Chapter 216: But I Miss You
The moment Mu Siyin laid her eyes on the delicately carved statue of Avalokitesvara[1], she felt her head spin.
However, that only happened for a second before she regained her balance in a while.
Uncle Zhong noticed how shocked Mu Siyin was and lifted his chin gleefully. “Little Siyin, did my treasure scare you? I tell you, this jade is my family’s heirloom. It’s very precious.”
Mu Siyin set her eyes on the bright-colored statue. After letting out a sigh, she proceeded to praise it. “It really is a good treasure. Even the carving looks so flawless…”
Mu Siyin was a jewelry designer herself and knew one thing or two about these spiritual accessories. They were normally consecrated and could not be touched by anyone other than the owner. As Mu Siyin fixed her eyes on the jade, she asked, “Do you know the price of this jade, Uncle Zhong?”
Upon hearing this, Uncle Zhong quickly stuffed the jade back into his clothes and snorted faintly. “This is my family heirloom. Why would I tell you its price? I won’t. I won’t.”
Uncle Zhong was obviously scared that someone would steal his treasure, and this sight made Mu Siyin burst into laughter. “Don’t worry. I’m just asking. I’m not planning to steal your treasure away from you.”
“Hmph. I won’t give it to you even if you want to steal it from me.”
Mu Siyin did not know whether she should laugh or cry. Being with Uncle Zhong, this child in an adult’s body gave her no chance to be unhappy.
“Little Siyin, we already came to an agreement, okay? Since you and Little Beibei saw my treasure, you need to hurry back tomorrow to show me the treasure Little Beibei gave you!”
“Sure, sure, sure. I will!”
Speaking of jades, Mu Siyin had one too. It was left behind by her mother and was very precious. She treasured it so much that she had locked it up safely in her bookcase. Mu Siyin planned to head back to the Mu family to retrieve it tomorrow, or Uncle Zhong would never let her off the hook.
It was already close to 8:00 p.m., but Shi Beiyu had yet to return.
Mu Siyin was getting a little anxious, so she sent Shi Beiyu a text. [When are you coming home?]
Two minutes had passed since she texted him. Suddenly, a crisp yet magnetic voice came from the door, teasing her, “Miss me?”
Mu Siyin froze immediately.
Blushing, she lifted her gaze only to see an aristocratic-looking Shi Beiyu walking from the darkness in his suit and leather shoes. He looked perfect, just like a God.
She had not seen him for an entire day, so she really did miss him, especially since she had nothing to do.
With a smile, Mu Siyin stood up from the sofa. As she walked closer towards Shi Beiyu, she lifted her brows slightly and said, “Don’t be so full of yourself. I just don’t want to starve while waiting for you. I’d have dinner without you if you came home any later.”
The smile on Shi Beiyu’s face deepened as he strode forward to pull her into a tight embrace. “Really?”
“Yeah.”
“But I miss you.”
Mu Siyin’s heart skipped a beat the moment she heard his soft, deep voice.
She suddenly became shy and coughed softly in return. After that, she pushed him away and said, “Let me go. They’re all looking at us.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Beiyu whispered, “It’s none of their business who I hug. They can watch whatever they want.”
Mu Siyin was completely speechless. He was obviously trying to show off their relationship!
“Okay, okay. I’m hungry now. Let’s go eat.”
Only then did Shi Beiyu let her go. He lifted his finger to brush it against her nose. “You little foodie.”
As the couple sat in front of the dining table, Shi Beiyu asked, “Did you rest well today?”
Mu Siyin was about to pick up her cutleries when she paused. Then, she blinked and smiled. “Yep! Do I still look sick to you?”
Shi Beiyu looked at her carefully before smiling and nodding his head. “You look rather good.”
Mu Siyin let out a guilty smile as she instinctively took up her chopsticks and offered to fill Shi Beiyu’s plate. “Come. You should eat more.”
