Chapter 1215: Trapping the Spirit

Chapter 1215: Trapping the Spirit

With the road ahead uncertain, the Snake King could not help but feel uneasy.

However, as he watched Qin Sang move with exceptional familiarity through the layers of gloomy clouds, clearly well-acquainted with the terrain and not like someone who had just infiltrated Abyssal Ruin, he gradually felt reassured.

Although the malicious spirit was powerful, without interference from the Sin Abyss cultivators, Qin Sang and the Snake King working together still possessed the ability to protect themselves. It was only that shaking it off in a short time was difficult.

Because they had been locked onto by the malicious spirit, Qin Sang and the Snake King could not conceal their auras or hide their tracks. They could only hasten toward the location Qin Sang had chosen to trap the spirit.

At the moment they broke out of the banner array, Cold Lizard and Old Devil Ye had already exchanged several clashes in an instant. In the end, the snow bead condensed into a streak of cold light, piercing through the blood waters like a sharp sword.

"Elder Ye..." Jiang Chenzi and the other two had failed to stop Qin Sang and the Snake King, and they looked rather disheveled.

Seeing the situation develop to this point, their expressions turned somewhat awkward.

They were fighting two with three, with the malicious spirit assisting and a prepared banner array. They had held every advantage, yet the enemy had still escaped.

"They will not easily shake off the malicious spirit. We will capture them at once." The three prepared to move, hoping to redeem themselves.

"No need! Cold Lizard and Old Ghost Lu are already at the end of their strength. The two Daoists at the entrance of Abyssal Ruin will surely deal them a heavy blow. I will leave this place to you all." Old Devil Ye did not continue the pursuit. Instead, he stopped and issued instructions to Jiang Chenzi and the others.

Jiang Chenzi was taken aback. "Then the Snake King—"

Old Devil Ye cut him off. "I will personally go meet them! I heard that Daoist Pei fell at Tianxing Highland, killed by a demon king who wielded fire banners and a lightning art. That one should be Demon King Ming Yue, correct? Old Ghost Lu has long hidden in the desert, content with staying in a corner. The Snake King is not much to worry about either. But Demon King Ming Yue is not simple. To already possess such strength now, his potential is something I have never seen before. In the future, he will surely become a grave threat."

As he spoke, Old Devil Ye glanced at Blood Lake and continued, "Just now I used a secret technique to suppress Blood Lake, but it was only barely achieved. If it backlashes, do your best to delay it, lest all our efforts be wasted."

At the mention of Blood Lake, Jiang Chenzi and the others grew solemn and immediately acknowledged the order. Clearly, Blood Lake was far more important than pursuing Qin Sang and the others.

Their exchange of spiritual consciousness took only an instant. Old Devil Ye then cast several barriers into Blood Lake, sensed the traces left behind by the malicious spirit, and transformed into a streak of blood-colored evasion light, giving chase.

Jiang Chenzi and the others remained behind. One stayed to guard Blood Lake, while the other two slipped underground.

In the distance, layers upon layers of dark clouds stretched on, ancient barriers linked together.

Qin Sang and the Snake King fought as they retreated, moving through narrow gaps. Before long, they sensed a powerful aura rapidly approaching from behind.

"Old Devil Ye is personally pursuing us!" The Snake King’s expression changed slightly.

Qin Sang had not expected Old Devil Ye to forgo chasing Cold Lizard and Daoist Lu and instead choose them.

Yet he did not panic. His gaze pierced through the clouds, and he saw several faint mountain silhouettes ahead. He sent a message to the Snake King, proceeding according to the original plan. "Up ahead is one of the spirit-trapping zones I mentioned. It is more dangerous than the others, but the situation leaves us no choice. We must shake off the malicious spirit as quickly as possible. Assist me and lure it into the ancient barriers!"

"Understood!" The Snake King’s expression sharpened as he responded.

He opened his mouth and spat out a mass of demonic clouds, revealing his true form. His appearance did not change much, only gaining a layer of azure scales. It was evident that he had not deliberately taken a half-human, half-snake form, this was his true body, and his bloodline was very unique.

Boom! An azure sphere of light brushed past Qin Sang and plunged into a patch of dark clouds, exploding within.

The clouds shifted, activating the ancient barriers, which retaliated automatically. Streams of azure radiance shot out in all directions. The attacks were indiscriminate. Not only did they target the malicious spirit, but Qin Sang and the Snake King were also affected.

The Snake King exhaled clouds and mist, shielding Qin Sang.

Qin Sang maneuvered swiftly, weaving through the gaps. In contrast, the malicious spirit advanced with overwhelming force. When the azure radiance struck it, it wrapped around like ropes, only to be forcibly shattered.

After a stretch of rapid flight, the mountain silhouettes ahead became clearer.

Qin Sang swept his gaze across them, locating a flaw in the ancient barriers he had previously identified. Fortunately, it had not changed.

He darted into the dark clouds. The malicious spirit, heedless of everything, followed him in.

The moment he entered, Qin Sang felt the surrounding space become extraordinarily deep. Before his eyes stretched a boundless void filled with countless glittering stars, as if he had entered deep space. Emptiness surrounded him completely.

The stars shimmered. Each seemed within reach, yet impossibly distant. It was unclear whether they were real or illusion, and even the Sky-Eyed Butterfly could not see through them. A profound sense of isolation surged within him.

Feeling the power of the ancient barriers, Qin Sang was inwardly shocked. This was after they had been weakened by the passage of time. If he had not identified their flaws beforehand, he and the malicious spirit would have been trapped together, and escaping would have required considerable effort.

Qin Sang abruptly halted, not daring to move recklessly for fear of disturbing the barriers.

A chill ran down his back. He knew the malicious spirit’s attack had followed him in. He immediately drove the ebony sword, slashing to the left.

The sword light drifted outward, striking nothing tangible. The void trembled slightly, and the stars rippled like reflections on water. A spatial fissure opened to Qin Sang’s left, and without hesitation, he leapt into it.

The void collapsed and reality returned. Qin Sang emerged, letting out a quiet breath of relief. He then saw a violent storm raging within the clouds as the malicious spirit struggled fiercely. Without looking back, he turned and fled.

Thud! The moment he emerged, Qin Sang heard a muffled sound and saw that the Snake King had been struck and sent flying.

While Qin Sang had been luring the malicious spirit into the trap, Old Devil Ye had arrived in pursuit and had been intercepted by the Snake King.

Seeing blood at the Snake King’s lips and many of his scales torn away, his body covered in blood, Qin Sang was startled. In such a short time, the Snake King had already shown signs of defeat.

Old Devil Ye’s strength exceeded all expectations. Without a word, Qin Sang drove the ebony sword toward Old Devil Ye.

Old Devil Ye had been about to press his advantage when his vision darkened. He immediately recognized it as the sword array Qin Sang had used earlier.

Even the malicious spirit had been hindered by this sword array, so he dared not be careless. Flipping his palm, a blood wheel appeared above his head, spinning rapidly. Droplets of blood rain fell, forming tassel-like strands of crimson, filling the air with a pungent stench of blood.

They are all secret techniques and treasures of the Blood Dao... Could he really be something like the Seeded Devil Embryo, a blood-fed incarnation? This thought flashed through Qin Sang’s mind.

The surrounding space blurred. Within the sword array, countless gray threads twisted and tore at Old Devil Ye.

"The malicious spirit is trapped. Let's go!" Having succeeded with a single strike, Qin Sang immediately called to the Snake King and fled without hesitation. He had no intention of entangling himself with Old Devil Ye. It was only a matter of time before the malicious spirit broke free, and retreat was the best option.

The Snake King finally caught his breath, his expression easing. He glanced back at Old Devil Ye, recalling the helplessness he had just felt, and could not suppress his shock.

Moments later, Old Devil Ye broke through the sword array. Watching the two fleeing figures, he frowned slightly.

They had fled in that direction with clear intent. It seemed they had another escape route, one that lay deep within Abyssal Ruin, a place even the Sin Abyss cultivators rarely dared to enter.
