Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5193: Reaping Scythe

Chapter 5193: Reaping Scythe

’This brat... he’s getting faster and faster...’

The Celestial Transcendent inwardly assessed.

Davis’s scythe darted in wherever a fist withdrew, wherever a palm opened or closed, carving thin lines across knuckles, wrists, the edge of a sleeve.

None of the wounds were deep as the flesh was simply too thick and dense because of the chaotic body, yet each one blackened, spread, and gnawed by ghostly yang death energy, but there was something more cruel, more vicious, as though the cuts themselves were becoming their own kind of Law, ravenous and persistent.

A strange clarity dawned on Davis’s mind amidst the chaotic clangs.

His body moved before his mind fully caught up.

The black-yellow scythe in his grasp blurred, appearing to be no longer a single curved blade swinging in an isolated arc but a storm of edges, each swing bleeding into the next without pause, causing the Celestial Transcendent’s momentum to shatter and go into a defensive scramble.

"Wha-"

The Celestial Transcendent also increased the speed of his punches, but he was simply unable to catch up. He spread his hands into a T-pose and exploded out with a chaotic shockwave, but the Divine Emperor of Death stuck over him like a ghost, the unending storm of blades even shredding the shockwave and piercing through his defenses.

*Clang~* *Clang~* *Clang~* The sound of metal clashing repeatedly echoed.

Swing after swing after swing, the black-yellow blade left thin lines across guarding forearms, grazed past a retreating jaw, tore the edge of a robe that shouldn’t have been able to be touched at all. Each nick bloomed instantly into that same devouring, self-propagating decay, and the cumulative weight of dozens of such wounds began to do what no single attack had managed.

It forced the Celestial Transcendent backward, his Chaotic Flux Steps stumbling for the first time in the entire fight as he was made, however briefly, to retreat rather than advance.

The abyssal cavity rang with the shriek of a scythe cutting through chaos-condensed air, over and over. It sounded as if there was no mercy since there was no gap within the rhythm of the blades striking the metal-like hands, leaving the Celestial Transcendent unable to catch his breath.

’This brat... he’s comprehending Level One Obscure Intent of Reaping Scythe Laws...!’

The Celestial Transcendent felt incensed. If it weren’t for this strange, chaotic spectral body, would Davis have been able to focus enough to comprehend this mad Law?

Not only was this Phyletic Law elusive and out of reach, but it also brought out the secrets of the Reincarnation Dimension, the more one went up in comprehending Obscure Intent with it.

Hence, it was practically impossible to learn it, as very few individuals of the human race have managed to comprehend it.

Due to this strange inclination of revealing the secrets of the Reincarnation Dimension, Level One Obscure Intent of Reaping Scythe Laws was already considered to be at the level of a Mid-Level Supreme Law.

The attacks he left on him contained the intent of being reaped. Hence, it was more difficult for him to regenerate until he could wait for a new cycle to get over.

The thousands of crescent blades landing on him from all sides repeatedly kept forcing him back.

His black-yellow hair flailed along with his spectral trajectory. The Hateless Ghost Emperor Steps revealed its true prowess within his footwork, leaving the Celestial Transcendent unable to get hold of him.

*Rip!~*

The Celestial Transcendent’s arm flew from the forearm.

*Rip!~*

Another vertical swing of the scythe directly reaped the chaos energy burst that sought to push Davis away.

With a twist of his palm, he diagonally slashed across the Celestial Transcendent’s neck, intending to lop his head off, when a piercing howl shot the scythe away.

*Bang!~*

An arrow struck the scythe and caused it to crack.

Davis directly abandoned the scythe and chased as he struck with his fist against the Celestial Transcendent’s half-lopped head, his gaze full of reaping intent, one that severed vitality, harvested energy, and collected vital essence.

"Stop!"

Venerable Knight Lussandra’s voice echoed from afar, but the next moment, a winged fairy struck him with her sword, parrying his barely manifested scythe as she took him away from the Celestial Transcendent.

The barely manifested scythe quickly shattered.

Davis deflected her sword and struck from an odd position with his hand, with his tip concentrated like a curved blade as he swung it in an arc, the reaping scythe intent swinging in a crescent arc across Venerable Knight Lussandra.

"You dare!?" The Celestial Transcendent’s furious voice echoed.

*Rip!~*

Venerable Knight Lussandra’s arm flew off while one of her verdant wings was cut as his arm cleanly sliced through her. She sank to the right as her expression flickered with pain, but she hurriedly summoned wind blades that extended into terrifying swords at the layer limit.

It quickly carved through Davis, but none of them managed to cleave him.

*Bang!~*

A terrifying punch, filled with chaos, landed on Davis, and he abruptly split into many specters, the resulting black-crimson lightning striking the Celestial Transcendent, barely slowing him down but still slowed his reaction speed.

Many of the specters pounced on Venerable Knight Lussandra, causing the Celestial Transcendent to forgo offense and try to save Venerable Knight Lussandra.

But at that same moment, he knew it was a mistake as something enlarged and engulfed him from behind.

"Death Domain."

Behind the Celestial Transcendent, Davis’s spectral body turned surreal as he unleashed another ability of the white stone replica, instantly engulfing them in a black-yellow space that started draining their vitality and severed their connection from other avatars.

When the Celestial Transcendent gained clarity within the darkness, he saw thousands of ghosts and corpses all surrounding him as though they were the cogs of a giant formation.

Their prowess was all at the near-layer limit as they were aided by the replica, and they worked together to drain him of his vital essence.

The Celestial Transcendent heaved a breath, forcefully keeping his vitality from leaving through a technique called the Chaos Body Veil, which reinforced and increased his body’s defense many times by compressing the density even more. His energy rapidly deleted but he couldn’t care since if his vitality was depleted, he might not be able to use his energy.

Then, with a flick of his sleeves, he boomed, "Heaven-Earth Domain Reversal!"

*Crack!~*

Instantly, countless cracks appeared across the black-yellow world, and the ghosts and corpses screamed. The death energy domain was abruptly severed by a shockwave of chaos energy, twisting the order of the world, turning death into life, deathly ghostly yang energy into an energy that was full of life, which acted against the undead and the domain.

However, the domain was released even before it could be completely cracked.

When he saw the scene outside, he saw Venerable Knight Lussandra gravely injured by Davis.

She floated in the air, clutching her stomach that had a huge line slashed across it, while her arm and two of her four verdant wings were cut off.

"As expected, the domain didn’t even last three seconds against you. Really, I’ve never experienced so many failures..."

Davis sighed but in his hand was a scythe and held between that black scythe’s curved blade that had a sickly yellow edge was Venerable Knight Lussandra’s neck, ready to be sliced off with a mere pull.

The Celestial Transcendent watched blood drip down her neck calmly.

"If you don’t want her head lopped off, why don’t you seal yourself in that Stormheart Incarnation Prism?" Davis’s voice echoed as his Chaos Grand Ghost Body also released, returning him to a beatable state in the eyes of the Celestial Transcendent.

However, Davis’s lips merely curled as though he was provoking him to take action.

Was Davis really out of energy, or was he acting?
