Chapter 1217: Mystic Tools, The Mysterious Eighth Kingdom of the Mortal Realm
"Of course, we will cover the cost of materials and handle the manpower for the Seven Stars Formation, along with everything else." Cryosa said as she glanced over at Oaklein with a meaningful gaze.
Oaklein gave a small nod and followed up, "How about this—to make things easier on Apothecary Izroth, Apothecary Cryosa and I will work together to deliver on what we’ve promised. All we ask for is four- no, three liters of hydra’s blood. One for myself, one for Apothecary Cryosa and one for the Apothecary Guild."
Izroth took a moment to ponder as he continued to go through the books on the bookshelves.
’The Seven Stars Formation is an expert-rank grand magic formation. Under normal circumstances, one has to be at least a grade seven Formation Master to set it up. I don’t know its exact effects, but it’s something greatly sought after by many Apothecaries. The Mind Suturing Pill is also interesting. It’s of no use to me right now, but once I become a grade seven Apothecary, it will help save a lot of time and ease my way into advancing to a grade eight Apothecary. As for the other things they offered—it’s not bad. They’ve certainly shown their sincerity. It’s a good thing they’re not too greedy. Well, I suppose in the eyes of true Apothecaries who enjoy their craft, it’s a small price to pay.’
If there was a monetary value placed on it, the amount of Blood of the Immortal Hydra they were asking for could easily sell for 100,000 gold coins or roughly 15,000,000 RMB. However, its true value was much higher than that due to the fact, to Izroth’s knowledge, there was nowhere to get it in the Mortal Realm.
That being said, what Oaklein and Cryosa were offering easily surpassed the value of 100,000 gold coins. The Mind Suturing Pills alone could probably sell for around 40,000 to 60,000 gold coins each depending on the pill core rank. Though Mind Suturing Pills were not something that could necessarily be bought even if one had the money for it.
Setting up the Seven Stars Formation was also not cheap and the amount of manpower it required was the most daunting part.
It was a rather special magic formation that needed seven grade seven or higher Formation Masters working together to set up and take care of its initial activation. The problem was that Formation Masters were not nearly as common as Apothecaries. This was even more so when it came to the higher grades.
Even if Izroth had the funds to do it himself, he would have to go through the Formation Master Guild if he wanted to hire the appropriate number of Formation Masters. But, not only would it be costly hiring seven grade seven or higher Formation Masters, the time he would have to wait until their schedules aligned was unknown.
However, if the request was coming directly from the Elders of the Apothecary Guild like Oaklein and Cryosa, such a problem could be solved immediately.
’In the end, one’s status and influence makes things much more convenient. If I want to be able to move and act freely, I have to raise the reputation of the Mystical Realm Palace and the General Support Unit. That way, I won’t just have a foot in the door—I will be able to walk into the house of places like the Herbalist Guild and Formation Master Guild and be treated no less than the Heads of the profession guilds.’
"I will accept your offer. However, the hydra’s blood requires a special container. Without one, what happened during the promotion test will occur. I won’t be the one responsible for the consequences." Izroth stated clearly.
Oaklein and Cryosa’s expressions immediately changed from anxious to one full of delight.
"Of course, of course! Hahaha, how could we be so shameless as to blame Apothecary Izroth for whatever happens? Though a special container is of no concern. The Apothecary Guild handles pretty tough ingredients on a daily basis. Rest assured, we have a way of containing and storing it properly." Oaklein explained.
"Since we have come to an agreement, I will not waste any time. As long as Apothecary Izroth gives the word, I will immediately deploy a team to the Mystical Realm Palace to begin working on what was agreed upon." Cryosa said.
Izroth nodded and replied, "You can send them without delay. I will inform the staff of the Mystical Realm Palace of their arrival ahead of time."
...
After a few minutes of going over some details, a guest arrived at Malric’s private room. It was a young man in his mid to late twenties with thick glasses and short black hair. He wore the clothes of the Apothecary Guild and had a grade six Apothecary badge displayed on his shoulder.
Oaklein introduced the man as Grazeio—one of his direct disciples.
"Master Oaklein, I have brought the container you’ve requested." Grazeio said as he gently wiped a few beads of sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.
He seemed to be a little out of breath. One could tell that he must have rushed to handle the tasks Oaklein entrusted to him.
Grazeio placed the handkerchief away. The following moment, he lightly clapped his hands together as a brown box with golden inscriptions roughly half the size of a shoebox appeared in his hands.
"You’ve done well." Oaklein said as he grabbed the box and opened it.
Within the box, sat atop the soft red plush interior, were four items. One was a smaller plain black box that could easily fit into the palm of one’s hand. As for the other three items, they were all the same identical bronze spheres with strange symbols on the surface.
Oaklein took the black box and handed over to Izroth.
"That box contains three Mind Suturing Pills. Taking more than one will not do you any good; however, there are those who work for years under grade eight Apothecaries in hopes of receiving a single Mind Suturing Pill. It is important to know that it is not something that can be obtained with money alone. The other two Mind Suturing Pills can be of great help to Apothecary Izroth—if used correctly." Oaklein said in a meaningful tone.
"I see. I will take Apothecary Oaklein’s words to heart." Izroth responded as he accepted the box of Mind Suturing Pills and set it into his inventory.
Even without him going into too much detail, Izroth instantly understood Oaklein’s thought progress. In simple terms, as long as he had the Mind Suturing Pills, it would be easy to recruit at least two grade seven Apothecaries to work for him for a few years!
Oaklein then removed one of the bronze spheres from the box and injected his mana into it. As he did so, the symbols on the sphere emitted a soft white light before an opening appeared on the top of the sphere.
"This is a special storage device mainly used by the Herbalist Guild known as the Sphere of Avarice. It should be capable of housing a potent substance like the hydra’s blood." Oaklein explained.
’Oh? It uses mana, but it’s not a magic item. It’s also not a relic. Then, could this be...’
"A mystic tool?" Izroth commented.
Oaklein’s brows rose in amazement as he said, "So you know. Now, that’s surprising. Indeed, the Sphere of Avarice is a mystic tool. Since mystic tools are still a fairly new concept, I simply referred to it as a storage device for sake of convenience, but—I never expected that Apothecary Izroth would be so knowledgeable."
’Mystic tools are an ingenious fusion of modern technology and magic. While they’re not nearly as powerful as magic items, mystic tools are mainly made with a focus of daily use in mind. They do require a bit of mana to use; however, it’s a small price to pay since they can be mass-produced.’
"I was fortunate enough to come across a brief mention of mystic tools in book that looked to be newly written in the Amaharpe Palace Library. It’s my first time seeing a mystic tool in person." Izroth stated in a carefree manner.
’It resembles a magic item on the outside, but after observing it with my Energy Vision Sense, there aren’t that many similarities between the two. The identity of the person who created the mystic tools is still a mystery, but given the handiwork, it’s believed to have been created by the Ataragonians—that reclusive race of craftsmen.’
Most players were not even aware of the existence of the Ataragonians. It was to the point that most people considered them to be an old legend or having been wiped out by some unknown event. However, that was not surprising since the members of that race seldom left the place where all Ataragonians resided.
The mysterious eighth kingdom of the Mortal Realm—Avagorus. It was a place hidden so well that even those at the peak of the legendary realm had no idea where to even begin searching for it. Furthermore, it was said to be under the protection of the true dragons due to a long standing pact made by the Celestial True Dragon and the progenitor of the Ataragonians.
