eyes of an Immortal Greater Sancte, and the Odyssey Commander’s rigid behavior was a sharp contrast to Lu Yin’s relaxed attitude.

Across from them, Dan Jin and Xing Fan also stood silently. No one spoke a word to anyone else.

Others soon arrived. The first was Ku Ji. He calmly stood beneath the massive gate, just a bit to the side. He refused to look at anyone.

The next to arrive was Jue Ling. She glanced at Dan Jin and Xing Fan, who both refused to look at any of the others who were present, and then quietly waited. This was the habitual behavior of those who routinely reported to the Greater Sancti.

Jue Ling then looked at Lu Yin, who happened to meet her gaze.

Jue Ling gave a slight nod, intending to make a friendly gesture.

At that moment, an old man arrived. His clothes were extremely plain, and there was a dried leaf on top of his head. “This old man is Wu Cheng. It’s been a long time, everyone.”

Jue Ling glanced at the old man and moved to the side of the gate, just like Ku Ji. She chose a location a little bit farther away, ensuring that she did not stand close to anyone.

Lu Yin curiously observed Wu Cheng. So, is this the current sect master of the Dream Domain? He wondered if the man knew about Wu Jie.

“It’s been a long time, old friend.” Gu Duanke greeted Wu Cheng, receiving a smile.

“I almost failed to see you again.”

“How so?”

“This old man nearly buried himself.”

Dan Jin stared at Wu Cheng. “How have things been for your Dream Domain lately? You should keep Wu Jie in check. He gets a bit too unruly at times.”

Wu Cheng chuckled. “Someone already helped me to settle that. Quite well too, I might add.”

That caught everyone off guard. Were there actually people who dared to move against someone from the Dream Domain?

Wu Cheng did not elaborate on his comment. He merely smiled as he stood a distance from the others.

Finally, Bai Xia arrived. His maid did not follow him through the gate, and she waited just outside the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. The young man was carrying a long spear, and he had a thoroughly annoyed expression on his face.

Lu Yin noticed that each person present had a distinct aura. It was clear to him that the last to arrive had to be Bai Xia, the master of the Scion Spire.

Bang.

Bai Xia rested his spear on the ground and glanced around. “It reeks of blood. You have guts, killing someone in front of the Frightened Sparrow Terrace.”

He looked over at Lu Yin, who looked back.

Bai Xia gave a small smile. “Let’s be friends. I can’t beat you.”

Lu Yin was slightly taken aback. That’s certainly blunt enough.

Qing Yun then emerged from the void, and everyone looked over at her.

At this moment, she was representing Greater Sancte Awe Gate.

Qing Yun’s gaze swept over Lu Yin and then Xing Fan. “Greater Sancte Awe Gate already knows what just happened outside the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. While this could have originally been ignored, it is a fact that it happened before the terrace and also concerns the recent upheaval in the Spirit Nidus and the three megaverses. Who was right and who was wrong and how to resolve it is a decision that will be left to all of you.”

Wu Cheng and the others calmly looked at the young woman, everyone keeping their thoughts that this was none of their business to themselves.

Lu Yin looked over at Xing Fan, who stood across from him.

Hatred blazed in her eyes as she stepped forward. Facing the massive gate, she bowed. “Reporting to the Greater Sancte, I have already found a solution to the upheaval in the Spirit Nidus. This will completely eradicate the rebellion, and I have received support for this proposal from many cultivators in our Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Despite this, Lu Yin has taken advantage of his tremendous strength to slaughter those people, blocking a resolution to the problems in the Spirit Nidus. I suspect that he is behind the current issues, and I ask the Greater Sancte to mete out justice.”

Dan Jin frowned as she looked at Xing Fan.

Qing Yun blandly replied, “Lesser Sancte Xing Fan, this matter has already been reported to the Greater Sancti, and it is now up to them to decide. That is the justice that Greater Sancte Awe Gate offers. You should not bring this before the Greater Sancti a second time, but rather wait for them to give you a decision.”

Xing Fan looked up. “May I ask, Young Lady, what Lu Yin’s relationship with the Sea of Karma and Greater Sancte Green Lotus might be?”

This was Xing Fan’s only worry. If the Sea of Karma interfered, it would be impossible for her proposal to be carried out. That was also why the suggestion to reset the Tianyuan Megaverse had been proposed by Wen Jun and the others, as Xing Fan had wanted to avoid a direct confrontation with Lu Yin.
