Luo Tingxue.
She had long heard much about her before their first meeting.
Luo Tingxue was the most elite socialite of Beijing and the daughter of her second uncle. Not only was she beautiful and elegant, she was extremely talented. Although she was only 20 years old, she had already completed university education and was planning to take the exam for a graduate program.
In Capital University, she was the belle while Xi Mubai was the most handsome boy in school. The two of them were equally outstanding and were known as the two elites!
The Luo Family and Xi Family were two of the four greatest families, and hence were on rather good terms with each other.
Hence, Luo Zheng had no idea why Xi Mubai wanted to make use of her to ruin the Luo Family.
All of the guests of the birthday banquet were heiresses and heirs of wealthy families, most of whom were there for Luo Tingxue.
Luo Zheng was denied entry at the door because she did not have an invitation.
Fortunately, Luo Zheng managed to spot the butler of the Luo Family amongst the crowd and said, “Are you Butler Gao? I’m Luo Zheng. I heard that it’s Cousin’s birthday today so I’m here to take a look.”
Upon hearing her words, Butler Gao stared at Luo Zheng with widened eyes and asked in shock, “You’re Missy’s cousin?”
Luo Zheng was on extremely bad terms with the Luo Family and they almost cut off all contact… Of course, the Luo Family was certain that the greedy and vicious Mu Tianwei must have led Luo Zheng astray!
Luo Zheng was intending to take the chance to see the Luo Family again in a bid to ease the tension between them.
Most importantly, she wanted to visit Old Mr. Luo, for she felt rather guilty about how she treated him.
The Luo Family detested her because of Mu Tianwei but her uncles did not make things too hard for her on the account of her mother… Hence, Old Mr. Luo was the only one who truly doted on her.
“Cousin Missy, would you like to go inside to get some rest first? Sir and Old Master are attending to the guests now. You may see them after the banquet ends. Old Master will be thrilled to see you.”
Butler Gao could not understand Luo Zheng’s reason for visiting but he could not stop her from entering and thus had no chance but to say that.
“Alright, thank you Butler Gao.”
Luo Zheng nodded in gratitude and watched as Butler Gao arranged for the waiters to perform different tasks before bringing her to the guest room.
Just as Luo Zheng was about to go upstairs, she scanned her surroundings and listened to the music. It was rather boisterous and that was where the banquet was at.
“I heard that Miss Tingxue is holding a masquerade. Would you like to take part?”
The waiter decided to ask her that question after seeing that Luo Zheng seemed to be interested.
Luo Zheng hesitated for a moment before deciding to go inside. She waved and gestured for the waiter to go back to performing his duties before she entered.
There was a plethora of masks at the door that the guests could choose from. Luo Zheng picked out a fox’s mask and placed it on her face casually.
She then pushed the door to enter.
She was greeted with the sight of plenty of guests clad in gilded masks and chatting with each other.
There was a high staircase in front of her, on which there was a girl standing at the peak, clad in a light blue gown that accentuated her tall and slender body. She was facing everyone gracefully.
She was none other than Luo Tingxue.
Compared to Luo Zheng, she was undoubtedly a true blue princess who was born with a golden spoon in her mouth and was the apple of everyone’s eye. She was worlds apart from Luo Zheng.
In the past, Luo Zheng was indeed very envious of Luo Tingxue, even though she had long been rid of it ever since her rebirth.
Luo Tingxue’s masquerade was obviously different from traditional ones, for the rules catered to youths… Everyone had to put on masks and pick a partner to dance with.
They would be able to remove their masks at the end of the dance.
However, those who did not like their partners after seeing them remove their masks, would not be able to change their minds!
Luo Tingxue would be taking part in the masquerade as well.
Hence, most of the men were extremely excited and were all hoping to dance with her.
Unfortunately, Luo Tingxue remained still and seemed to be waiting for something.
Since she was not picking a dance partner, the rest had no choice but to wait and scrutinize each other for a suitable dance partner, for fear that they would end up alone.
Luo Zheng picked up a glass of red wine and swirled it in her hand, occasionally taking a sip out of it.
However, there would be some men coming forth to invite her to be their dance partner, every now and then.
Luo Zheng began to grow impatient after turning down several men, and decided to leave because she found it rather pointless.
At this moment, Luo Tingxue said, “Mr. Bo, the masquerade is going to begin. I’d like to invite you to be my dance partner for the first dance.”
