Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4703 A Sky Piercing Mountain

Chapter 4703  A Sky Piercing Mountain

A colossal form ascended beyond sight, piercing through clouds that wrapped around its middle like drifting veils. The peak was obscured by endless mist, as though the mountain itself sought to pierce the very heavens. A faint golden radiance flickered around the clouds, sometimes vanishing, sometimes reappearing, like the heartbeat of an existence.

The mountain was unlike any ordinary range. It possessed vast, coiling pathways that spiraled upward like the turns of a celestial serpent. Each level appeared like a world of its own, divided by natural barriers of stone, fog, and energy. The very air shimmered with profound vitality, as though heaven and earth had chosen this place to nurture their most sacred creations.

Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze arrived at the foot of this mountain and could see its majesty of this mountain.

With their eyes, they could see up to six coiling paths that led to the clouds from a distance.

On the first coiling path, forests of ancient trees rose higher than towers, their jade leaves glimmering with dew infused with life essence. Many spirits roamed beneath their shade, their cries echoing like the chanting of nature.

The second coiling path was a realm of waterfalls and crystalline lakes. Rivers of liquid light cascaded from unseen springs, threading through vast terraces of luminous stone. It was so clear that these waters appeared like they could purify both body and soul, washing away even the negative thoughts in one's life.

With their perception and the angle, they could only see two levels in their vision.

"Strange…" Davis reached out his hand, feeling the air, "The elemental heaven and earth energy is quite harmonious and smooth even though it's dense, as though there is a lack of berserk disturbance for a long time…"

"Indeed." Fairy Thunderblaze narrowed her eyes as she looked up, her eyes squinting, "It's possible that this sky-piercing mountain is a safe haven for the spirits."

"Yes, there's a barrier which my soul sense can't penetrate."

Davis kept surveying more, trying to see through this mountain. When he gave the command for the Eternal Eclipse Bird to enter, it evidently sensed danger, which was reflected in his mind. Next, he sent his soul sense further, and it was blocked by a thin layer of an invincible dense barrier.

It was really strange since Davis hadn't encountered anything like this. He felt Fairy Thunderblaze was good for her to have guessed it earlier.

When he looked up again, he noticed that he couldn't find any Calamities. That's why Fairy Thunderblaze could tell that it might be a safe haven for spirits.

"I see someone…" Fairy Thunderblaze said, "A human…"

"Where?"

"There."

Following the direction where Fairy Thunderblaze pointed, Davis saw someone high in the second level display two middle fingers to them. They couldn't see who it was, other than the features of a human with red hair and battle armor.

He then turned around and left as though provoking them was merely a hobby.

"Of course, there's no way these arrogant supreme geniuses would just limit themselves to the High-Level Shard Regions. They're here too…" Davis scoffed.

He had the urge to return to the gesture, but the other party had already left.

Fairy Thunderblaze contemplated before moving her lips, "There should be more than one since that person turned in a hurry as though being called by someone. They're probably from the Greater Realm or originally lived here, descendants of the ancients who got trapped long back."

"Hmm… that's possible… but I don't think spirits would be kind enough to leave humans alive here. If there aren't humans sprawling around in the Shard Continent like bugs, nearly present everywhere, then it's pretty much confirmed that even if they survived until this day, they would be on the brink of extinction here."

Fairy Thunderblaze nodded to Davis's explanation.

The six levels they see here appeared to belong to various spirits. Moreover, the mountain pierces through the clouds to ascend higher. It was unknown what kind of spirits were living above. There could even be Celestial Spirit Tribes!

Once Davis thought of this, he shot a glance at Rioxys Plume.

There was a minute chance that her mother's tribe could be above this mountain.

"Rioxys, do you feel anything?"

Rioxys Plume was also looking up with interest etched on her face. She turned to look at Davis slowly and nodded.

"I think… my mother's tribe is above."

Davis raised his brows, "Do you feel your spirit resonate?"

"I don't know." Rioxys Plume's expression turned difficult, "It's more like an instinct of longing… it could be a darkness attribute resource too waiting above the clouds…"

Davis could only blink. He waited for her to offer more words, but she didn't. She seemed to be reminiscing about something.

"Should we enter this mountain? Since that human could enter, we should also be able to enter." Fairy Thunderblaze suggested.

Davis thought for a moment before shaking his head, "I'd bring my beauties here if I want to head above the clouds for real. Of course, scouting should be done since this barrier seems suspicious. Such places might have a Peak Exalt Spirit. But first, I want to clear the debt with you. Afterwards, I'll have enough time to explore with my wives."

"…" Fairy Thunderblaze stared at him before she removed her gaze.

"Are you sure you really want to head to the area on the map? I don't even know what awaits us there. It's on the other side of this mountain, so it could be really dangerous. We might not even see what hits us. Of course, you won't die, but I will."

Davis shrugged, "It's your decision. Either we will go there, or you take two High-Level Primarch Grade resources from my collection, and that will clear the big favor I owe you. As for the huge favor, I think you won't use it this time."

"That's obvious." Fairy Thunderblaze's lips curled, "I regret using the big favor earlier. If I had waited until I saw you obtain Rioxys Plume, then I would've been able to obtain much more. Unfortunately, thinking this realm might close and your family has already reached its limit here, I made the mistake of demanding only thirty Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources in return."

"Haha. You think I'll just let you drain my finances like that? If you go too far, I won't hesitate to retaliate or harass you."

"Harass?" Fairy Thunderblaze sounded amused, "Harass me? Are you even capable?"

"…?" Davis blinked before he understood, "It's not that kind of harass. I have plenty of ways to torture you."

"Ahahaha~"

Fairy Thunderblaze placed a hand over her mouth and laughed out loud, her tone melodious and seductive.

"…" It made Davis wonder what was up with this woman.

Did she want to be tortured by him?

"Forgive me." Fairy Thunderblaze controlled her laughter and took a deep breath, "I lost control over the fact that torture, harass, and rape are all the same thing to men when they inflict it on women. All of it strips me of my dignity and will be met with the full force of my retaliation. However, you are quite different indeed…"

She looked at him with a vague smile behind her veil, "Indeed, if you want to 'torture' me, I suppose I would be helpless to retaliate…"

"…"

Davis's heart shook when she heard her insinuation as she pronounced 'torture' in a rather sexy tone. Only then did Davis get uncomfortable, knowing this woman knew he wouldn't do such a thing and was provoking him to anger him.

He sighed, "Are you really intent on angering me while using my help?"

Fairy Thunderblaze shook her head, "When I asked if you were capable, I meant if you would be able to go against your wives' ideal version of you to 'harass' me. After all, you always hold yourself back because of them, don't you? I feel that it's lamentable to be like that for someone of your stature. It makes me angry..."
