Chapter 5146: Consecutive Ascent
Venerable Knight Lussandra glared at City Lord Kain, who held two women on the balcony. One was mysterious, but the other was clearly Jillian Hayden.
She felt her heart and soul scream at her to rush above and kill him for once and for all.
But inevitably, she might be ruining Jillian Hayden’s life since she might be carrying his child. She wanted to ask the Saint if he had bestowed his blessing on them, but didn’t ask since it would expose her identity and then risk many things.
She took a deep breath and turned around to leave as she headed to the Second Bastion City to find out the source of the disturbance.
It was really rare for someone to ascend at this time since those who could had already made their moves two months ago on the advent of the Desolate Era.
She was sure the Supreme One who had left earlier to seek the ghost should also be going there.
Davis watched Venerable Knight Lussandra leave with a faint smile before turning to look back.
He saw Jillian Hayden’s back as she was seated on the chair before he turned to look at Evelynn.
"Uh, I only did that to infuriate Lussandra..."
"I know~"
Evelynn grabbed his hand as she got him off her and pushed him away, "Don’t touch me for too long in this state."
"Haha... I understand."
Davis laughed awkwardly.
He didn’t know why Evelynn was supportive of forming a relationship with Jillian Hayden when she had been eager to kill her just a day ago. Maintaining her status as the first wife, she did so in a way that didn’t make it embarrassing for her, telling him to go see Jillian Hayden indirectly.
He could only follow her back out of the balcony before heading towards Jillian Hayden.
He supposed he was wrong here for using her to infuriate Lussandra, but it came off as a habit, as he had already done it before. He did it without much thought the moment he sensed Venerable Knight Lussandra’s gaze on him.
And then, he didn’t think it would evoke so many emotions in Jillian Hayden.
"What’s wrong? Can’t focus after the tribulation?"
Appearing before her, he asked in an amused voice.
"..." Jillian Hayden had her elbows on the desk as she hid her face. Raising her head, she glared at him.
"Yes."
"Don’t worry about it."
He said, trying to calm her, but it seemed to evoke more rage in her.
Jillian Hayden turned to look at Evelynn before she glared at him, sending a soul transmission, "What were you thinking!? Could you be any more shameless to hold me while holding your wife like that?"
"..." Davis went speechless.
He had no counter to it other than asking why she grabbed him then, but he was here to help her focus and help her understand she didn’t need to think too much about it.
Jillian Hayden kept glaring at him, "Cut off the hex link with your first wife and then we can talk."
"You knew?" Davis blinked.
"I’m a poison apothecary who knows about numerous poison, curse, and hex beasts. Do you think I wouldn’t know the capability of a Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid and their obsessive and sadistic nature that even intrudes into their relationship in the form of hex link?"
"..."
Davis knew he had underestimated this woman.
Although Jillian Hayden said that, she had only belatedly realized after learning that Evelynn already seemed to know many things about her during their first meeting.
"You’re good." Davis nodded, "Now the hex link is blocked. Feel free to speak your mind and even curse me."
He lied through his teeth.
Evelynn was still watching.
Jillian Hayden took a deep breath. She didn’t speak instantly. She took some time to recollect herself, even turning to look back at Evelynn, who seemed to be taking a rest as she lay on the bed, but she knew that Evelynn could be listening with her soul sense.
She returned her gaze to Davis and sent a soul transmission again, "Fine. I realized I like you."
Her cheeks reddened ever so lightly.
Davis raised his brows at this response. It was obvious to him that she liked him even when she rejected him. It was just that he didn’t expect her to admit it since she was obviously looking for a partner who wasn’t tied down already.
"But it’s not that I want to love you. You’re already married to many women and wouldn’t have the time for number thirty, forty or whatever, and I can’t tolerate being even at the entrance of a cold palace. I’m just infatuated right now, so it’s better if you could stay away from me..."
"Also, you two can have the bed... I don’t want it anymore."
Jillian Hayden said, even emphasized the second matter as though it was an important thing before returning her gaze to the vials.
She somehow felt better as though she had laid down the burden in her heart, causing her to smile lightly before she said authoritatively.
"Go now. Don’t disturb me. I have to save your wife from a mental affliction and earn karmic sin first."
"..."
Davis looked at her with amusement, suddenly feeling strange.
He leaned on the desk slowly and moved towards her.
Jillian Hayden had just grabbed a vial to resume when her heart quivered as she sensed his breath on her ear.
"You know. I would’ve folded on the first day of seeing you half-naked if I weren’t wearing the garb of City Lord Kain. You’re too beautiful and sexy, Jillian. You would do well not to come anywhere near me after two days, lest I lose control of myself."
His husky voice brushed against her ear as her grip on the vial trembled.
For a few seconds, she forgot to breathe as her face rapidly turned red.
"You-"
By the time she reacted, he was already gone. She turned to look back and saw that he was beside Evelynn, taking those roach movement technique scroll for her to see as he explained that he got some new insights on how to use this technique without crawling.
She was about to stand up and go curse him, but her legs had gone limp from the strange thoughts he put on her.
On the bed, Davis and Evelynn finished discussing the insights on the roach movement technique before he took out the jade slips the Ghost Tear Hall’s Founder gave him.
His studies lasted till the morning.
He first started learning the Hateless Ghost Emperor Steps as they would be the most useful.
Secondly, he couldn’t stop himself from shooting a look occasionally at Jillian Hayden, who had gotten to work and seemed to be making quick progress as she used various types of poison medicines in her spatial ring to confirm the base properties.
On the other hand, he didn’t know if he was making sure she wasn’t contaminating Evelynn’s bloodsoul essence or simply wanted to look at her with adoration as she worked with rage, pride and jealousy in her heart.
Her wide range of emotions totally attracted him, but more than that, he felt attracted to her as a man, slowly but surely, especially after Evelynn indirectly said okay.
He turned to stare at his Evelynn.
Sensing Davis’s gaze, Evelynn smirked behind her serpent mask, "What?"
"You planted a seed in my head from the beginning, and consequently, I planted a seed in Jillian Hayden’s head last night. I mean, I’m starting to like Jillian, but is this distraction you’ve allowed me to have during this life-or-death mission really worth it?"
Evelynn lowered her mask and revealed her smirk, "I lost. Jillian is yours to have."
"...?"
"Ask Zenova if you want to know. I’m not telling."
"..."
Davis’s lips parted as his mouth went agape. He raised his hand and pointed at Evelynn, "Good, good, good. You two have become sworn sisters without telling me and played me, huh? What was this bet for?"
"..." Evelynn didn’t respond as she put the serpent mask back on.
It made Davis gobsmacked.
"Still, I can’t believe three World Hegemon Tribulations appeared today." Evelynn changed the topic, "This is big news. I’m afraid it might trace it back to us if the Supreme One or other Heaven’s Warriors get hold of Fatty and force a confession."
"..."
Davis blinked.
From midnight to the morning, there were two more World Hegemon Heavenly Tribulations, all from the same direction. If it were just one tribulation, it might not raise a storm, but three consecutively happening were big news that instantly made the Stone Titan Clan famous overnight. The news had even reached his avatar, who had gone out of the Twelve Bastion Cities to make some preparations.
He lowered his hand and sighed, "I trust Handsome Fatty would keep his mouth shut for the most part."
==========
"Hahaha, congratulations! The Stone Titan Race is making a thunderous comeback."
"Congratulations!"
"Congratulations! From now on, no one will dare to bully the Stone Titan royalty from the Giant Race. Three World Hegemons produced overnight. What a sight! What a sight it was to see those tribulations one after another and watch them ascend successfully!"
"Many thanks, many thanks!~"
The members of the Stone Titan Race all had their lips curled wide in delight and pride.
It was finally their time to shine.
Well into the afternoon, they received endless guests pouring in with gifts in their hands.
But unbeknownst to them, the Deputy Patriarch of the Stone Titan Race stood respectfully in front of a person, willing to serve tea at the slightest notice.
But right now, he looked stunned.
The black-robed person seated in front of him kept the teacup down and said with a light smile, "Don’t be nervous. I’m not saying you colluded. I’m saying it could help us track him down and you’ll earn enough merit to produce more World Hegemons should we succeed."
"How is your eminence so sure that the Heaven-Burying Mountain Scripture was obtained from the Divine Emperor of Death?"
"Because we know the Divine Emperor of Death bought this manual that was unearthed from the Elemental Dimension, since the seller themselves provided this information to us. We also know he bought many other manuals. Hence, there’s a high likelihood that this manual was obtained from the Divine Emperor of Death."
"Impossible!"
"Then where did this manual come from suddenly and allow your clan to have three World Hegemons at once?"
"..."
"..."
The handsome fatty who was standing in an inconspicuous corner behind a pillar, unlike the other members, looked as shocked as anyone else in the crowd.
His mind was filled with thunderous rumblings, and one scene popped up in his mind with unbelievable clarity.
At that time, he had just reprimanded Dragon for looting treasures that he hadn’t hunted.
[
"Do, do, do whatever you want. If the other side learns that you’ve committed theft against them and even helped me, then they won’t let you go, and you’ll be forced to join me forever, our fates intertwined."
Dragon’s lips parted as though he was hesitant before he gestured.
"My condolences."
]
The handsome fatty’s expression increasingly twitched.
When he came out of his reverie, he nearly jumped as his fat bounced.
’Heavenly fuck! Bro- Dragon! What the fuck!? Heavenly Dragon, my ass. You didn’t tell me you were the Divine Emperor of Death!’
He tried to hide his face as he nearly cried, barely controlling himself from pissing his pants as the Supreme One seemed to have visited, sitting right at the center of the hall.
