Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 114: Welcome to Yifu City (Part 2)

The advantage is the ability to seek outside help and access real-time information.

During the waiting period, everyone continued their activities.

Sword Star activated a Crane Seeking Talisman, the paper talisman burned and transformed into a small red crane.

The small crane circled above the two people's heads and then let out a cry as it flew away into the distance.

The two followed closely behind.

Half a month ago, Wanghai City had just undergone a temporary evacuation, and although the forecasted danger did not occur, people's nerves remained tense.

Now, with the weather changing suddenly, the sky looked like it was about to collapse, and even without an official announcement, one could see that something significant was about to happen.

Even if there were no natural disasters, at the very least there would be a heavy downpour.

Most of the citizens of Wanghai City caught in the erosion zone stayed indoors, afraid to go out.

But some worried that it was the delayed arrival of the earthquake forecasted last time, and staying indoors might be more dangerous.

Yet when the citizens stepped outside, they were stunned—was this still the Wanghai City they had lived in all their lives?

How is it different from what they remembered?

A pair of elderly couples with their child stood outside the community, looking perplexed at the crossroads that suddenly appeared at the entrance.

"Wife, was there a crossroads at our door before?"

The elderly woman shook her head, saying, "I don't think there was. Did it just get built last night?"

A neighbor at the entrance chimed in: "Not just I don't think, I'm certain there wasn't. I drive by here every day; our entrance is a straight road. Where did the crossroads come from? Building one would mean tearing down part of the community."

The neighbor's comment holds some truth, and as everyone looked toward the crossroads.

Indeed, the main road intersecting at the crossroads seemed to cut straight into the community.

Buildings Seven and Eight, originally connected, had somehow split apart into a V-shape, making way for a path.

This left the residents dumbfounded; building a road overnight is plausible, but splitting the buildings overnight seems far-fetched.

As everyone pondered this, cheerful music started playing from a distance.

A colorful bus drove out from the space between Buildings Seven and Eight, stopping in front of the crowd.

Four young women dressed in suits, wearing smiling masks on their faces, hopped off the bus and began dancing to the music right in front of everyone.

The girls were slender, with curvy figures, making their dance quite pleasing to the eye.

These days, anyone dressed in a suit outside is either a salesperson or an agent, and these girls were dancing so energetically, surely they were selling real estate.

After all, with the recent drop in housing prices, they're the ones caught in the midst of it.

Several middle-aged men returning home for lunch sighed; it's a pity, if they were selling something else, they might support them, but real estate is out of the question—they haven't even paid off the mortgage on their own apartment.

After finishing the dance, the lead suit-wearing woman approached the elderly couple with the child.

The old man quickly waved his hands, "Young lady, I'm not buying real estate, insurance or attending seminars. Before leaving, my child told me not to go, even for a free egg."

The suit-wearing woman's smiling mask changed, the smile growing wider. She bowed slightly and said:

"You've misunderstood. We're not salespeople; we're from the Yifu City's Miracle Committee, here to bring warmth to the community."

What is Yifu City, and what warmth are they bringing to Wanghai City?

A look of confusion appeared on everyone's faces.

The suit-wearing woman smiled and said, "Firstly, welcome to Yifu City. Since you're here in Yifu City, you're family."

The old man was dumbfounded, feeling that after waking up from his afternoon nap, the world had changed.

The sky turned dark, roads appeared at his doorstep, and even Wanghai City got renamed.

He looked at everyone else, wondering if he was experiencing the phenomenon Professor Shi mentioned, that M-something effect, where too many people muddle one's mind.

The suit-wearing woman continued:

"As family, we hope you'll integrate with us. Yifu City wants every citizen to be positive, lively, with a healthy day starting from exercise. We'll lead you in a dance."

The old man understood this and quickly shook his head.

"I can't manage what you danced earlier; my old bones would crumble from a little jumping. It's raining as well; my rheumatic knees hurt. Find someone else."

The suit-wearing woman didn't move, staring straight at the old man with the masked face.

"It's people like you who need good health. Old man, think to yourself: I want to be healthy, I want to dance."

The old man waved his hand, "I really can't, find someone else."

The suit-wearing woman's white smiling mask suddenly turned gray, with the corners of the mouth drooping.

She coldly stated: "Think with me: I want to be healthy, I want to dance."

Intimidated by the suit-wearing woman's aura, the old man quietly said, "Alright, alright, I thought, I want to be healthy, I want to dance."

Once these words were uttered, a layer of white light appeared on the old man's body surface, making him seem ten years younger, with his rheumatic knees suddenly ceasing to hurt.

As the music started again, the old man didn't need to keep up with practice; he started dancing immediately.

Jumping, leaping, balancing, doing the splits, bending backward—all seamlessly performed, leaving his spouse and grandchild astounded.

The old man couldn't remember when his body last felt this light.

Feeling young again was great.

It would be better if he could stop.

"Young lady, why can't I stop?"

After the old man began dancing, the suit-wearing women each looked for their own targets, starting their persuasion.

Initially, the neighbors found it amazing, wanting to join in, but seeing the old man shouting to stop, they realized something was amiss.

A young man approached by a suit-wearing woman remembered a short video he recently watched, mentioning how some criminals with special abilities were committing crimes worldwide.

Could these people before him be criminals?

He kept his head down, bypassing the suit-wearing woman in front of him, heading home without turning around.

"I have to work this afternoon, so I can't join."

The suit-wearing woman's mask turned gray as she called after him:

"Sir, wait, you must integrate with Yifu City."

The young man pretended not to hear, breaking into a jog.

The suit-wearing woman's mask turned black, her expression menacing: "Sir!"

Crack.

The running man's foot that was just landing made a cracking sound, his ankle twisted ninety degrees sideways, with the bone sticking out.

As the man was about to let out a painful scream, another cracking sound echoed beside his ear.

He saw the masked woman appear in front of him.

To be exact, it was his neck that had been rotated 180 degrees.

Despite his broken ankle and twisted neck, the man didn't collapse; he hopped back to the community gate, dancing like the old man.

Looking at the two dancing people, the suit-wearing woman's black menacing mask reverted to a white smiling mask, with a slightly tilted head, she said in a cute tone:

"Sir, I told you, you must integrate with Yifu City. Loner men aren't welcome here."

Silent, absolute silence.

The next moment, hysterical screams erupted.

People ran toward their homes crazily, fearing a late encounter with these strange folk, sharing the young man's fate.

The elderly woman also wanted to run, but she couldn't, nor could she leave her spouse. She just tightly held her grandson, covering his eyes to shield him from seeing the young man with wide eyes and a tragic expression, dancing with his grandfather.

The suit-wearing women watched the scattered fleeing crowd, dazed like robots for a moment, then regained their senses, saying in a troubled tone:

"These new citizens really make things difficult."

Their masks turned black simultaneously, about to unleash their powers, making everyone like the young man.

Before they could raise their hands, a crane cry echoed from the distance.

The next moment, a flying sword accompanied by the sound of wind piercing nailed itself into the lead suit-wearing woman's face, the blade tip protruding from the back of her head.

The mask on the suit-wearing woman shattered, revealing a vacant stare, her expression dazed, lifeless.

Calling her human would be closer to a puppet.

With their leader dead, the remaining three didn't bother pursuing the civilians, all looking toward the direction the flying sword came from.

The flying sword withdrew from the suit-wearing woman's face, and after a moment, Sword Star came flying.

"Scallion, hide well, leave them to me."

Wu Chang, who enabled social phobia mode, quietly approached the scratched face suit-wearing woman's side.

Maybe because she wasn't a living being, despite being struck fatally, she still had some life, struggling to use her ability.

Why bother?

He used the Snake Venom of the sea serpent, delivering a finishing blow.

The next moment, he stared at the prompt before him, stunned.

Can you actually gain experience by killing monsters in the erosion dungeon?
