Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Sasha Is Spoiled
"No!" Bonnie shook its head vigorously. "I don’t want to see Sasha and Layla!"
Hearing this, Renee Jennings frowned slightly. "Do you hate them?"
"I hate them!" Bonnie’s expression was furious. "They’re so mean! I’m never playing with them again!"
Hilary asked worriedly, "Host Jennings, what is Bonnie saying? Did Sasha and Layla bully it?"
’I’ve been taking care of Bonnie this whole time, and I didn’t even notice it was being bullied. I’ve been so negligent!’
Renee Jennings said in a grave tone, "Bonnie says Sasha and Layla always make fun of it, call it ugly, and snatch its food during mealtimes."
Viewers in the livestream chat who were fans of Sasha started to argue back.
[No way! Sasha is so cute, there’s no way she’d bully Bonnie!]
[I don’t believe Sasha would bully a companion!]
[Feels like Sasha is being targeted.]
Bonnie’s round eyes grew moist as it continued to pour out its grievances. "They were the ones who wanted to be good friends with me, but then they bullied me! I never want to be friends with them again!"
Renee Jennings repeated what it said.
[Sob... Bonnie is being bullied!]
[Poor Bonnie! Host, you have to help it!]
Hilary’s brow furrowed tightly. She couldn’t believe Sasha and Layla would treat Bonnie this way.
Every mealtime, she had assumed they were sharing food with each other. The thought that Bonnie was being bullied had never crossed her mind.
Seeing Bonnie look so wronged and miserable, Hilary felt a pang of both heartache and self-reproach.
She reached out and stroked Bonnie’s head. "I’m sorry, Bonnie. I’m so sorry you had to go through that."
Bonnie kept its head down, its mouth in a pout, not saying a word.
[Bonnie can’t go on like this; it’s going to get depressed!]
[This needs to be taken seriously!!!]
Renee Jennings watched Bonnie’s dejected state through the screen and asked softly, "Bonnie, if Sasha and Layla apologized to you, would you be willing to be friends with them again?"
Bonnie froze for a moment, then looked up at the screen and said agitatedly, "They’re so mean! Why would they ever apologize to me? They’ll never apologize!"
Renee Jennings could sense Bonnie’s deep-seated resistance and resentment toward Sasha and Layla.
’The bullying must have been severe.’
"Bonnie, try not to be sad," Renee Jennings soothed. "Maybe we can find a solution."
Bonnie fell silent, shoved the phone back at Hilary, and moved to another spot to lick its wounds in solitude.
"Bonnie..." Hilary watched its retreating form, her eyes turning red. She choked back a sob and asked, "Host Jennings, is there anything you can do to help Bonnie?"
"Hilary," Renee Jennings said, her brow furrowed, "take me to see Sasha and Layla first. I’ll try to talk with them."
"Okay." Hilary raised a hand to wipe away her tears, struggling to remain calm.
Renee Jennings asked her to describe Sasha and Layla’s personalities.
"Sasha is rather proud and mischievous," Hilary said. "She’s also very competitive and has to be first in everything. Plus, she’s great at charming the tourists, so a lot of them like her more."
"Layla is better-behaved, by comparison, but it loves to stick close to Sasha and tends to do what Sasha says. It used to get along pretty well with Bonnie, though."
"Okay." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod. "I see."
Hilary slowed her pace and turned the camera to point forward.
Onscreen, two orangutans sat on a woven hammock, chewing on green beans and surrounded by a crowd of tourists.
Hilary explained, "The one with the braids is Sasha, and the one next to her is Layla."
Renee Jennings: "Got it."
Hilary walked forward and greeted a male colleague around her age. "Brother Gus, I got into Renee Jennings’s stream!"
"No way, really?" Brother Gus was astonished. "Let me see."
Hilary held the phone out to him. "See for yourself."
When Brother Gus saw the familiar face on the screen, his own face lit up. He waved at the camera and said, "Hello, Host Jennings! I’ve been following you for a long time!"
"Hello," Renee Jennings replied with a smile. "Thank you for following. The honor is all mine."
"Joy, quick, take a screenshot for me!" Brother Gus was thrilled. ’My moment of glory!’ He’d post it on his social media feed later.
"Okay." With a few quick taps, Hilary took some screenshots, then said, "I brought Host Jennings here to have a chat with Sasha and Layla."
"Great idea!" Brother Gus nodded eagerly. "Ask Host Jennings to find out what Sasha and Layla think of me!"
Hilary: "Okay, I’ll ask later. We have something more important to deal with right now."
Hearing this, Brother Gus blinked curiously. "What’s that?"
Hilary leaned into his ear and quickly explained the situation in a hushed voice.
Brother Gus’s brow furrowed at once, his expression turning serious. "That really happened?"
Hilary sighed. "You’ve seen how strange Bonnie has been acting lately."
"Yeah," Brother Gus sighed as well. "Then you should hurry and have Host Jennings ask them."
"Okay." Hilary nodded and held the phone up in front of Sasha and Layla. "Sasha, Layla, a lady here wants to have a little chat with you. Is that okay?"
Sasha, still chewing on her green bean, shot a contemptuous glance at Renee Jennings on the screen. "Plenty of humans want to chat with us. Tell her to get in line!"
Renee Jennings could sense the hostility in Sasha’s words.
She said slowly, "Sasha, are you saying there’s a line to chat with you?"
[Ahhh! Sasha’s expression looks just like the mean girls at my school...]
[Sasha, how could you be like this?]
[In contrast, this just makes me feel so bad for Bonnie.]
[Host, you have to stand up for Bonnie!]
"Of course!" Sasha said haughtily. "Do you have any idea how many humans adore me? Besides, you haven’t even come here in person to give me a gift, yet you expect me to chat with you through a phone? I’m not giving you the time of day!"
With that, she stuck out a furry left hand and pushed Hilary’s phone away. "Go away, go away!"
The surrounding tourists saw this and all burst into laughter.
"Sasha is so cute!"
"Hahaha, Sasha doesn’t want to look at the phone, she just wants to eat her green beans!"
"Sasha’s basically saying, ’Don’t bother me while I’m eating my green beans!’"
"..."
After hearing what Sasha said, a look of astonishment appeared on Renee Jennings’s face.
[What’s with the host’s expression? What did Sasha say?]
[Looks like Sasha really despises the host, lol]
Hilary quickly asked, "Host Jennings, what’s wrong?"
Renee Jennings’s tone was tinged with helplessness. "You said Sasha was proud, and I believe you. She says she doesn’t want to talk to me because I haven’t given her a gift. Do visitors normally bring her gifts?"
Upon hearing this, Hilary explained, "I think one time, a tourist who came to see the orangutans was wearing a butterfly or flower-shaped hair clip, and Sasha took it and put it in her own fur."
"The tourist posted a video of it online, and after that, everyone found out that Sasha loves to look pretty and likes hair accessories. Now, people who come to see her always bring pretty hair clips and things to give to her."
"So that’s what happened." Renee Jennings sighed. "Sasha must be spoiled rotten."
