Starting with a Super Five-Star Hotel

Chapter 332 Double Protection_1

Her scheming was quite something. She imagined herself riding atop Su Xuan's head, just as she had with her ex-boyfriend when she was alive.

This was a new ability she had mastered after her death. To ride on someone was to control them. This way, she wouldn't have to worry about Su Xuan going back on his word. But she never expected that this seemingly clever move would be her complete undoing.

She hadn't even gotten within a meter of him when a flash of red suddenly appeared in front of Su Xuan.

That flash of red was a woman in a stunning red dress, so beautiful she could topple cities and nations. The ghost had never seen such a beautiful woman. She was so beautiful that the ghost didn't dare feel jealous, only able to humbly admire her.

"How audacious!"

As soon as the woman in red appeared, she raised a slender hand and seized the ghost by the neck. And it wasn't just the woman in red; a sprightly, cute little girl appeared as well, grabbing the ghost's leg.

An extremely dangerous aura washed over the ghost from the woman in red, so terrifying that it made her tremble uncontrollably. Even the little girl seemed to be a dangerous entity, far more so than herself.

Su Xuan actually has double protection!

"Please, let me…"

Realizing her predicament, the ghost immediately tried to beg the woman and the little girl to let her go, but before she could finish, the woman in red squeezed her slender hand.

POP!

A faint sound echoed through the air. The ghost instantly disintegrated, collapsing into a mass of black mist.

The woman in red turned, gave Su Xuan a glare filled with an unreadable meaning, and vanished abruptly.

"So fierce," Su Xuan pouted, pretending to be scared.

"Yummy! So yummy!"

The little girl, however, stood there, inhaling the black mist left behind by the vanquished ghost as if savoring a delicious meal.

"How… How am I on the rooftop?"

At this point, the young man woke up. He looked utterly bewildered, as if just stirring from a sleepwalking trance.

Su Xuan walked over, patted the young man on the shoulder, and said warmly, "Is the academic pressure getting to you? Did you come up here for some fresh air?"

"That must be it," the young man mumbled in a daze.

"If you still have class, you should hurry back. The courses here aren't cheap, you know," Su Xuan advised.

"Right, right! I still have half a class to finish!"

The young man hastily left the rooftop, muttering, "So strange, so strange," as he went.

"Oh, thank you!" Before leaving, he turned back and thanked Su Xuan. He didn't know why, but he felt a deep-seated need to thank Su Xuan, as if his conscience wouldn't be at peace otherwise.

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

As soon as the young man left, Principal Xu and the others standing on the opposite rooftop started applauding, celebrating Su Xuan's resolution of a crisis at their school. They were all baffled, however, having no idea how Su Xuan had actually handled it. He had just stood there silently, walked over to pat the young man on the back, and the student had obediently left.

Our boss is incredible! Did he really just subdue that guy with his charisma?

"Let's go."

Seeing that the little girl had almost finished absorbing the black mist, Su Xuan spoke to her in his mind. The girl bounced down the stairs after him.

After absorbing that black mist, the little girl seems to have changed in some subtle way, Su Xuan thought, wondering if she would become even fiercer the next time she got angry. He wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing for her.

"Do you want a name?" Su Xuan asked the little girl as they went downstairs.

"Yes, yes!" The little girl's eyes shone with excitement.

"Then you should think of a name you like and tell me," Su Xuan said.

The light in the little girl's eyes immediately died down; she had thought Su Xuan was going to give her a name.

"I want to be called Precious…"

"Petal would be okay too…"

"How about Cutie?"

As the little girl mumbled to herself, Su Xuan once again bid farewell to Principal Xu and the others and drove away.

He worked as a rideshare driver all day but failed to land a single super order. All his passengers were too by-the-book, and nothing particularly special happened.

"Su Xuan, want to have dinner together tonight?"

Just as he was thinking of calling it a day, Long Xiwén suddenly called him.

"You have time to go out for dinner?" Su Xuan asked with a hint of surprise. "You're not busy with that case anymore?"

"The main culprit has been caught!" Long Xiwén's voice was filled with excitement. "We managed to persuade Aunt Li, and she convinced her son to turn himself in. Chief Zhong said I made a great contribution this time and will be in charge of more important cases in the future! Hee hee, so I absolutely must treat you to dinner tonight!"

"Okay!"

Su Xuan readily agreed. After settling on a place with Long Xiwén, he drove home. The reason he went home was that his car's battery was almost dead; he had gotten home too late last night and forgotten to charge it.

Once home, he switched to his Koenigsegg and headed to the restaurant he and Long Xiwén had agreed upon.

It was a small restaurant tucked away in an alley, with elegant decor featuring wooden tables and chairs. There were no private rooms; instead, decorative landscape screens separated each table, creating an antique ambiance. Bookshelves filled with books lined the walls.

"Su Xuan, over here!"

As soon as Su Xuan entered, Long Xiwén stood up from her seat and waved at him.

"This is my favorite place to eat." As Su Xuan took his seat, Long Xiwén poured him some tea. "It's very quiet here, with very few customers. It's perfect for a meal and a chat, or just for thinking."

"Yes, it's nice," Su Xuan nodded. He glanced at a book lying on the table in front of Long Xiwén and asked, "Which do you think enhances a person's temperament more: reading books or wearing fancy clothes?"

Without hesitation, Long Xiwén replied, "A cultured mind gives one a natural grace, of course. The whole 'clothes make the man' idea is just a marketing ploy to get people to spend money."

"That's a good way of thinking," Su Xuan smiled.

"Ah? Were you just testing me?" Long Xiwén blinked her long-lashed eyes in puzzlement, completely unaware of what Su Xuan had encountered that day.

"Not at all. Let's order," Su Xuan said, rubbing his stomach. "I'm exhausted and starving after working all day."

"Sure."

Long Xiwén quickly ordered their food and even selected a bottle of strong liquor.

This surprised Su Xuan. "You like to drink this?"

Long Xiwén admitted sheepishly, "Sorry, it's a habit. My colleagues are all rough-and-tumble guys, and we always drink strong liquor when we eat together. Besides… they used to say I was timid, so they'd always push me to drink more, claiming it would give a coward courage…"

"Haha!" Su Xuan couldn't help but laugh. "So, are you still timid now?"

"Not anymore," Long Xiwén said earnestly. "After what happened at the villa, I feel like there's nothing left to be afraid of."

"Alright, then I'll drink a few more bottles tonight." Su Xuan picked up the bottle and began to pour, muttering to himself, "With my tolerance, three bottles should be easy, and four wouldn't be a problem."

"Ah?" Long Xiwén, who had just declared she wasn't afraid of anything, suddenly grew anxious. "Don't drink so much! This stuff is expensive, over three hundred yuan a bottle!"

"Drink up, feel free!"

Suddenly, a man swaggered over and, without waiting for permission, sat down at their table. He declared boisterously, "I'm paying tonight, so drink as much as you like!"

Then he turned to Su Xuan. His gaze, full of vigilance and hostility, fixed on him as he asked, "And you are?"
