Chapter 1784 - 1722: Heading to the Northern Region

Chapter 1784: Chapter 1722: Heading to the Northern Region

Wufu decided to go to the Northern Region and meet Ah Jiu. She was concerned about Ah Jiu being there alone. If Emperor Yan harbors no ill intentions, that’s one thing; but if he does, and Ah Jiu is all alone with no support, she would be heartbroken.

Hua Wushuang, however, disagreed with Wufu going to the Northern Region. For one, the terrain and environment there were harsh, and she had just started gaining some weight. Who knows what hardships she would face?

Secondly, he was somewhat selfish and didn’t want Wufu to take risks. Ah Jiu was a prince, and if he truly couldn’t even protect himself, then it’s genuinely worrying.

He didn’t believe that young man was truly so useless.

But Wufu was firm in her decision to go, and he couldn’t change her mind, so he could only prepare a team for her.

Wufu couldn’t take Xiao Changsheng to the Northern Region. If she insisted on taking him along, Hua Wushuang might just fight her over it.

And Wufu herself didn’t want the little one to endure the hardships of traveling.

"In two months, when the weather cools, you can bring Changsheng to Beiyan," Wufu said to Hua Wushuang.

Hua Wushuang said, "I can’t promise you that. We have to wait until he’s physically stronger."

Wufu gave a sideways glare: "You’re not planning to stay in Quanzhou with Changsheng once I’m gone, are you?"

Hua Wushuang did have that thought, saying, "If possible, it wouldn’t be bad—after all, he’s still young and frail, constantly changing locations isn’t good for him." Seeing Wufu’s face grow darker, he quickly added, "Once he’s healthier, I’ll take him to you."

Wufu snorted.

"I’m his actual uncle; I’ll rely on him in the future. Would I harm him?" Hua Wushuang said with a smile, albeit helplessly, "Rest assured, once he’s stronger, I’ll bring him to find you!"

"You better keep your word," Wufu crossed her arms.

"Take care in the Northern Region; I’ve heard it’s not very peaceful." Hua Wushuang handed her an iron tag, saying, "Take this tag. In the Northern Region, Eagle Hall has some manpower; you can contact Mei’s Grocery Store."

Wufu raised an eyebrow, took the tag, glanced at it. It had intricate patterns on it. She put it in her bosom: "Thanks."

Hua Wushuang said, "I thought you wouldn’t want it!"

"Am I stupid?" Wufu rolled her eyes, saying, "Knowing it’s not peaceful, why wouldn’t I take more measures for safety? I’m proud, but not arrogant."

"Good to know." Hua Wushuang looked at her and said, "Be careful; don’t send someone to ask me to collect your body."

"Ugh!" Wufu spat in mock disgust, "Only today did I realize you’re so sharp-tongued. Can’t you say something nice?"

Despite her words, Wufu felt warmth flowing through her heart; his sharpness came from concern.

She looked at Xiao Changsheng in Hua Wushuang’s arms, her gaze softened, touching his little face, murmured, "I’ll leave Changsheng in your care."

"Don’t worry." Hua Wushuang looked down at the little one, quietly yawning in his arms, his eyes soft and tender, this was his life.

Wufu knew Hua Wushuang would do everything to protect him, so she said no more, bent down to kiss the little one’s forehead, then turned and mounted her horse.

She was never one to drag things out.

"Be careful in everything, your life’s a priority." Hua Wushuang couldn’t help but shout.

Wufu raised her hand: "See you in Beiyan."

With a flick of the whip, several fine horses galloped away. Hua Wushuang watched as she vanished from sight, let out a sigh, as if lamenting a daughter who couldn’t be kept.

"Ah."

Hua Wushuang heard Changsheng’s grunt and smiled: "Luckily, I still have you, little one. Come, Uncle will play with you!"
