Starting with a Super Five-Star Hotel

Chapter 300 Bizarre Energy Entity_1

"Interesting." Su Xuan stroked his chin, his expression complex.

As soon as the woman in red appeared in his passenger seat, the girl in the red skirt at the intersection immediately pushed her bicycle away. She moved quickly, and in the blink of an eye, both she and her bicycle were gone, as if they had evaporated into thin air.

"System!" Su Xuan immediately called out. "Can you tell me what's going on?"

Have your enhancements broken me or something? Why am I seeing those things more and more frequently?

System: "..."

"Don't play dumb!" Su Xuan snapped.

System: "..."

Left with no choice, Su Xuan tried a different approach. "To what extent have you enhanced my body? Why can I see things I couldn't before?"

System: "The host's body has been strengthened sixteen times and can now sensitively detect energy fluctuations that ordinary people cannot perceive."

"Oh." Su Xuan's mouth fell open. He didn't fully understand, but he had a vague idea.

The girl in the red skirt must be some kind of energy fluctuation—an energy body—and my eyes can see her. I once read a scientifically questionable study online claiming that when a person dies, their consciousness doesn't vanish with their physical body. Instead, it transforms into another form of existence, possibly the energy fluctuations the system just mentioned. This is also why a body is slightly lighter after death. But not everyone is like this. For some, death is the end; dust returns to dust. Only those with deep, lingering attachments before death might become like this.

I should check this out.

Su Xuan glanced at the intersection's street sign and took out his phone to search for any recent traffic accidents. The girl in the red skirt looked like she had died in one. He narrowed his eyes as he read the results. A traffic accident had occurred at this very intersection just a few days ago. A girl had been killed by a drunk driver! There was even a video online.

Su Xuan clicked on the video. A girl in a red skirt was riding her bicycle normally along the road when a car, without slowing down at all, struck her. She was sent flying through the air, like a dazzling sunset…

This was undoubtedly an accidental death. She must have had unfulfilled wishes, right? Is that why she refuses to dissipate completely?

As Su Xuan pondered this, he gestured towards the passenger seat. "That... are you also..."

He suddenly chuckled. The woman in red was long gone.

Was the woman in red also an energy body? Refusing to dissipate because of unfulfilled wishes?

Su Xuan drove away from the intersection, but he suddenly spotted the girl in the red skirt in his rearview mirror, chasing his car on her bicycle!

SCREECH!

Su Xuan slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road.

It was fortunate this happened to him. After being cursed by Zhai Defeng, seeing the red-clothed shadow, and witnessing the Bodhisattva Upside-Down Sitting at Zhuilong Mountain, he had built up a resistance. Seeing the girl in the red skirt chasing him didn't stir any panic in his heart. If it were anyone else, they would have been so scared they wouldn't dare leave the house for days. They might even go to a hospital to see if something was wrong with their mind.

"Do you need something?" Su Xuan politely rolled down the window.

As he spoke, he glanced at the passenger seat. The figure in red didn't appear this time. He guessed she considered the girl in the red skirt harmless.

The girl in the red skirt stopped her bicycle outside his car window. Her mouth opened and closed as if she was speaking, but Su Xuan couldn't hear a single word. Frowning, the girl thought for a moment, then pointed at herself and then in a specific direction before riding her bicycle that way.

She wants to take me somewhere!

After a moment's thought, Su Xuan started the car and followed her. He followed the girl into an old residential complex, stopping at the base of an apartment building. He then followed her up the stairs, stopping in front of a unit with a security door.

The girl passed right through the security door as if it were nothing. Su Xuan, of course, couldn't do that. He pushed and pulled on the door, but it was locked.

The girl then phased back through the door and gestured anxiously at Su Xuan, as if there was something very important inside. She then pointed to the doormat.

Su Xuan understood immediately. He lifted the mat and found a key. He used the key to unlock the door. With a click, it opened!

Upon pushing the door open, a stale, musty smell hit him.

Su Xuan followed the girl in the red skirt straight into a room, where he saw an unexpected sight. A dog lay motionless on the floor. Huddled beside her were several small puppies, unable to get any more milk from their mother.

"They're all still alive."

Su Xuan checked the puppies, then quickly left. When he returned, he was carrying food. He fed the little dogs one by one with milk, sausages, and biscuits.

Strangely, when he tried to feed the mother dog, she only glanced at him before staring intently at the empty air beside him—right where the girl in the red skirt was standing.

The dog can see her!

"If you're just worried about them, then you can rest easy," Su Xuan said to the girl in the red skirt after feeding the dogs. "I'll take care of them for you. Hm... and it just so happens my yard could use some dogs."

The girl in the red skirt quickly bowed to Su Xuan in gratitude. The mother dog, showing remarkable intelligence, also lifted her front paws toward Su Xuan as if in a salute, though she did it while lying on the ground.

Su Xuan then began carrying the dogs to his car, one by one, as the girl in the red skirt watched.

"What about you?" Su Xuan asked her after all the dogs were in the car.

The girl in the red skirt folded her hands, placed them on her knees, and gave Su Xuan a deep bow. Then, her form grew fainter and fainter until she finally vanished from his sight, her last wish seemingly fulfilled.

Su Xuan felt a sense of peace and warmth wash over him, as if he had received some kind of blessing.

「Meanwhile,」

Under Lady Bai's bed, the small paper effigy bearing Su Xuan's name suddenly quivered. A wisp of black smoke dissipated from it...

Su Xuan drove the dogs home.

"Brother Su, where did you get these dogs?"

"Are they for us?"

The two siblings were thrilled to see the puppies. They used to have a big black dog, but they couldn't bring it to Su Xuan's house because it was actually a wolf. They had let it return to the forest where it belonged.

"I'm leaving them in your care, so take good care of them, okay?"

Su Xuan ruffled the siblings' hair. Seeing it was just noon, he had a simple lunch at home and then went out to drive for DiDi again. Only four rides remained for the second stage of his mission; completion was imminent.

But what he didn't expect was that in the evening, just as he was about to finish work, he would encounter another rather bizarre incident...
