Chapter 31 – Cleaning Up the Rumours (谣言澄清)
Even though they wouldn’t be in too much legal trouble, they would definitely still have to provide monetary compensation.
Jing Yunzhao’s words were full of certainty, causing Lu Jia’s heart to quiver.
The police had already announced the truth? What truth… She was a bit confused. Didn’t everyone say that Jing Yunzhao was messing around with hooligans? Or was it… not true?
Teacher Jin sighed, “I’ve already discussed this with the higher-ups. The school’s ability to spread rumours sure is fast. So when it’s time for the morning assembly later, we’ll broadcast it to clear your reputation…”
If a student were to be ruined by rumours like these, they would surely hate the school forever.
“Lu Jia, tell your parents to come by later!” The teacher of Class 2’s heart felt aggrieved and continued, “You did suffer mistreatment, but it was within reason. When did Jing Yunzhao ever mess with you? You didn’t even know the truth, and yet, you still spoke so mindlessly. Don’t you know what negative effects your actions could’ve brought…”
The security guard brought out the footage as the teacher spoke. After looking at the footage, the audience had even fewer things to say.
Even though there was no sound recorded, all they had to do was ask one of the surrounding students, and they would know what had transpired.
Jing Yunzhao’s strikes may be a bit too harsh, but the one who attacked first was indeed Lu Jia. If Jing Yunzhao hadn’t dodged in time, the injuries on her face wouldn’t be light either.
“Teacher…” Lu Jia opened her mouth, planning on resisting.
“Enough. Your parents must come. Go to the infirmary first, a girl shouldn’t be behaving this way!” The teacher of Class 2 said angrily. She was upset and uncomfortable.
A student from her class went and provoked someone but instead was the one who suffered. How useless!
Jing Yunzhao wetted her lips, not saying any more. Since she had already reported everything, she told Teacher Jin goodbye and left.
Su Chu was standing by the door with her eyes wide open. When she saw Jing Yunzhao coming out, her eyes shined.
“Biao-jie, you’re really amazing! You hit Lu Jia to the point where there was no room for her to retaliate. If that was all, then that’d be fine, but she even has to call her parents! Haha, so satisfying!” Su Chu was shaking in laughter.
Jing Yunzhao glanced hopelessly at her and said, “I was also lucky. If there wasn’t a surveillance camera, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”
She wasn’t stupid. If she didn’t have any evidence, she would’ve been the one who suffered. No one would have believed her no matter what she said.
Su Chu stuck out her tongue and latched onto Jing Yunzhao.
The students passing by were all shocked.
They don’t know if there was something wrong with the school’s Feng Shui recently. The lone wolf Jing Yunzhao who didn’t even like to talk, not only beat someone to a pulp but even made a friend? And that friend was the representative of all the school belle’s!
(T/N: Feng shui (风水) literally translates to “wind-water” and is closely related to Taoism. Google: “a system of laws considered to govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy (qi)…”)
Yizhong was immense, thus it had probably gathered most of the attractive and talented people in the whole county.
A group of bored students had created two rankings unrelated to grades: One for the school’s princes and another for the school belles.
In that ranking, Su Chu held the image of a cute little sister and took third place. Her appearance captured the attention and adoration of the seniors the most.
Su Chu was known for her good relationships with people, but she was also known for being picky with people. She disliked interacting with fakers the most. Thus, seeing her walk with Jing Yunzhao today, it was only natural for others to find it strange.
Could it be that Jing Yunzhao was really not as horrible as the rumours said?
The people surrounding Jing Yunzhao all carried a strange atmosphere, their gazes all extremely confused.
However, these looks were kinder than before, so Jing Yunzhao was satisfied.
After a while, rows of students headed towards the assembly hall.
“Lately, bad rumours have been circulating within the school, causing a negative influence…” The director’s strict and serious voice started, ringing out through the loudspeakers.
