Chapter 3853: Qiunan Family Of Stormmaws Roar

Chapter 3853: Qiunan Family Of Stormmaw's Roar

Ascend to the Origin realm. Overcome Dukkha. Gain Immortality

Lu Yin had taken the first of those final three steps.

His physical strength had increased a great deal. When Ancient God had stepped into the Origin realm, his battle force had transformed into Wielder - God battle force. As for Lu Yin, he had reached that stage far earlier. While his battle force did not undergo any change, his physical body had transformed.

Even he was no longer certain of just how strong he had become.

If only Mo Shang was here... He’d be perfect to test things out on.

As Lu Yin stared at the horizon, he wondered if the words that he had uttered during his breakthrough would stir up trouble in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. It seemed likely, but that was good if people targeted him. He could use a test.

Twelve years had passed since he had left the Sixth Night Pillar. For the first time in over a decade, Lu Yin took out his communication device and reached out to Lu Siyu. Surely, the Seven Fairies had decided on their tasks by this point in time.

No matter how well Greater Sancte Green Lotus treated him, Lu Yin was not conceited enough to believe that he would receive the Immortal’s support no matter what. He felt that it was better to make good on his promises, and that meant that it was necessary to complete the Seven Fairies’ tasks.

The communication device vibrated as Lu Siyu’s image appeared. She gave Lu Yin a look of curious surprise and carefully examined him from head to toe.

Lu Yin was puzzled by the reaction. “Why are you looking at me like that? Haven’t your sisters decided on their tasks by now?”

Lu Siyu blinked. “You’ve really never had a dull moment in your life.”

“What does that mean?”

“I’ve seen your past. You fought across universes, founded a sect, and so much more. You’re genuinely impressive.”

“You’re only realizing that now? Consider how you treated me in the past, don’t you regret it now?”

Lu Siyu rolled her eyes. “You’re still nothing compared to Master.”

Lu Yin laughed. “And yet I’m still something that you’ll never be able to compare to no matter how long you live!”

Lu Siyu fumed. “Can’t you show even a little decency when speaking?”

“What? Am I ruining your admiration for me?”

“Shameless!”

“Alright, let’s hear it. What’s the next task?” Lu Yin was in a good mood.

Lu Siyu's expression immediately turned serious. “My second sister’s task is that she wants you to take her to see the most beautiful sight in the entire megaverse.”

Lu Yin was stunned. “What?”

“You are to take my second sister to see the most beautiful sight in the entire megaverse. Simple, right?” Lu Siyu said.

Lu Yin frowned. Simple? No, this was incredibly difficult. What defined “the most beautiful”? What qualified as “most”? This task was entirely subjective.

Depending on the person, even an ordinary pebble could be the most beautiful sight in the megaverse. On the other hand, even all the stars in a universe might fail to meet the criteria.

“Your second sister is making things difficult for me,” Lu Yin said.

Lu Siyu shook her head. “She’s not making it hard for you. Even before you appeared, everyone who visited Skyveil City and wanted to propose to my second sister was given the same task: she wants to see the most beautiful sight in the megaverse.”

Lu Yin fell deep into thought.

“Take your time to think about it. Oh, and Sixth Sister is waiting for you at the Sixth Night Pillar. She wants to meet you.” With that, Lu Siyu’s image vanished.

Lu Yin put away the communication device. The second of the Seven Fairies was named Jue Qing, and she was the young mistress of the Skyveil City’s Jue family.

The most beautiful sight... It was a very difficult task for Lu Yin to complete.

However, he actually had the means to find the correct answer: use a karmic act to find a signpost. If she wanted to see the most beautiful sight in the megaverse, he could simply search for what she considered to be such a scene.

To do that, he needed to go to Skyveil City.

Lu Yin lazily stretched. The truth was that, even if Jue Qing did not have a task there, he had always intended to visit Skyveil City.

That was the Cheng family’s home, and there were a few debts that he needed to settle.

...

Lu Yin was currently in the East Domain, which was also where the Sixth Night Pillar stood. Far to the west, past the Mother Tree, there was another region of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse: the West Domain.

The West Domain was very different from the East Domain. Yellow sand filled the sky, while twisted, savage-looking trees sparsely dotted the landscape. Even so, vegetation thrived, growing in the sand, and oddly enough, there were streams that were even cleaner than those in the East Domain.

From time to time, people would burst out from the streams and leap straight into the yellow sand.

To outsiders, it was a bizarre sight, but it was considered perfectly normal in the West Domain.

At first glance, the yellow sand looked like flowing silk, and yet people frequently leapt in and out of the sand, as if it were a sea. Their movements ripped the appearance of silk to tatters.

Legends said that the yellow sand was a remnant of the Skyveil Megaverse, which had developed the method of carving with spiritual treasures. Supposedly, that technique lay hidden within the grains of yellow sand, and it could be obtained by those with fate. By comprehending the method, they would rise to prominence in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

But despite the legends, only the Cheng family had ever managed to actually master carving.

It did not matter if it was possible to master the method or not; what did matter was that the correct sand could be sold to the Cheng family at an astronomical price.

Unfortunately, the West Domain was vast and seemingly infinite, and the sand grains there outnumbered the number of stars in the universe. Finding the carving method hidden in the sand was harder than ascending to the heavens, and it depended solely on luck.

For this reason, many powerful families hired cultivators to search for the carving method in the sand. In the West Domain, this was a legitimate path to becoming rich.

In the distance, a city floated a hundred meters above the ground. In the West Domain, it was not possible to build cities directly atop the yellow sand. Doing so would result in the city being swallowed by the sand in no time at all.

At the very center of the West Domain stood Skyveil City. It was the only city in the West Domain that had been built directly on top of the yellow sand. Rumor had it that Skyveil City was connected to the roots of the Mother Tree, which prevented the city from being consumed.

Skyveil City was enormous, and it was also home to the vast majority of lockbreakers in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

During Lu Yin’s breakthrough to the Origin realm, the character "Vengeance" (仇) had fallen near Skyveil City, and everyone in the city had witnessed related scenes play out. The event had incited endless discussions.

It had not taken long for rumors to spread that someone from the Cheng family had offended the person whose Origin realm breakthrough had rocked the megaverse. Misfortune would soon befall that family.

These rumors had prompted many to distance themselves from the Cheng family.𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

It did not matter if the rumors were true or not; it would be better to steer clear of a potential conflict. Given the man’s ruthless behavior in the past, not only was the Cheng family likely doomed, but it was also possible that all who were associated with the family might be dragged down as well.

The Yu family was the source of all those rumors.

The Yu and Cheng families had been at odds for a very long time. No matter if it was in Skyveil City, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, or even in the Spirit Nidus, their conflict had never ceased.

The Yu family had established the Wisdom Domain in the Spirit Nidus, and they had claimed to be an era ahead of the rest of the megaverse. Their goal was to guide the Spirit Nidus along the path that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse wanted the megaverse to follow.

As for the Cheng family, they had sent people to Heavenspire to assist the Ru family, hoping to find an opportunity to replace the Yu family.

Both families’ people had been regarded as helpers to the Ru family.

However, as time passed, the families’ representatives in the Spirit Nidus had drifted away from Skyveil City, and the tension between the two families had gradually eased in the Spirit Nidus. The Ru family had maintained control over both sides and had never allowed any conflicts to escalate. Additionally, the presence of the High Seraph ensured that, even if the Wisdom Domain and the Cheng family were hostile to each other, they never had an opportunity to act on it.

Old Yu had had his own plans. He had wanted to return to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and rejoin the Yu family.

As for Cheng Gong, he harbored much greater ambitions. He sought to replace the Ru family and become a Lesser Sancte.

That was why Old Yu had never worked together or opposed Cheng Gong while Lu Yin had been in the Spirit Nidus. Each man had acted according to his own plans.

But Skyveil City was a different matter.

The Cheng family had become cold and started isolating themselves after Cheng Gong offended Lu Yin.

In contrast, the Yu family had been faring much better.

Still, the liveliest of the city’s three families remained the Jue family. So long as their second young mistress was around, it was impossible for their family to not attract attention.

In recent years, more and more visitors had approached them to propose a marriage with the Jue family.

But the family could not decide on Jue Qing’s marriage. She was supported by the Sea of Karma and was one of the Seven Fairies. The Jue family had no way to control the woman at all.

She never outright refused to marry, but her one, simple condition had stumped everyone.

She wanted to see the most beautiful sight in the megaverse.

“Second Sister, I told him your task. Do you think that he can complete it?”

In Skyveil City, Jue Qing was standing beneath the rugged city wall within the Jue family estate. She was staring out at the raging sands that stretched into the distance and calmly replied, “Doesn’t matter. If he can’t, so be it.”

Lu Siyu was curious about something. “Second Sister, just what is the most beautiful sight in the entire megaverse?”

Jue Qing continued to stare off into the distance. “I don’t know myself. That’s why I want to see it.”

“What if he really does manage to show you the most beautiful sight?”

“That would be wonderful.”

“And if he can’t? Will you really not allow him to complete your task?”

“Do you want me to let him complete it?”

Lu Siyu paused. “Honestly, he really is pretty decent.”

Jue Qing smiled, which caused her pale face to completely light up. A touch of beauty was added to the harsh wilderness in stark contrast to the swirling yellow sands. “Are you falling for him, Seventh Sister?”

“No!” Lu Siyu replied. “I just think that he’s not too bad. He has so many people who care about him, and he came to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse all alone, just to protect his home and prevent it from being destroyed. He’s a hero.”

Jue Qing said, “Yes, he is a hero. Don’t worry, I’ll let him complete the task.”

“Hehe, you never intended to make things difficult for him, did you?”

“Well, I’m not the one he touched, so it doesn’t matter.”

“...”

***

In the East Domain, Lu Yin returned to the Sixth Night Pillar to meet with Qiunan Hongye.

She instantly stood out from the rest of the crowd; her appearance was simply too distinctive.

She was wearing a tight-fitting red battlesuit. Her face was beautiful, her long hair was tied up high, and her eyes were covered with a black cloth. She was the first person anyone would look at.

Even if she was not one of the Seven Fairies, Qiunan Hongye would still be quite famous.

There was a family in the South Domain known as the Qiunan family of Stormmaw's Roar.

When the wind rises and clouds soar, the war drums roar: Stormmaw's Roar.

The Qiunan family was responsible for beating the Nine Odysseys’ war drums in battle. They were not dedicated to any one Night Pillar and instead belonged to all of the Nine Odysseys. Each Night Pillar had members of the Qiunan family present, and if a war drum was ever seen atop a Night Pillar, it would be accompanied by a member of the Qiunan family.

It was the most dangerous position, yet also the most inspiring.

Within the Nine Odysseys, there was a saying: “While the war drums roll, fight on, and you’ll never be the last to fall.”

The ancestral teaching of the Qiunan family was that they were always the last person to fall on any of the nine Night Pillars.

Throughout countless years, the Qiunan family had fought numerous wars with the Nine Odysseys, and they had lost far too many of their kin. While their family might not be one of the most powerful in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse in terms of numbers or cultivation, no one would ever dare to offend them. There were countless people who had been saved by members of the Qiunan family, and countless more greatly respected them.

Qiunan Hongye was a member of the family, and from birth, she had covered her eyes with a black cloth, blocking out all light. It was solely for the sake of mastering her family’s drum-based battle technique, Stormmaw's Roar. Everyone had believed her actions to be nothing more than the playing of a child and that she would only endure for a few days, but she had persisted for years.

In other words, Qiunan Hongye had never seen the world with her own eyes. Of her five basic senses, she had always been missing the sense of sight.

She had sacrificed her sight just to master the Stormmaw's Roar so that she could one day stand atop the Night Pillars and sound the drums for the people of her megaverse.

No matter what her personal cultivation level might be, there was no question that Qiunan Hongye was a true member of the Qiunan family.

Of the Seven Fairies, she was quite possibly the most respected within the Nine Odysseys.

She had also been the one to give Lu Yin the task of escorting Jian Hong to the Sixth Night Pillar.

Lu Yin could have chosen to not return to the Sixth Night Pillar, given that he had already completed his task, but he wanted to know why Qiunan Hongye wanted to speak with him. He also respected her family.

He was reminded of the many wars that he had fought in the Tianyuan. Those who beat the war drums were always tragic individuals, yet they were also always the most respected.
