Chapter 3812: That Young Lady

Chapter 3812: That Young Lady

Throughout the Autumnspring Slip, multiple eyes stared at a distant point. "The Spirit Coalition understands their place. If they truly disrupt this Worldscript, they'll never be able to bear the consequences."

"The Spirit Coalition might look powerful, but they’re nothing more than a pack of stray dogs from some foreign megaverses. They’re nothing to worry about. Still, if something happens to that Lang Ruyu here in Ridgeplain, the Five-Palm Sect might cause some trouble."

"The Five-Palm Sect has been declining for a long time. Ever since their third-generation master fell, nobody has taken them seriously again. They wouldn't dare to provoke us near the Autumnspring Slip."

"If they dare to show up again, I'll personally teach them a lesson," an old woman said, instantly silencing everyone nearby. They all looked at her with both respect and fear. Remarkably, this was the same old woman who had blocked Lu Yin at the Skyward Gate. She was known as Granny Ya, and she was one of the oldest members of the Autumnspring Slip. She was a peak Dukkhan who had achieved her power through Seed Transfusion. She was also the guardian of Qian Shu, who belonged to the Scion Spire.

In the distance, Qian Shu stood with his hands clasped behind his back. He exuded an extraordinary aura. With the Mother Tree framing the background, the young man looked practically divine as he casually chatted with the heirs of various factions.

Qian Shu conspicuously stood out from the rest of the crowd, and everyone looked at him reverently.

Being able to enter cryostasis in the Scion Spire meant that someone was a Young Sancte, which was a unique status within the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. With the additional support of the Autumnspring Slip, very few could compare to Qian Shu throughout the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

With a faint smile on his face, Qian Shu spoke casually, openly ignoring both the Spirit Coalition and the Five-Palm Sect, which drew great admiration from those who could see him.

Suddenly, he turned to look in another direction. His eyes lit up, while his expression softened noticeably. "I assume that the recent commotion disturbed you. Should I have them captured and brought back here to apologize?"

Everyone turned to look, only to be stunned by the astonishing beauty of the young lady whom Qian Shu had addressed. She seemed to be separated from the rest of the world by an invisible chasm. She was visible, yet unreachable: ethereal and isolated.

Even the other women nearby did not dare to feel the slightest bit of jealousy, while the men forcibly suppressed their admiration and desire. No one revealed even a hint of lust. This woman held a status that was too far above theirs. Even someone like Qian Shu fell far short.

"There’s no need." Those few words managed to instantly calm everyone's hearts. The woman’s eyes never settled on anyone, and she instead simply gazed off into the distance, lost in her unknown thoughts.

Qian Shu responded with a gentle smile. "As you wish."

The moment the young lady appeared, no one had noticed that Granny Ya had bent into a deep bow, unwilling to so much as raise her eyes in front of the young woman. It was exceedingly odd behavior for a peak Dukkhan, and yet it was entirely reasonable in front of this young woman.

She was an existence who was intended to stand above all others. By birth, she was a supreme noble, with absolutely no comparison.

She was like a ray of light that illuminated the entire sky as it sliced through the history of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. The moment that she appeared, the megaverse had had one more Young Sancte.

...

Beyond Ridgeplain, the battle continued. Numerous experts from the Spirit Coalition attacked the Five-Palm Sect’s Lang Ruyu, and the battle drew an entire crowd of onlookers.

The Five-Palm Sect was entirely unique in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. While everyone else revered the Lesser Sancti, that sect’s goal was to dethrone them. Their existence was simply baffling.

"I heard that the current sect master of the Five-Palm Sect is trying to change the sect's behavior, right?"

"That’s right, but he’s trying to change their attitude, rather than their goal. The current sect master, Lord Ting Chao, has been working to improve the sect’s reputation of being complete brutes. That’s why they haven’t stirred up as much trouble in recent years. That’s all their sect master’s doing. Still, regardless of who their sect master might be, their core mission of overthrowing the Lesser Sancti will never change. It’s simply impossible to alter that."

"The Five-Palm Sect is always more than ruthless, but what happened this time?"

"No idea. Still, while this matches their typical style, something feels off."

Far away, Lang Ruyu dodged attacks while using a communication device to contact others. "You old bastard, what happened? What did you guys do? Things here are ridiculous!"

A calm voice replied through the device, "Don't panic. I've already sent some junior brothers to rescue you. We have nothing to do with what happened, and we can explain."

"Then start explaining! I'm about to be destroyed here!"

"They wouldn’t dare. The Spirit Coalition won’t go so far. At worst, they'll just capture you. Consider this a good time to temper your personality."

"I'll fucking temper it, just hurry up! I don’t want to die!" Lang Ruyu put his communication device back away as he turned around, only to see an arrow flying straight for him. He let out an odd yelp as he quickly dodged. They won’t dare try to kill me? These bastards! Once everything’s cleared up, they’re going to pay!

Elsewhere, far from Ridgeplain, Si Jiushi’s expression grew dark within his carriage. He had already reported everything that had happened to his master, Lord Ting Chao, and the sect master wanted Si Jiushi to travel to Ridgeplain to explain things. Explain what? Who’s going to listen to me? That palm strike can’t be fake. If the Spirit Coalition hadn’t already confirmed it as the Five-Palm Art, they wouldn’t have reacted so dramatically. The only way to explain things is to bring in that guy, but I’m not going to do that, not even if I have ten more lives.

Si Jiushi doubted that even his entire Five-Palm Sect working together could capture that man.

Even so, he had no choice but to move towards Ridgeplain. Hang in there, Uncle Lang. Your nephew is coming! “Hey! Can’t you go any slower? Are we rushing to a brothel or something? Slow down!”

In a different direction, the orchid leaf was also moving quite slowly.

Ming Xiaolong occasionally reached out to people, seemingly trying to verify something.

Lu Yin guessed that she was simply waiting for the woman that she had mentioned to leave Ridgeplain.

He had repeatedly asked who the woman was, but Ming Xiaolong refused to ever give an answer.

She did, however, share a bit about the Orchid Megaverse. What caught Lu Yin’s attention the most was the fact that the megaverse had also had a Mother Tree.

While their Mother Tree had not been as large as the one in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, there was no question that it had truly been a Mother Tree.

The reason why the Orchid Megaverse had been destroyed was that it had been moving, which was a highly unusual situation. Lu Yin had never thought that it would be possible for a megaverse to move.

The Orchid Megaverse’s movement might have potentially attracted unknown civilizations. Even a place as powerful as the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had no wish to rashly make contact with unknown civilizations, particularly because the Orchid Megaverse’s Mother Tree had produced a type of miasma that was harmless to the megaverse’s native life but deadly to humans.

Ultimately, there had been multiple reasons for why the Sixth and Seventh Night Pillars had destroyed the Orchid Megaverse.

Just two Night Pillars had been enough to destroy an entire megaverse. The Orchid Megaverse had not been particularly strong, and they had moved across the Aevum Inch solely due to their ignorance.

The greater the ignorance, the greater the fearlessness.

The Orchid Megaverse had had a Mother Tree, just like the Nine Odysseys, the Spirit Nidus, and the Tianyuan megaverses. However, where did the trees come from? Why did every megaverse seem to have one? As for the odd one out, why did the Consciousness Megaverse not have such a tree?

There had to be some connection between the Mother Trees and their respective megaverses.

"Pick up the pace," Lu Yin urged in an impatient tone. "At this speed, forget a few days, but we won't arrive at Ridgeplain even after a month of traveling."

Ming Xiaolong glanced sideways at Lu Yin. "There are certain things that can't be rushed. The Autumnspring Slip might already be watching us, given that we’re heading to Ridgeplain right now."

Lu Yin calmly replied, "No one's watching us, aside from A'zuo."

Ming Xiaolong was caught off guard. "A'zuo’s watching us?"

Lu Yin did not answer.

Ming Xiaolong's expression grew complicated. While Wan Lou’s behavior infuriated her, she had grown up in the Everchange Valley. The reason why she had been able to become Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciple and one of the Seven Fairies was because Wan Lou had given her a karmic bud. Such kindness could never be repaid.

"Your Everchange Valley is really completely useless," Lu Yin suddenly said, "Despite having such an ancient heritage, you're completely suppressed by the Autumnspring Slip."

Ming Xiaolong instantly flared up. "You're the useless one! If we had a Heaven and Earth Phenomena realm expert, my Everchange Valley would never be in this situation!"

Lu Yin shook his head. "I’ve researched your history. Reaching the Heaven and Earth Phenomena realm doesn't enhance one’s combat strength at all. Even if you did have such an expert, they’d at best be a peak Dukkhan, which is still beneath the level of the Lesser Sancti. At best, that would make you equal to the Autumnspring Slip."

"Nonsense! Have you ever seen a Heaven and Earth Phenomena expert in action?"

"Isn’t Xing Fan one?"

Ming Xiaolong wanted to retort, but she could not. Instead, she fell silent.

Lu Yin frowned. This meant that his suspicions were correct; Xing Fan really was a Heaven and Earth Phenomena expert. The Everchange Valley was clearly aware of that. Judging by Ming Xiaolong’s reaction, Lu Yin was almost completely certain that Xing Fan was deliberately preventing any other Heaven and Earth Phenomena experts from appearing in the Everchange Valley.

He shook his head. "How pathetic."

Ming Xiaolong clenched her fists, but she said nothing.

Shui Su glanced from Lu Yin to Ming Xiaolong before whispering, "The Everchange Valley really is incredibly powerful and widely respected. That’s a fact."

Lu Yin did not react, but Ming Xiaolong’s expression softened slightly.

No matter how Ming Xiaolong tried to stall, the orchid leaf eventually reached Ridgeplain.

As Lu Yin looked up ahead at the bamboo slip floating high in the sky, his expression grew serious. "Is that the Autumnspring Slip?"

"That's right," Ming Xiaolong replied. "The Autumnspring Slip is both the name of their sect and their mirebound artifact. The Sixth Night Pillar was the one that obtained that mirebound artifact, but the founding ancestor of the Autumnspring Slip stole it and used it to found a sect. That’s what created the undying enmity between the Sixth Night Pillar and the Autumnspring Slip.

"Given any chance, the Sixth Night Pillar would erase the Autumnspring Slip and reclaim the mirebound artifact. Unfortunately, they can’t."

While the Night Pillars wielded immense power during times of war and attracted countless powerful cultivators, only a few people lingered there in times of peace. Those who did remain at the Night Pillars were fiercely loyal, and they treated the Night Pillars as a cause or belief. For example, the Azuresword Sovereign was loyal to the Fifth Night Pillar. He would never join any other faction in the megaverse. While he had once studied swordsmanship at the Seventh Night Pillar, his loyalty solely lay with the Fifth Night Pillar.

Naturally, there were also a few who lingered simply because they were waiting for the next war and hoped to compete for the position of Odyssey Commander.

While serving as an Odyssey Commander was not strictly necessary, it did greatly help one who wished to become a Lesser Sancte, as both Si Jiushi and Lu Sizhan had mentioned to Lu Yin.

During peacetime, it was nearly impossible for the Sixth Night Pillar to destroy the Autumnspring Slip. Even if the Night Pillar attempted to do so, they lacked the necessary strength due to how many years their forces had waned for.

Lu Yin felt something unfathomable from the bamboo slip in the sky. Over the years, he had seen quite a number of mirebound artifacts. Still, the most exceptional ones remained Whitecloud City’s three divine artifacts. Those mirebound artifacts had enabled Whitecloud City to develop a unique cultivation system, which Master Qing Cao had described as a shortcut. There was also Yong Heng’s seal, which had managed to severely injure Lu Yin while he was Possessing someone with his die’s ability.

All mirebound artifacts possessed some sort of remarkable ability. The wooden wing had been destroyed by the High Seraph after he used it as a target for his Everlasting Will. Yue Ya’s belt could only restrain opponents who were not fighting back. While some mirebound artifacts might appear to be weak, their effectiveness depended entirely on who was using them. When used skillfully, even the weakest mirebound artifact could play a critical role in a battle.

No mirebound artifact was simple.

The fact that the Autumnspring Slip had been stolen by the founding ancestor of the Autumnspring Slip, despite the fact that doing so had made him a mortal enemy of the Sixth Night Pillar, indicated that this mirebound artifact had to be extraordinary.

Directly beneath the bamboo slip, the Worldscript was being held. Countless people continuously moved about. Despite the brief moment that had passed, over a hundred people had already overtaken the orchid leaf and entered Ridgeplain.
