Ye Fan returned to the core area. After the events concluded last night, he came here to set up the munitions factory.
The munitions factory is a large plant, equipped with numerous military industrial devices inside.
The firearms and vehicles of Red Alert are free from mechanical failures, and if damaged by external forces, engineers can repair them.
Once damaged to a certain extent, they can be recycled, so weapon production isn't necessary at the munitions factory.
Its primary task is ammunition production.
Ye Fan arrived here, accompanied by Zhang Kunlin, who handed Ye Fan a list.
"Sir, this is the production cost of the bullets."
If no major battles occur, the ammunition of the Dawn Army is generally sufficient.
The Three-Star Army Soldier can refresh 500 rounds of ammunition daily, while the Conscript gets 210 rounds.
With nearly two regiments of soldiers now, the ammunition is usually more than enough.
But the situation has changed.
Hundreds of thousands of zombies are surging, demanding massive amounts of ammunition.
The most consumed are undoubtedly the bullets for light machine guns and rifles.
The light machine guns and rifles of Red Alert use the universal 7.62mm bullets, and Ye Fan is most concerned about their cost.
"Universal 7.62mm bullets cost 0.1 gold each!"
Ye Fan calculated that having a reserve of merely 100,000 or 80,000 rounds in such battles is far from enough; at least 500,000 rounds must be prepared initially.
500,000 rounds amount to 50,000 gold.
Ye Fan currently has 120,000 gold in hand, previously having 110,000, and gained another 10,000 gold from mining vehicles in the past two days.
50,000 is quite a bit since he still needs to prepare shells, sniper rifle bullets, and heavy machine gun ammunition.
Moreover, the fuel for the Flamethrower Warriors is another major consumption, and with more zombies, disposing of corpses becomes essential.
"Sir, 0.1 gold is the cost without providing copper. Bullet manufacturing mainly uses copper, and if we provide the copper, the cost can be reduced by half, making it only 0.05 gold per bullet."
"Oh! That sounds good."
The most significant consumption in bullet manufacturing is shell production, usually made of copper.
Of course, there are also overlaid copper steel and painted steel options, but those materials can't compare to copper.
Ye Fan checked the quantity of copper collected during this period and found that it can produce around 700,000 shells.
"Allocate these resources as you see fit, first preparing 700,000 rounds, and then some shells and specialized oils, and remember not to spend all the money at once, keep some for emergencies."
"And one more thing, prioritize landmine production for mine-laying vehicles."
Landmines are relatively expensive, with each costing five gold.
Refilling a mine-laying vehicle requires 4,500 gold!
No matter how expensive, they must be produced, as they are the Dawn Army's first line of defense.
"Rest assured, sir, I understand what to do."
The munitions factory has 30 workers who immediately began intense production.
Boxes of dark landmines and golden bullets were produced and urgently sent to the front line.
Besides production at the munitions factory, Ye Fan also acquired a considerable amount of firearms and ammunition from the Survivor Alliance.
The firearms here range from new to old, with few domestic ones, but mostly AK-type Rakshasa Army firearms.
Regarding this situation, Ye Fan got some insights from Zhang Xiaofei just last night.
Northward from Huacheng lies the Shenlong River, the border river between Qin Han and the Rakshasa.
Beyond the Shenlong River is a major military town of the Rakshasa people.
Hai Shan Wei.
When the apocalypse arrived, meteors hit the ground.
Not only did they strike Qin Han's camps, but also caused severe losses abroad to governments and camps alike.
Take the Rakshasa's Hai Shan Wei, for instance; describing it as decimated is an understatement—it's possible that not even one out of a thousand remained.
Losses included not only people but countless weapons as well.
However, a group of people survived in Hai Shan Wei.
They were technicians from the munitions factory. They had organized an outing that day, and when the apocalypse struck, while the factories got hammered by the meteors, they escaped unscathed, leaving only dozens out of hundreds.
Yet, even these few people established a significant foundation on the Rakshasa side.
Because they could repair weapons.
They quickly gathered a group of survivors, reclaimed the munitions factory, and began new weapon production.
Despite heavy weaponry damage, they managed to cobble enough usable parts, and with this capability, they set up a base in Hai Shan Wei and even connected with the Wangbei Army on Qin Han's side.
The Zhang Brothers of the Wangbei Army were renowned tycoons in Huacheng, owning a company with over ten thousand employees.
After the incident, Zhang Zhiguo led the surviving seven to eight hundred employees to seek help from the guard troops, only to find it in ruins.
The guard troops were about to train when disaster struck, leaving many weapons unattended, benefitting them instead.
Later, Zhang Zhiguo took the team to the outskirts' steel group headquarters and then contacted his brother Zhang Zhijian.
The connection with the Rakshasa was Zhang Zhijian's idea. After escaping, Zhang Zhiguo was injured and has been recuperating. Though he remains the leader, Zhang Zhijian currently runs the Wangbei Army.
According to Zhang Xiaofei, both sides even conduct shipping on the Shenlong River—the Wangbei Army sends large quantities of steel and scarce metals to the Rakshasa to aid in restoring their production line.
In exchange, the Rakshasa provides them with continuous weaponry, creating a mutually beneficial relationship.
Zhang Xiaofei further mentioned that the Rakshasa are reportedly developing even better than the Wangbei Army, having set up a barracks for military training of new survivors.
Currently, they are believed to be restoring heavy industry for tank production, though it's unclear if they've succeeded yet.
"Barracks... Tank Factory!"
"And it's foreign."
Ye Fan's heart was stirred upon hearing these updates.
It seems it's not just him developing; others are progressinг as well.
The Rakshasa have fairly good luck, holding quite a few technicians, and once they get rolling, they shouldn't be underestimated.
The Wangbei Army provided the other side with a large supply of metal to resume production, which made Ye Fan feel a bit unhappy.
This is simply playing with fire. The other side gives you some obsolete weapons, and you risk your lives collecting resources to send over. They can develop without threat, and once they grow stronger, the Wangbei Army might no longer be of any value.
However, Ye Fan didn't have the time to deal with this now. When this crisis is over, he will not sit idly by.
Furthermore, the foreign barracks and tank factories seem somewhat intriguing.....

The production at the munitions factory continued, and the Dawn Army was already overwhelmed with work.
To not delay efficiency, Ye Fan even produced another minelayer vehicle.
Two vehicles operating simultaneously, aiming to lay at least 9,000 mines before the zombies arrive!
Dawn City faces north to south, with walls on all four sides, but the defensive focus is only on two sides.
The northern side near the rear mountains is narrow and hard to expand. Even if zombies attack, only a small number can fit, so it's not a defensive priority.
The western side is also near the mountains, with similar terrain to the north.
The main focus is the southern side at the front and the eastern side near the Star River.
The southern side is the Outer City District, the broadest terrain, surely the zombies' main attack point.
The eastern side is also not small. It was originally farmland, but when Ye Fan was developing the city, he didn't have time to clear those fields, so he left them. Now, with most of the surrounding grain collected, this area has become a critical defense point.
The money in hand is dwindling as bullets are being produced.
The minelayers are still busily at work.
One mine after another is launched from the minelayer using a rocket, evenly spread across the ground.
The South Gate District is a priority, with the two vehicles advancing from both left and right sides.
As they neared the central road section, a flash of inspiration struck Ye Fan, and he suddenly ordered the minelayers to stop.
"Don't lay mines on the central road section."
Zhongjing, the Chief of Staff, was taken aback: "Sir, doesn't that mean leaving a path for the zombies to attack?"
Ye Fan waved his hand: "Let's leave them a path. That makes it more interesting."
Zhongjing quickly caught on.
"Sir, do you mean the zombies have intelligence?"
"Of course, I don't believe this is a simple zombie wave. For them to come all the way from Coal City with such a clear purpose, it's not something ordinary zombies could do."
Zhongjing nodded slightly: "Sir, if the zombies have intelligence, then our pressure will greatly increase."
"No matter. Although the zombies are fierce, our Dawn Army isn't weak either. We'll wipe out however many come."
Ye Fan turned around and issued another order to Nana.
A blue-and-white oil tanker drove out from the core base.
It rushed out the front gate and, following the central road Ye Fan left open, moved further away until it disappeared from sight.
After thinking for a moment, Ye Fan issued another order to the logistics support team.
"Cut off Xiaoba's rations."

On the city walls, the deployment of soldiers reached its final stages.
The First Battalion was fully staffed, responsible for the defense of the eastern, northern, and western walls.
The Second Battalion, almost fully staffed, was responsible for the defense of the South Gate.
Heavy machine guns were being moved to the top of the walls.
Boxes of newly produced ammunition were also piled up.
Black barrels of guns poked out from the crenels in the walls.
An observation point every three steps, a sentry post every five steps.
The actions of the Dawn Army were busy but well-organized, and none of the soldiers was shouting or causing a fuss.
The oppression before this grand battle felt suffocating.
Survivors hid in their homes; they were barely needed now, as long as they didn't come out and cause trouble.
The dormitory area of the Lingshui School students.
The girls' dormitory.
A gust of wind blew, and yellow leaves fell in front of the newly built glass windows.
The girls all leaned against the window, hands on chins, looking at Ye Fan, who stood out among the crowd with a white cape, standing atop the wall.
"Ye Luo's older brother looks so handsome from the back."
"I heard he's our senior too, only a few years older than us."
"But he seems so much more mature, feels like an adult."
"I heard he was quite famous during his school days, apparently had a nickname like 'Killer,' but ever since he saved us, Ye Luo forbade anyone from calling her brother 'Killer,' seems like he doesn't like that name."
"But it's such a pity, I heard from a Dawn Army lieutenant that Ye Fan is full of passion and won't consider getting a girlfriend until the zombies are completely wiped out."
"Sigh~~~!"
Several girls sighed softly, clearly having given up hope on Ye Fan.
Suddenly~!
The soldiers on the wall suddenly straightened up, guns pointed outward!
"All units on alert~~~~!"
The Chief of Staff beside Ye Fan shouted, making everyone tense up.
The ground seemed to tremble slightly.
A northwesterly wind carried a pungent, bloody stench.
The base was in a state of panic.
An army of 300,000 zombies, after a long journey of seven days, finally appeared under the Dawn City!
