Chapter 1231: Revenge

Chapter 1231: Revenge

The fat chicken circled the ice hall and discovered a teleportation array. Only then did he realize that Qin Sang had used this very array to teleport here before, find his home, and take the fragments of Infinite Blood Mulberry Wood.

However, the array showed no response. The one on the other side had already been destroyed.

Qin Sang buried Wu Shang’s body within the ice hall, erected a memorial stele, and sealed the place.

After leaving the ice hall, the fat chicken wanted to return to his former cave dwelling to take a look.

The Lightning-Devouring Falcon’s cave dwelling had actually been deep within the inner valley.

Endless Valley was layered with barriers, and its space was distorted. Qin Sang followed the fat chicken around for quite some time before finally reaching the familiar ice mountain and the boundless, cloud-like expanse of Malevolent Frost Wind.

After passing through the Malevolent Frost Wind, Qin Sang saw the entrance to the Lightning-Devouring Falcon’s cave dwelling. He sensed that it now had an occupant, and his expression shifted slightly as he glanced at the fat chicken. "Hmm?"

The fat chicken chuckled awkwardly. "Nothing escapes your eyes, Master. The cave dwelling my mother left behind was seized not long after her disappearance by a damned fox. I was still young back then. It chased me until I had nowhere to run, above or below. Luckily, my mother left me a few life-saving treasures, or I would’ve died long ago. After that, I wandered homeless, suffered endlessly, and nearly got captured by immortal cultivators who would have skinned me, torn me apart, and refined me into an astra. If I don’t avenge this, I can’t quell the hatred in my heart!"

As he recalled those miserable years, the fat chicken gritted his teeth.

Although the Lightning-Devouring Falcon demon king had gone missing, she had left behind an excellent cave dwelling and many treasures. The fat chicken should have been able to cultivate steadily to the Demonic Core Realm or beyond, then set out to find a way to save his mother.

Instead, the cave dwelling had been seized by an intruder. A proud descendant of a demon king had been reduced to a stray. He had barely escaped with his life, hiding and fleeing in misery.

"I won’t trouble you, Master. I’ll settle this grievance myself!" The fat chicken let out a sharp cry and dove downward like a bolt of lightning, shooting straight into the ice cavern. Immediately after, a piercing shriek rang out from within the cave dwelling.

Boom! The frigid wind inside the cavern scattered. Lightning and blue light burst outward in radiant streams.

The fat chicken shot back out of the cavern, closely followed by a streak of blue evasion light. It revealed a blue fox, about the size of a calf, its aura rivaling that of the fat chicken.

After all these years, the blue fox had occupied such an excellent cave dwelling and cultivated day and night, reaching the late stage of the Demonic Core Realm. Otherwise, the fat chicken would have come to take revenge long ago.

When enemies meet, their eyes burn with hatred. The two demonic beasts clashed in an instant.

Qin Sang glanced over. The blue fox was fierce and not weak, but it could not compare to the fat chicken, who had devoured the Azure Luan’s lightning and possessed the demon king’s treasure. The fat chicken’s victory was only a matter of time.

Losing interest, Qin Sang withdrew his gaze and flew beyond the layer of frost wind, observing the desolate and rarely visited land.

Outside the cave dwelling, the two beasts had already exchanged hundreds of blows in the blink of an eye. They fought from the ground to the sky, then back down again.

Roars shook the heavens. Glaciers cracked, and gales howled.

At last able to vent his fury, the fat chicken fought without holding back. His supernatural abilities erupted in full force. Azure lightning coiled around his body, shooting out in streaks, as if the Azure Luan had possessed him, radiating immense power.

The blue fox gradually began to falter. Its eyes darted about as it realized that the little demon it had once driven away had now surpassed it and returned for revenge.

Though it had never consumed Imperial Elixir, it had lived long enough to possess keen intelligence. Facing an opponent it could not defeat, the thought of escape arose in its mind.

Poof! The blue fox spat out a mass of cold qi, refined over years from devouring the essence of the Malevolent Frost Wind.

The fat chicken did not dare take it head-on and quickly dodged.

But just as the cold qi surged forward, it suddenly condensed into a sharp blade. Its speed surged, tearing through space in an instant and slashing toward the fat chicken’s chest, about to pierce straight through and kill him.

Yet the blue fox did not even look at the result. With a flick of its tail, it turned to flee.

"I’ve been waiting for that!" Instead of panicking, the fat chicken laughed. He opened his beak, and the treasure orb left behind by his mother floated out lightly.

The orb appeared fragile, but when the ice blade struck it, not only did it fail to damage the orb, it shattered into powder instantly.

The fat chicken burst into laughter, folded his wings, and lunged straight at the blue fox. Lightning flickered across his claws as he aimed to crush the fox’s skull.

The blue fox tried to dodge in haste, but the fat chicken unleashed move after move. Caught off guard, the fox’s protective aura was shattered by a bolt of lightning that struck its vital point, sending it crashing down from the clouds onto the ice, rolling into a heap.

Severely injured, the blue fox could no longer escape. Lying on its back, it begged for mercy as the fat chicken descended, letting out pitiful cries.

But recalling everything from the past, the fat chicken’s blood boiled. How could he spare his enemy? Without hesitation, he tore the blue fox open, his claws ripping and churning as he dug out its demonic core and swallowed it in one bite.

Having taken his revenge, the fat chicken cleaned up the cave dwelling, which the blue fox had left in complete disarray, then went to reunite with Qin Sang.

Qin Sang did not ask about the outcome. He placed the fat chicken into the Primordial Unity Ring and set off toward Blood Lake.

The depths of Endless Valley were as dangerous as Abyssal Ruin, making every step difficult.

But Qin Sang had already moved freely through Abyssal Ruin, so these obstacles posed no real challenge.

With plenty of time before the appointed moment, he took the opportunity to explore Endless Valley, collecting several spiritual herbs and fruits. Unfortunately, the sword spirit of the Killing Sword still showed no response.

Five days later, Qin Sang arrived at Blood Lake.

"Daoist Ming Yue, you have arrived."

There were over a dozen figures gathered at the edge of Blood Lake.

The one who greeted Qin Sang was Xiang Qing, who had arrived first due to his proximity to Endless Valley.

They had worked together at Divine Gale Peak to subdue the Ancestral Sacred Flame, so they somewhat knew each other.

Beside Xiang Qing stood a devilish cultivator at the Spiritual Infant Realm, who had been stationed here recently to monitor Blood Lake’s seal and relay information.

Apart from them, the rest were all Golden Core cultivators.

"Daoist Xiang, Daoist Hong..." Qin Sang greeted them.

Noticing that the Golden Core cultivators were standing far off to the side, whispering among themselves, he felt slightly surprised.

Blood Lake was not merely sealed. Even Spiritual Infant grandmasters had to proceed with extreme caution inside.

Their goal in entering Blood Lake was to scheme against Sin Abyss. These Golden Core cultivators would not only be of no help, but would also become a burden.

Xiang Qing glanced at them and said indifferently, "They’re all desperate adventurers. Somehow they heard that Blood Lake has reappeared and want to take advantage of the chaos. Back then, someone managed to find Infinite Blood Mulberry Wood here. Perhaps this time, there will also be those blessed with great fortune. But it's hard to say how many will make it out alive..."

Qin Sang observed that most of them were disciples from major sects. With their access to information, they had likely received guidance from their elders.

Although they did not lack cultivation resources, it was common to be stuck at bottlenecks for over a century. Many bold individuals ventured into forbidden grounds and hidden realms in search of opportunities.

Qin Sang himself had walked that same path.

"So this is Blood Lake? It’s smaller than the one in Abyssal Ruin..." Qin Sang stepped forward and examined it.

Blood Lake was wedged between two masses of clouds formed by ancient barriers, leaving only a narrow, band-like opening. They stood at one end of that gap.

Strangely, Blood Lake neither touched the sky nor the ground. It floated suspended in mid-air, continuously emitting thick waves of blood qi.
