From the tribal era, when the first grasp of Magic Power emerged, to now, one after another, new magic spells continually appear, showing no sign of slowing down; on the contrary, the more one explores, the more one feels the boundless vastness of magic.
Every powerful Mage must inevitably possess abundant curiosity.
Clearly, with just a brief remark, Wizard Shen Yu has thoroughly ignited the curiosity of Acosta, the Magic Emperor.
Yet, Wizard Shen Yu does not begrudge sharing.
He needs to build confidence within this world's civilization to resist the Divine Spirits.
The best method is none other than to display a stage that surpasses the gods!
"That world itself has no Divine Spirits, not even Extraordinary Power. However, there are people like me who have reincarnated there; what happens next is hard to say." Wizard Shen Yu said calmly, "After all, this is but our Ascension Trial."
"Ascension Trial!" Acosta's gaze was no longer merely desirous, but now burned with fervor. "Can I understand it this way—you're still mortal now, but you have the possibility to become a god?"
Exactly—he had directly grasped the most crucial point.
In this Plane, or rather, in every Plane.
Gods are gods.
Humans are humans.
Gods have existed since ancient times, even earlier than humanity itself—born as true deities, entirely different from mortals, and having completely surpassed the mortal realm.
Once upon a time someone claimed that powerful Mages were gods.
But that is because Mages sense the immensity of magic.
Yet, they also understand the Mighty Power possessed by the Divine Spirits!
Acosta is already the mightiest Mage in this entire Plane; he even believes he might surpass any Mage who came before.
But before Divine Punishment, he is equally depleted. Even struggling with all his might, he can only barely see a sliver of hope.
And that was but a casual setup by the Divine Spirits. Compared to the Mighty Power they have displayed, it hardly matters.
Thus, no matter how powerful a Mage becomes, he too remains bewildered at heart.
Does magic's future truly have no limits?
Can humanity really reach the realm of the gods?
Acosta among them also longs for answers to these two questions.
And now, the mysterious Mage before him seems able to answer them!
Wizard Shen Yu fully understands this feeling, but it is precisely this message he wants to give them, give this world.
"My soul originates from a distant, mighty place," Wizard Shen Yu said solemnly, "so powerful that it utterly exceeds your imagination. Even the Divine Spirits of this world could not fathom such a level, for the Divine Spirits are only confined to this Plane, whereas our steps have long since crossed Planes, spanning the vaster All Heavens World!"
Wizard Shen Yu was not speaking idly.
He raised his hand, casting magic to directly reveal a series of scenes.
There were colossal warships flying amidst the boundless cosmos; Martial Arts Masters cleaving lofty mountains with a single sword strike; apocalyptic nuclear explosions ravaging everything…
With just a few glimpses, he had already displayed worlds that Mages could not even imagine.
Acosta, even, was completely entranced.
Mages yearn to explore the unknown, endlessly curious about all things they have never touched, never known.
Yet what he now saw—everything here—was utterly beyond their knowledge!
Every Plane they explored before was, in fact, much like their own Plane.
The same Magic Power and the same Divine Spirits!
However, Acosta had not forgotten the crucial point.
"So, you view the gods from a higher perspective, and you believe mortals genuinely have the possibility of becoming gods?" he asked again.
This question concerns their survival under the will of the gods, whether they might truly gain hope to defeat Divine Punishment.
"It's not a possibility. It is inevitable!" Wizard Shen Yu declared.
The next instant, he directly invoked the Gray Mist.
Acosta felt an irresistible Mighty Power assault his soul; even his breathing seemed to cease entirely.
This power—he knew it all too well!
Facing the gods, it is always this feeling of helplessness.
But beyond helplessness, everything was so unfamiliar.
His soul was utterly uncontrollable, consciousness seemed to leave the flesh, floating upward, overlooking the whole kingdom, the entire Plane, then escaping the boundaries of the Plane, gazing down upon plane after plane.
In another flash, he seemed to transcend dimensions!
In infinite worlds, traversing one after another of legendary, resplendent worlds.
Even a fleeting glance offered too much to behold.
Until, at the final instant, his soul arrived at a realm filled with Gray Mist—and mere awareness of this brought an indescribable suffocation surging forth.
The impact upon his soul was beyond comprehension.
To gaze directly upon the Divine Spirits? No, this was even more terrifying!
It was as if he had arrived at the ultimate forbidden zone of life!
In the final moment, he glimpsed the majestic halls, half-revealed within the Gray Mist!
When his senses returned, his face remained pale, the soul delivered stabs of pain as if punished, yet he knew all too clearly, this was no punishment, but rather, remnants of his soul failing to bear witness to a great existence—even for a single glance!
"Are you still alright, Headmaster?" Wizard Shen Yu himself felt a tinge of worry—had he gone too far?
All before this was mere illusion conjured by the Gray Mist, but later, he simulated the true feeling of an organism entering the Gray Mist Space.
He had heard Martial Artist Shen Yu say that when Martial Arts Masters traveled via Gray Mist Space to other worlds—even for just a moment—they suffered considerable shock.
"Still alive." Acosta's voice was hoarse, staring dazedly at Wizard Shen Yu. "That place—what is it?"
No matter how intense one's curiosity, one would still fear such indescribable mystery and power!
It felt as though he had far surpassed what life could endure.
"That is where I come from," Wizard Shen Yu slowly replied, "Some things, words are feeble and cannot describe. Only by experiencing it oneself can one understand, even if it's only the briefest, most basic contact."
"...Yes." Acosta entirely admitted this.
That feeling truly cannot be conveyed in words.
But he now gazed at Wizard Shen Yu with wholly transformed eyes.
In his prior conjectures, the most outlandish, the best result was that this man was backed by some Divine Spirit, one who did not wish to destroy the world.
But now, he knew the truth.
The truth was a hundred times wilder!
Divine Spirits?
Having just experienced what he did, he felt even the gods were nothing exceptional.
Indeed, this is the effect of having witnessed a grander, more immense existence.
Just as, after beholding the light of the Great Sun, would one still find the stars dazzling?
"You just spoke of an Ascension Trial?" Acosta asked again, "To that place, the Divine Spirits are insignificant, aren't they?"
It's hard to imagine such words coming from his lips.
If others heard, they might suspect he had been possessed.
However, that indescribable sensation truly overturned all his understanding of power, of gods, of 'greatness'!
"As I've said, in our view, no matter how mighty an existence is, it too climbs step by step from mortality."
Wizard Shen Yu offered the faintest smile, his tone calm and slow:
"Even those existences far greater than the Divine Spirits still identify themselves as human. This is the fundamental difference between us and the gods of this world.
We believe that even the weakest mortals have the possibility to create infinite power.
But the road must be walked step by step. The gods I speak of are those you recognize as 'gods'—perhaps they are not so strong in all the All Heavens World, but before achieving greater goals, one must first reach this step. If you cannot even overcome such gods, how could you hope for something greater?"
