Chapter 2214: Chapter 2215: Hurricane
Arnott’s answer left Angel puzzled.
Earlier, that massive whirlwind made a point of mentioning Hurricane’s name before dissipating, suggesting that it was not a weakling; perhaps even quite renowned on Wind Island.
But Arnott’s answer indicated that it had never heard of Hurricane?
That’s very strange.
Even if Arnott is reclusive, having lived on Wind Island for so many years, it’s hard to believe it wouldn’t have heard of a strong figure on the island. Unless this Hurricane is not actually a strong figure? But that doesn’t align with the aspirations left behind by the whirlwind upon its demise.
Or perhaps this Hurricane is powerful, but like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, doesn’t like to flaunt, hiding its true strength? This could be plausible in the World of Wizards, but in a world dominated by elemental creatures, where the strength of elemental energy is quite obvious, hiding one’s strength is nearly impossible.
Are there any other possibilities beyond these two?
"I was thinking, could it be..." The speaker was Jack the bean vine, who stopped halfway and shook its head: "Probably not."
"What are your thoughts, feel free to share?" Angel looked at Jack the bean vine, thinking perhaps as fellow elemental creatures, its insights might be valuable?
Jack hesitated for a moment: "Since Arnott doesn’t recognize Hurricane, I was thinking, might Hurricane not be from the White Cloud Village?"
"Not from the White Cloud Village? Are you suggesting the whirlwind betrayed Wind Island, conspiring with outside forces?" Dangross questioned.
Jack shook his head: "Not just that, I was thinking, since that whirlwind and Hurricane are in cahoots, what if neither of them is from Wind Island."
Dangross was taken aback, understanding Jack’s implications. Wind-element creatures are not exclusive to White Cloud Village. Jack was suggesting that Hurricane and the whirlwind might both be wind-element creatures from afar. If so, many details would make sense.
However, Dangross was still uncertain: "If they truly are foreign wind-element creatures, why would they come to White Cloud Village and act so arrogantly?"
This was the part Jack couldn’t figure out, which is why it hesitated earlier.
Angel spoke up then: "Perhaps it has something to do with the current strange events in White Cloud Village?"
Angel also agreed with Jack’s view, because not only did Arnott not know Hurricane, but seemed unfamiliar with that whirlwind as well.
Moreover, previously White Cloud Village exhibited strange behaviors, summoning all wind-element creatures back without notifying their green fellow-guardians, and even rejecting the assistance proposal from Prosperous Glem.
At that time Angel suspected it might be internal conflict. Only in matters of internal strife would Gentle Wind Uranus be embarrassed to spread family feuds outside.
Even if the whirlwind and Hurricane were not born in White Cloud Village, since they are both wind-element creatures, it could still be considered a form of internal conflict to some extent.
So, based on this premise, it seems very likely they hail from other wind-element territories.
Angel shared his speculation.
Dangross: "Sir means, could White Cloud Village be at war with other wind-element territories? Hence the current situation?"
"It might not be a war, but rather an internal struggle?" Angel speculated.
Confusion flashed in Dangross’ eyes: "Is that really the case? I’ve attended classes by Teacher Magu, and it always emphasized that the domain of Fire and other fire-element territories are closely allied. Just like the Baya Desert and Wild Stone Wasteland, both earth-element creatures, they maintain a good relationship too."
"Having good relations is one thing, but occasional disputes are another." Angel sighed. If Dangross understood human history, it would see many allied nations profess love and unity, but secretly harbor competition. Even within the same camp, internal conflicts exist, let alone different camps, how can they forever remain united.
"Perhaps... you might be right." A soft, slightly tearful voice suddenly reached their ears.
Angel looked down to see it was Arnott speaking.
It tilted its head, looking toward the silver white flying fish still trapped in the illusionary realm, with a complex expression in its eyes.
"Is there something wrong with this flying fish?" Angel noticed Arnott staring at the silver white flying fish and asked.
Arnott nodded, then shook its head: "I don’t know if there’s anything wrong, but when I first saw it, I vaguely felt its wind differed from mine."
Initially, Arnott didn’t realize the problem until it sensed the Wind’s Force within that mighty whirlwind.
The wind from the whirlwind, and that from the flying fish, both gave it the same sense of anomaly, not like the wind from White Cloud Village.
Reflecting on Jack’s earlier speculation and Angel’s added insights, Arnott just realized, perhaps they are not winds from White Cloud Village?
"Is this flying fish also from another wind territory?" Dangross asked in surprise, "But if it’s truly an internal conflict, why would they bring an Elemental Sprite here? And casually place it in the White Cloud Sea?"
Arnott: "I’m only suspicious."
If what Arnott said is true, Angel doesn’t understand why they would bring an Elemental Sprite to White Cloud Village. However, he has a theory about why they left the silver white flying fish in White Cloud Sea—
Because it’s an Elemental Sprite.
Like how, even when a couple is estranged, their children might remain a mutual weak spot. The Elemental Sprite, sharing the same attribute, is precisely that common denominator.
Even if recognized by White Cloud Village’s wind-element creatures, they wouldn’t harm it. Just like how Gentle Wind Uranus summoned all wind-element creatures back but left the Elemental Sprite untouched, because it knows, even adversarial wind territories wouldn’t harm an Elemental Sprite, it’s a tacit understanding.
"For now, let’s not think too much about the origin of the silver white flying fish." Angel said, "Let’s proceed to Wind Island and see the current situation. As for these Elemental Sprites, I believe His Highness Gentle Wind will arrange for them when the time comes."
After saying this, Angel began to navigate the Gondola.
"Let’s continue forward."
The Gondola set off again. Besides Angel and Toby, the other elemental creatures looked at the looming nightfall and cloud with solemn expressions.
Is White Cloud Village truly fighting with other wind territories?
If indeed wind-element creatures from other domains have arrived, how many are there?
Has Hurricane already learned of the whirlwind’s demise, and might he be lying in wait ahead?
The thoughts of all the elemental creatures were complex, especially Arnott. It understood that as the Gondola pressed onward, the truth would inevitably be revealed. Regarding the impending truth, alongside anticipation, there was also fear and dread.
"If they really are wind-element creatures from another domain, where might they be from?" Dangross shattered the silence on the Gondola.
Arnott shook its head, as it rarely visited The Sage and knew little of external affairs.
However, Jack the bean vine, after some thought, replied: "As far as I know, there’s one, two, three, three..."
Dangros said grumpily, "Are you talking about four?"
Bean Vine Jack shook his head, "No, it’s three Wind Element Territories. Including Lanhai Forest, Storm Ridge, and Long Breather Wind Cave."
According to Bean Vine Jack, Lanhai Forest is the farthest from White Cloud Village, on the distant sea, and has no connection with White Cloud Village. If there were a conflict, there wouldn’t be a need to go so far, so the biggest possibilities are Storm Ridge and Long Breather Wind Cave.
About these two places, Jack knew very little, only knowing that information on Long Breather Wind Cave was extremely closed off, and that the Hurricane His Highness of Storm Ridge, though ascending the Monarch’s position only after the disaster, was extremely powerful.
Exactly where it might be from, Jack’s hard to determine as well.
...
As the Gondola moved forward, the surrounding wind became noisy again, this time carrying an unusual atmosphere.
They flew for another three minutes.
"I can already smell the scent of Wind Island." Arnott spoke, his gaze falling on the distant, deep black clouds: "Passing through there is Wind Island... However, I also feel that there is a lot of active Wind’s Force in those black clouds."
Arnott’s words made Dangros nervously swallow, even though it had no saliva.
As they got closer to the massive black cloud mass ahead, the unusual atmosphere grew heavier and heavier.
Even for the weakest sensing Dangros and Jack, they detected something amiss, not to mention Arnott, who had kept his eyes closed sensing the flowing wind.
The Blue Lantern Flower popped out at this moment, conveying warnings to Angel.
As this atmosphere reached its peak, Dangros stammered, "Why don’t we... reconsider our approach?"
"Have you caught Kelonkcro’s bug?" Angel joked lightly, then added, "No need to reconsider because..."
Angel looked at the layered black clouds in the distance, and slowly said, "They’re already here."
Dangros was stunned, immediately turning his palm towards the distant black clouds. Although they couldn’t yet see inside the black clouds, that eerie atmosphere was quickly turning into a sense of oppression.
Even though there were no outlines yet in the black clouds, the sense of oppression had already surpassed that of the previous massive whirlwind.
This pressure made the distant black clouds appear like a looming shadow over Dangros’s head, constantly pressing and squeezing its precarious spirit.
At this moment, Angel tapped his knuckles on the table, the clear sound dispersing the gloom in their hearts.
In a trembling voice, Dangros asked, "Is that Lord Hurricane in the black clouds?"
Angel shook his head, "I don’t know, maybe Hurricane is there. After all, there’s more than one coming."
More than one? Dangros’s eyes widened instantly.
"See for yourself if you like." Angel said: "They’ve already appeared."
Dangros hurriedly looked back into the distance, and indeed, within that black cloud, some vague outlines began to emerge.
However, unlike the previous encounter with the massive whirlwind, where it was just a mountain, the outlines in the black cloud were undulating and more like a mountain range.
Angel had also temporarily stopped the Gondola, yet the outlines within the black clouds did not diminish, instead becoming clearer, proving they were approaching.
Seconds later, one figure after another emerged from the black clouds.
Dangros finally saw the true form of the "mountain range" within the black clouds; at least dozens of Wind creatures, all in their mature phase, and at the forefront were four gigantic Wind creatures comparable to the massive whirlwind, with the largest being even larger.
Such a formidable force naturally exhibited an extraordinary sense of oppression. Even though Angel had shielded the gondola from the oppressive feeling, the looming force still exuded an undeniable fear.
Bean Vine Jack hung shivering on the door curtain, while Dangros’ lips quivered. It was clear how much they feared the horde before them.
"Arnott, quickly tell me, these are from Wind Island... they’re under the command of His Highness Gentle Wind?" Dangros nervously retreated a few steps towards the yellow sand cage.
Arnott hesitated for a few seconds and silently began to shed tears, "I haven’t seen them before, but their aura is just like a Silver White Flying Fish."
The same aura as the massive whirlwind, meaning the newcomers must be with the same group as the massive whirlwind.
Dangros stiffened, drew back a few steps, and collapsed on the table: "If I pretend to be a severed hand, I shouldn’t get noticed, right?"
Nobody answered Dangros because, at that moment, a whistling sound came from the opposite side.
"Eh, it seems they’re not Wind creatures? Only a few Elemental Sprites."
"Elemental Sprites don’t matter, but there’s actually a Fire Elemental Spirit... Eh, also a Wood Creature, could Gentle Wind Uranus have sought aid from the Green Wilderness? Did Lord Hurricane guess wrong?"
"It’s just a thin vine, a breath could blow it away, no need to bother."
"If they’re not Wind creatures from White Cloud Village, should we still act?"
"No, I see Fervat! Didn’t Lord Hurricane leave it outside? It’s been captured, damn it!"
"We must reclaim Fervat! Lord Hurricane, please give us orders!"
Initially, the voices carried by the wind were more of an inquiry, but once they discovered the so-called "Fervat," the wind’s sound became clamorous.
Angel speculated that the Fervat they mentioned should be the Silver White Flying Fish.
The distant clamorous sound abruptly halted, and the largest figure standing at the center of the formidable horde slowly spoke, "I saw from Aimer’s wind that it was killed by this group of people..."
As soon as the words were spoken, the voices in the wind became even more frenzied, with a hundred strong strands of hatred piercing Angel’s being.
Aimer’s self-destruction caused such a commotion that all the Wind creatures witnessed it, which is why they gathered here to see if Gentle Wind Uranus had any backup. But instead of backup, they encountered a Flying Boat!
"No matter who they are, killing Aimer, abducting Fervat... they must die!" With Hurricane’s command, came a surge of cheers in response.
All their malice and hatred, at that moment, erupted fully.
They inundated the skies and swept forward!
