Hidden Moth

Chapter 73: Thunderous Peacemaking

There have been more than one incident in Qi Yuan recently, each of which is quite serious.

First, there was the rumor of the presence of Hidden Moth, attracting many people who undoubtedly came for the Hidden Moth, eager to obtain the legendary Hidden Moth Object.

No one can broadcast such matters, for two reasons. First, the current Hidden Moth holds no grudges against these people, and nobody has even confirmed his identity. Attempting to seize his treasure is definitely not a noble endeavor.

Second, if someone can seize the Hidden Moth Object, using the same logic, can't others try to seize his possessions too? Therefore, even if one obtains the Hidden Moth Object, they must not reveal their identity.

The ideal situation is to come quietly, leave quietly after obtaining the object, without anyone knowing.

Earth Master Gu Chun learned of this and, on behalf of the Ancestral Hall, ordered that no sorcerers from Tier Four and above should set foot in Qi Yuan. This serves as a warning, but many misunderstood or deliberately ignored its true meaning.

Though sorcerers from the Fourth Realm and above didn't arrive, quite a few sorcerers from the First to Third Realm came, mostly discreetly and secretly.

Only four and a half sorcerers made their presence publicly known in Qi Yuan. The first is Qian Guran, who found a job in Qi Yuan, a normal circumstance that wouldn't raise questions from the Ancestral Hall.

Moreover, Qian Guran came to Qi Yuan before the Earth Master's order, and he had personal reasons.

The second is Ye Yuxuan, who is Wu Yanjun's junior sister and the daughter of her uncle Ye Hui.

She didn't make a big entrance but thought she acted cautiously. However, before going and after returning, she told several people, leading nearly everyone to know... thus becoming public.

The third is Zhao Hai Zhen, sent by his master, Alchemy Sect Steward Wan Zhongle, to investigate the disappearance of his fellow disciple Liang Kai, under a legitimate pretext.

The fourth is Lin Qingshuang, not for Hidden Moth, but for the death of her disciple Lin Hua Lei.

As for the half, it's Wu Yanjun. Xiaowu isn't formally a Magic Sect disciple and came to apologize to He Kao and return some items.

Additionally, there are Magic Sect disciples in Qi Yuan who already lived or worked here, like Peng Xian, Gu Yunteng, and Yao Shaolan.

There's also a Magic Gate Elder, Quasi Grand Calculator Jiang Daozhen, an old resident in the northern suburbs of Qi Yuan, occasionally setting up a chess stand. However, apart from some Ancestral Hall elders, ordinary disciples are unaware of this situation.

Observing Body Sect disciple Lin Hua Lei was murdered, with Liang Kai being the prime suspect. Unfortunately, Liang Kai also went missing, with no trace of him, dead or alive. His "missing person" status is officially confirmed by the police.

He Kao could guess that Liang Kai might not be found. He's probably like those kidnappers, buried deep in the collapsed Bai Ma Mountain's civil defense project.

That night, He totally forgot to ask Xiaopang about Liang Kai's situation due to tight timing.

Most Magic Sect disciples came on their own, keeping their whereabouts hidden, yet coincidentally focused their investigation on He Kao.

Just one target in such a small place like Sesame Apartment, with all sorcerers being perceptively sharp, inevitably discover each other's presence... Zhao Hai Zhen did just that, gathering a group of allies.

Zhao Hai Zhen is quite capable, bold yet meticulous, daring to think and act. Otherwise, Wan Zhongle wouldn't have sent him to Qi Yuan for investigation. In the name of investigating his junior's cause of death, he gathered everyone he could find.

This put everyone in a tricky situation. Everyone was there for the Hidden Moth Object, not wanting to expose themselves. But coming together made it hard for anyone to act alone.

Taking advantage, Zhao Hai Zhen proposed a joint effort to obtain the object first, agreeing to share future interests and resources gained from the Hidden Moth Object.

Regarding this, He Kao was unsure of the specifics and could only guess, while others knew even less.

From various Magic Sects' perspectives, the recent disappearances were not limited to Liang Kai alone.

On the evening of October 5th, Lin Qingshuang reported to the Ancestral Hall that Qi Observation Sect disciple Qian Guran was missing, suspected murdered after obtaining incriminating material concerning Gu Yunteng, immediately losing contact.

Since the Ancestral Hall was involved, they wouldn't only check on Qian Guran's situation, but soon discovered Peng Xian and Zhao Hai Zhen were also missing, as both previously were in Qi Yuan.

Peng Xian's situation was hard to determine as he's a private business owner, possibly out on holiday or in seclusion for cultivation, avoiding contact to prevent disturbance.

But Zhao Hai Zhen's circumstance seemed wrong, sent on a mission needing constant updates, with timely messages from his sect to be expected. He should have maintained open communications.

Thus, Zhao Hai Zhen's being out of contact certainly indicated trouble!

The Ancestral Hall was shaken. Though numerous Magic Sect disciples were around, recurring disappearances were intolerable, and even more frightening was the possibility of not knowing despite losing people!

Hence, Elder Ye Phoenix, representing the Ancestral Hall, ordered all Magic Sects to summarize and report disciple situations according to inheritance records, focusing on two key pieces of information—current location and activities.

The Ancestral Hall required all registered sect disciples to be contactable, or at least have confirmable whereabouts and traceable movements, even if contact was impossible.
