Chapter 27 – Unscrupulous (狼心狗肺)
Su Chu was wearing a pink coat, matched with a pair of delicately made leather boots. On the other hand, Jing Yunzhao had on a normal sports jacket. Comparing the two, Jing Yunzhao’s clothes were cheaper.
“Biao-jie, that colour doesn’t suit you. Your skin is fair, so I think you’ll definitely look good in either red or white!” Su Chu unreservedly complimented.
Su Chu has a delicate appearance; The image of the cute little sister next door. Jing Yunzhao could also imagine how popular Su Chu was at school.
On Su Chu’s end, she was completely mesmerized by Jing Yunzhao.
Su Chu had seen her many times before, such as during the school ceremonies where Jing Yunzhao was always the student representative. She always spoke meekly, yet no matter what the students below said about her, she never reacted.
Jing Yunzhao was actually very beautiful, but in the past, she never appeared to have much of an attitude, always giving a gloomy impression. But now, it felt like she was a completely different person. Even though she was just casually wearing a sports jacket, she looks classy.
“You’re not going to eat breakfast?” Jing Yunzhao had no opinions on her own clothes and just changed the subject.
“There’s only instant noodles… Biao-ge left early today, otherwise, I would still have had some porridge to drink…” Su Chu said with a bitter expression.
Jing Yunzhao’s mouth twitched and sighed.
It was still early. Jing Yunzhao told Su Chu to wait and began to prepare porridge for the both of them.
Su Chu had a child-like personality. When she saw Jing Yunzhao making breakfast with such smooth techniques, she perked up and commented, “Biao-jie, did you use to cook every day at home? Your porridge looks a lot better than Biao-ge’s!”
Her Biao-ge, Gan Jinchen’s, meals were only a bit better than her own, unlike the one Jing Yunzhao was making. It smelled so delicious!
“When you want to have some in the future, I’ll make it for you,” Jing Yunzhao replied with a smile.
Unless it was necessary, Jing Yunzhao usually rarely spoke, but she improved after she was reborn.
For the whole morning, Su Chu was the only one who kept talking nonstop. In the beginning, Jing Yunzhao had the patience to respond with a few sentences, but then she realized that Su Chu tends to go off topic. Their conversation tended to never stay on the same page. After a while, she just ended up taking the role of the silent listener, only responding with a nod sometimes.
After breakfast was over, they left for school.
The sunlight outside was bright and comforting, as if to congratulate her on her new life.
“Look, it’s Jing Yunzhao…” Someone said in a low voice as soon as they stepped onto the campus.
“Yesterday, after Qiao Hongye came back to the classroom, she started crying. Only after asking her about it for a long time did she finally tell me. It turns out that Jing Yunzhao isn’t her mom’s biological daughter. She was merely a child picked up by the Qiaos. Qiao Hongye’s dad even came and create a huge fuss yesterday. They even went to the police station. In the end, Jing Yunzhao insisted on moving out, meaning she’s cut all ties with the Qiao family…” a girl whispered.
The volume of her voice was quite low, but the surrounding students were only a few steps away from her and could hear everything clearly.
Jing Yunzhao glanced at the girl. She had some impression of her.
Yizhong was the best school in the whole of Huaning county with the first year consisting of more than twenty classes. The girl was in Class 1, while Qiao Hongye was right next door in Class 2.
Their classes were next to each other, and plus, they were a ‘family’, so the two were often compared with one another. She remembered that in her past life, this girl named Lu Jia (吕佳) was the most talkative one, always hanging around Qiao Hongye. Lu Jia always acted as if Qiao Hongye was wronged severely and would try to to avenge her. This resulted in Lu Jia constantly trying to harm Jing Yunzhao.
The present Lu Jia was similar to the one in her past life. Even after seeing Jing Yunzhao, she was still very proud, and even raised her voice.
“Some people think that as long as they have good grades, they can do whatever they want. They even ended up leaving the house and becoming independent! Even if they weren’t her biological parents, but their grace was much greater than that of real parents! She said she didn’t want them, and she really thinks she doesn’t have to have them! I’ve never seen such an unscrupulous person!”
