Chapter 2071: Bai Sulan

Chapter 2071: Bai Sulan

As Yuan drew closer, he realized there were actually two figures—one a small, human-like silhouette and the other resembling a massive bull.

Once he was close enough to see clearly, Yuan spotted a little girl with short black-and-white hair wielding a metal rod, locked in a fierce battle with a red bull radiating the aura of a peak Immortal Ascension beast. Yet, on closer inspection, it was clear the girl was merely toying with the bull, despite her cultivation being only at the fifth level of Immortal Ascension.

Her metal rod was also cloaked in weapon aura, and each swing sent visible ripples coursing through the air.

The little girl, who had been gleefully toying with the bull, suddenly paused when she sensed Yuan’s presence. Then, as if she’d discovered a new plaything, she turned her attention back to the bull and ended the fight with a single, decisive strike to its head, killing it instantly.

“Are you lost, handsome brother?” The little girl faced Yuan and asked, her face wearing a playful smile.

“Something like that. I’m looking for the Heavenly White Tiger Clan. Do you know the way?” Yuan asked.

“Of course. That’s my home, after all,” nodded the little girl. “But what business do you have there? Ah! Are you looking for a mate? Unless you’re really strong, you won’t be able to attract my Senior Sisters even if you’re handsome.”

Yuan raised an eyebrow at her unusual words, but then he recalled the Heavenly White Tiger’s lustful nature.

“Actually, I have some business with Bai Ning. Do you know her?”

The little girl’s eyes widened at the unexpected name, and she repeated in a surprised voice, “You’re looking for Senior Sister Ning?”

He nodded.

The little girl shook her head and sighed, “Don’t even bother, handsome brother. Senior Sister Ning is way out of your league. And even if you’re the most talented individual in the Nine Heavens, she only has eyes for someone you can never replace.”

“Oh? And who might that be?” Yuan asked, deciding to play along since he found it amusing.

“That would be the Immortal Monarch, of course!” the little girl declared. “Everyone knows Senior Sister Ning is obsessed with him. Even though he’s long gone, she still only has him in her eyes.”

“And why is she so fascinated with the Immortal Monarch? It’s not like they’ve ever met,” Yuan asked.

The little girl shrugged, “How would I know? I am not her.”

She continued, “Anyway, if you’re looking for Senior Sister Ning, you’re only wasting your time.”

“In that case, is Bai Xutao home?” Yuan then asked.

The little girl looked at him with a horrified expression and slowly backed away. “Handsome brother… You actually swing that way?”

Yuan sighed, “I’m not here to mate. I just have some unfinished business with them.”

“Oh… why didn’t you say so then? Senior Brother Xutao is currently at home, but you probably won’t be able to see him.”

“Why not?”

“Because he’s been in closed cultivation for the last several years. Something happened when he went to the lower heavens, and he’s been training like crazy since then.”

“That sounds terrible. What did he experience?”

“No clue. He refuses to tell us, so it’s most likely something embarrassing. According to Senior Sister Ning, he would’ve died if she hadn’t shown up in time.”

“Poor guy. He must’ve had a hard time,” said Yuan.

“Well, he’s a known troublemaker, so don’t feel too sorry for him. He probably deserved whatever happened to him.”

Yuan smiled and said, “I’m Tian Yang. What should I call you?”

The little girl smiled back and introduced herself, “I’m Bai Sulan.”

“Then, can you bring me to the Heavenly White Tiger Clan? I’ll be in your debt.”

Though they knew the Heavenly White Tiger Clan was located in the Heavenly White Valley, they didn’t know the exact location, and Yuan didn’t want to waste time wandering around.

Bai Sulan didn’t immediately respond and pondered in silence.

“I don’t mind, but you’ll have to wait until I am finished with my trial,” she said. “I cannot return home until I am finished, after all.”

It was common practice for powerful families to send their inexperienced members out on trials to help them gain real-world experience, and Bai Sulan was currently in the middle of this trial.

“How long will that take? I’m short on time,” Yuan said.

“It won’t be too long. I am almost finished. I just need to slay one more magical beast to finish the trial,” she said.

“Alright, I’ll follow along. Let me speak with my companion real quick.”

“Okay.”

Yuan returned to Feng Yuxiang, who was waiting at a distance, and explained the situation to her.

“I guess a small detour is fine. It’ll be much easier for us to approach the Heavenly White Tiger Clan if we have one of them with us, too,” she said.

Yuan returned to Bai Sulan shortly later with Feng Yuxiang.

“Your companion… is a phoenix?” Bai Sulan’s eyes widened in surprise as she recognized Feng Yuxiang’s identity from her unique scent alone.

Though she tried to maintain a brave front, her body betrayed her true feelings, trembling slightly with fear.

“Why are you looking at me like I’m about to eat you?” Feng Yuxiang asked, raising an eyebrow.

“I-It’s just… this is my first time meeting a phoenix…” Bai Sulan replied timidly.

“Don’t worry, she won’t do anything to you.”

Bai Sulan nodded with stiff movements.

“So, where are we going to go for your trial?” Yuan then asked.

“The Phantasm Serpent’s Nest,” she answered.

“Ah, I almost forgot…”

Bai Sulan suddenly turned to the corpse of the bull she had defeated moments ago and casually tossed its head into her spatial ring.

“I need evidence, or it won’t count,” she subconsciously explained her actions to Yuan.

A few moments later, Bai Sulan transformed into a massive white tiger and said, “Try not to fall behind.”

Then, she shot forward, her speed so great that it left a trail of afterimages in her wake.
