Becoming a Saint by Touching Corpses

Chapter 117: Trap

The Red-crowned Bird resembles a pheasant, entirely pitch black, with a comb on its head larger than its own skull. The comb is red and semi-transparent, as dazzling as agate.

This comb is a naturally divine object that nourishes and strengthens Qi-Blood, aiding ordinary Martial Artists in breaking through, without any side effects.

The comb of a Red-crowned Bird Spirit is surely much more effective than that of an ordinary Red-crowned Bird. It might even be beneficial to breaking through to the Great Circulation.

No wonder Shi Caifeng is tempted; after all, she has been stuck at the Minor Cycle Peak for over a year.

The gap between the Minor Circulation and the Great Circulation is substantial.

If the Minor Circulation is the backbone and core disciple of a sect, then the Great Circulation is often elders, with a vastly different status.

However, the Red-crowned Bird is incredibly swift, ranking among the fastest of avian creatures.

The average Red-crowned Bird is faster than a Martial Artist, making it extremely difficult to capture, and the Red-crowned Bird Spirit is likely even harder.

"Little Feng Feng, let's collaborate between our two teams. Whoever captures it gets the bigger share. Just leave me enough for one person, how about that?" Liu Yue sat beside Shi Caifeng, her chest partly exposed, blowing gently into her ear.

The breath made Shi Caifeng shiver all over, her ears turning red.

"If I help Sister Yue, how will you repay me?" Shi Caifeng eyed Liu Yue lecherously.

"We'll see about that when you capture it." Liu Yue covered her mouth with a light laugh, dodging Shi Caifeng's 'salty pig hand,' and wiggled her hips as she left.

After Liu Yue left.

Shi Caifeng's gaze immediately cleared up, and she asked the others in the tent, "What do you all think?"

"I think we shouldn't help her, that woman is no good!" Wang Yiwen huffed, clearly jealous.

"Helping or not doesn't really matter. Liu Yue approached us because she's afraid of being double-crossed. After all, who doesn't know that you, big sister, are a good person in the camp?" Jiang Chenyu offered his opinion.

At the Beast Hunting Camp, where Martial Artists are full of blood and energy, minor clashes were frequent. But Shi Caifeng never bullied the weak, earning her a good reputation.

No one else spoke, and Shi Caifeng fell into contemplation.

"Sister, if you break through to the Great Circulation, we wouldn't have to seek anyone's favor in the camp!

At home, father would look at you differently too!" At the critical moment, her younger brother Shi Qingde's words decided Shi Caifeng's path.

Shouting, she slapped her thigh: "Let's do it!"

On the other side.

Liu Yue returned to her tent.

Suddenly, a dark silhouette pressed up lightly from behind, making her tremble all over.

"So, did she agree?"

"With me on the job, how could that tomboy not be infatuated?" Liu Yue replied with a seductive smile.

"Tomboy? Heh, I'd like to taste what a tomboy is like," the dark silhouette said, wrapping an arm over her shoulder, reaching straight down into Liu Yue's neckline.

"Hmm."

Liu Yue moaned softly, her face instantly flushed rosy red.

...

At sunrise the next day.

Shi Caifeng led most of her squad out, leaving only the Beast Tamer Ye Lao at home.

The Red-crowned Bird is small enough to be carried back whole, and Ye Lao, being of old age, didn't need to follow.

Crossing two small mountains, they arrived at the foot of Mingxia Mountain, covered in unknown red mountain flowers.

Liu Yue and two other men were already waiting there.

The two men were in their thirties, with ordinary appearances, and from their aura, they were both at the level of the Minor Circulation.

But within the Minor Circulation, there are significant differences.

Someone like Shi Caifeng, at the Four Blood Peak, could challenge those at the Great Circulation, possibly taking on all three of them alone.

Seeing the crowd behind Shi Caifeng, Liu Yue frowned slightly: "There are too many people; it'll just scare the Red-crowned Bird Spirit away."

Shi Caifeng thought about it, agreed that the point was valid, and only took Wang Yiwen and Gu Yu with her.

Gu Yu's footwork was only second to hers, and Wang Yiwen's archery was astonishing. Both could threaten the Red-crowned Bird Spirit.

The deputy leader Jiang Chenyu stayed outside with the others to handle any possible unexpected situations.

Seeing the six of them vanish into the rugged mountain path, Lou Yi sat bored on the ground.

He didn't care whether to participate or not, thinking he might just go scavenging on the corpses later anyway.

In Mingxia Mountain, the vegetation was extremely dense, the view mixing red and green.

"About here." Liu Yue, who had done early research, led Shi Caifeng and the others towards their target.

Eventually, the six of them gradually slowed down their pace, landing silently, fearing to startle the Red-crowned Bird.

Reaching a certain spot, they all stopped in unison.

A few dozen feet ahead, on a grassy meadow.

A giant chicken, entirely black and as tall as a person, was strolling leisurely with a bloated belly.

Every so often, its beak dipped into the grass, pulling out a large, green caterpillar.

This giant chicken had a semi-transparent red comb on its head, starkly visible amidst the greenery.

Its two legs were noticeably more robust than those of typical birds.

Around the knee area, one could see spiraling, bulging muscles, numbering about six or seven rings.

"We've found it!" Shi Caifeng exclaimed joyfully.

"Stick to the plan." Liu Yue was also all smiles.

The strategy set.

In the team of Wang Yiwen and Liu Yue, two men separated and stood apart, taking out longbows from their backs, nocking arrows and pulling the strings.

As for Shi Caifeng and Gu Yu, they quietly circled to the side.

'Whoosh whoosh whoosh!'

Three arrows were shot simultaneously.

The Red-crowned Bird Spirit was startled and flapped its wings hurriedly to dodge to the side.

But its wing still got hit by an arrow, letting out a mournful cry.

"Stay here!"

Gu Yu moved with astounding footwork, arriving in front of the Red Crowned Bird like a phantom.

'Whoosh!'

A spear was fiercely thrust out, about to land on its body.

But the speed for which the Red Crowned Bird is renowned was not solely reliant on its wings.

It bent its two legs, and the spiral muscles at its knees rapidly compressed.

Then like a spring, they suddenly extended, its form 'shoosh' darting far away, leaving only a dark shadow to the naked eye!

It was about to fly out of everyone's sight.

In the dark and bright bird eyes of the Red-crowned Bird Spirit, a trace of pride flashed.

At that moment, two cold gleams flashed by.

"Die!"

Shi Caifeng had long been prepared behind the woods.

She struck from halfway, a pair of Silver Hooks meeting the end of the Red-crowned Bird Spirit's trajectory.

'Puff!'

The Silver Hooks pierced the body of the Red-crowned Bird Spirit, and Shi Caifeng, full of Blood Qi, saw her strength surge, pinning it fiercely to the ground!

Excluding its speed, the combat prowess of the Red-crowned Bird Spirit was not even on par with ordinary fierce beasts of prey.

"Got it!"

Shi Caifeng rejoiced, feeling the Great Circulation beckoning to her.

However, just at this moment, a sudden change occurred!

'Whoosh whoosh whoosh!'

The sound of mechanisms opening was heard.

Iron nets from the sky enveloped her position, wrapping Shi Caifeng entirely within.

"What the hell!" Shi Caifeng roared in anger.

The iron nets were not only extremely tenacious, but also coated with some adhesive, making it difficult for her to break free immediately.

Turning to look, Liu Yue and the others were nowhere to be found.

"Screech!"

A tragic and furious bird cry rang out.

A giant bird, three to four times the size of the Red-crowned Bird Spirit just now, was sprinting rapidly from afar, its eyes filled with fierce killing intent!

Its crown was red to the point of blackness, and the legs under its belly were as robust as those of a beast.

The spiral muscles at its knees were layered up to a dozen levels.

Each leap could span dozens of feet, moving faster than the ordinary Martial Artist by countless times.

Gu Yu, gripping a spear, stood in front of the giant bird, trying to buy time for Shi Caifeng.

But unexpectedly, the giant bird kicked out with a foot, hitting him squarely in the chest.

'Crack!'

Gu Yu's bones snapped countless times at that moment, blood spurted as he was sent flying backward.

The giant bird arrived above Shi Caifeng in the blink of an eye, eyes fierce.

The wings, not large, bore black feathers with a metallic gleam of cold light.

And in an instant, all reversed direction.

As if turned into a sharp knife, it seemed about to chop Shi Caifeng to death under the net.

In that flash of a moment.

A petite figure stood between the bird and the person, ruthlessly slashed by the sharp knife.

"Ah!"

Shi Caifeng felt her whole body's blood boiling.

The ancestral Breathing Technique overdriven, while the Secret Blood circulated rapidly through her body, her skin turned blood-red, nearly becoming a red glowing person.

"Die for me!"

'Boom!'

At the foot of the mountain, Jiang Chenyu and the others suddenly turned their heads toward the sound coming from the mountainside, each showing a look of shock.

"Something's up!"

"Protect the boss lady!"

They desperately rushed toward the direction from which the sound came.
