"How about this? Next time, I will bring you here to see these birds, okay?" Sheffield asked.
"Okay!" Gwyn agreed with a nod.
Evelyn straightened her wedding dress, wondering whether he was just saying it to make Gwyn feel better. If he was really planning to bring Gwyn here to see the flamingos, should she come along with them?
"Gwyn, can you see what it's eating?"
Sheffield asked, pointing his phone to a flamingo which had something on its beak. Gwyn thought for a moment and said, "Little shrimps..."
"Yes, very good! It's eating shrimps!" He chatted on for a while.
Evelyn smiled. It had only been two days since they had left on their trip. Sheffield had never stopped talking about Gwyn all the while. He missed the little girl much more than Evelyn did. Now that he could finally see her on video, they chatted for nearly an hour before he reluctantly ended the video call.
They spent two days shooting by Posey Lake. On the first day, Evelyn wore the green wedding dress, and Sheffield wore the white suit. On the second day, he picked a black suit while she chose to wear a white wedding dress.
On their third day, they took four magnificent off-road vehicles of different colors to the biggest desert in M Country.
Evelyn wore a flaming-red wedding dress with a cathedral train, with a red rose just above her ear. She looked lovely. To match her, Sheffield wore a wine-red suit.
He snuggled close to her, unwilling to leave her alone for even a second. Evelyn whispered in his ear, "Everyone is laughing at you. Don't cling on to me like this all the time."
"But I want to! Evelyn, you should wear more red. Actually, you should wear more red at home for me," he said, winking at her. She rarely wore any red clothes, and she looked so sexy in them.
He couldn't imagine how beautiful this woman would look on their wedding day.
Evelyn smoothed his hair with a light blush on her cheek. "You like it?" She would have never tried the red dress if not for Sheffield insisting that she should.
"Of course, I do!" he confirmed.
"You look flaming hot, honey."
"If you say so." She decided to get more red clothes after they got home.
She didn't have many in her wardrobe. The color reminded her of some unpleasant things from the past. But what was done couldn't be undone now. Maybe it was time for her to let go of the past and move on.
The sun was setting. The photographer arranged for them to sit on the roof of the black off-road car. They sat side by side. Evelyn's red veil, which was over ten meters long, danced in the desert wind. With the setting sun in the background, their photos turned out amazing.
Next, the camera crew brought a camel and asked Evelyn to climb on it so that they could take some solo photos of her.
But she was a little too nervous. Without a word, Sheffield climbed on top of the animal and reached out to her. "I'll come with you," he said reassuringly.
Evelyn put her hand in his. After she placed her foot on the tread, Sheffield pulled her into his arms.
The camel abruptly stood up, and Evelyn almost let out a scream. This was her first time riding a camel. Once, long back, she had come with Debbie to the desert, but she refused to ride a camel. In the end, she had to take the off-road vehicle to the destination.
The camel started walking slowly. It felt very different from riding an elephant. The elephant was steady, but the camel swayed too much. She rested herself in Sheffield's arms, as they swayed to the camel's pace.
She held his hand tight. Realizing that she was scared, he soothed her in a gentle voice, "Don't be afraid, Eve. We'll only be riding a short distance. You weren't so frightened while riding the elephant."
The elephant was much taller than this camel, and Evelyn had remained calm at that time.
She grabbed on to his hand that was firmly around her waist, and answered nervously, "The camel…is not...steady. Woah!" They went down a slope, and the camel's body suddenly tilted downwards. Evelyn screamed in a low voice.
"Hahaha." Sheffield laughed, amused by her reaction. He wrapped the woman up completely in his grip. "He walks around this desert countless times every day. He won't trip. Besides, even if he does, I will protect you. So, be brave!"
She had her back against his strong chest, and his comforting words gave her strength. Her breathing steadied and she calmed down.
The photographer followed the camel around for nearly a kilometer. He clicked so many pictures of them talking and laughing, catching their candid intimate moments. After a while, the staff helped them off the camel's back.
The crew had set up a makeshift changing room in the desert, and a lady clerk followed Evelyn inside to help her change into another wedding dress.
This one was a white off-shoulder. The makeup artist waited for her to come out. When Evelyn was ready, she sat down and the beautician took out a new lipstick shade.
As he passed by her, Sheffield pecked a kiss on the corner of her lips before going in to change his clothes.
The beautician giggled and looked at Evelyn with admiration. "Mr. Tang really loves you. He doesn't want to let you out of his arms at all."
Evelyn's heart fluttered, but she answered modestly, "I guess so."
But she knew in her heart that she was the love of his life.
On the fifth day of their trip, they arrived at D City. Sheffield reserved the same room in which Evelyn had stayed last time. She had mixed feelings as she entered the room after three years.
She had met Sheffield there, and had shared her body and soul with him in that room. And she had conceived their eldest child in that room, their baby whom they weren't lucky enough to meet.
The photo shoot was scheduled for the next morning, so they had the rest of the day to roam around.
After resting for two hours, Sheffield took Evelyn to the restaurant where they had had dinner the last time they were in the city.
He ordered the same dishes as before, one of which was the quick-sauted termite mushrooms. It was so spicy that it had almost made Evelyn cry last time. The dishes were soon served. Looking at the woman in front of him, Sheffield raised his eyebrows and asked, "Do you want to try the dish again?"
Evelyn scrunched her brows as she tried to remember what had happened the last time they were there. She smirked at the man. He had kissed her after pretending to help her! She put down the wet tissue in her hand and asked, "Are you hoping to sneak a kiss again?"
Sheffield grinned. "Guilty. But this time is different. You're going to be my wife. I have the right."
She glared at him. "You're annoying."
He put the bowl of soup in front of her and asked, "Are you saying you don't want me to kiss you?" He pretended to think about it and then shook his head. "No, that can't be. Every time I kiss you, you seem to enjoy it as much as I do..."
"Shut up!" How Evelyn wished she could strangle him. He always talked dirty without the slightest shame.
Wearing the same bright smile, Sheffield picked up the food for her. "Honey, you have been very busy with the photo shoot. Look at your face, it's so thin. Eat!"
