"Third year C class from Veridian academy. All clear. You can pass." The guard at the city entrance passed the stamped permission letter back to Blaze, letting the four of them to pass through.
Blaze nodded and moved past the city threshold, followed by Lenore, Aeron and Zenon behind him.
Blaze then pulled out a map from his inside pocket, unfolded it and started following it as they moved deeper inside the forest.
"How the hell did Grey manage to get professor Thorgar to give us permission?" Aeron asked in surprise.
All the four of them were shocked when Thorgar himself passed the permission letter in their hands. Even encouraging them for their mindset to grow strong, and daring to clear a dungeon just in their first year.
The even further shocking thing for them was that Thorgar, who was just like Zarnak, strict and unmoving, agreed to break rules and falsify their permission letter, making them third year students, since, first years were not allowed to move out of the city.
"But I believe since he's been garnering fame and honor for our C class continuously on many occasions, he has become professor's favorite disciple, agreeing to all his wishes." Blaze said knowingly.
"He's worth it. Professor would have just said yes when he asked with that handsome face of his. Ah!! I'm starting to miss him already." Lenore's eyes were radiating hearts, the lovestruck smile refusing to leave her face, oblivious of the weird looks the other three were giving her.
One day earlier, in Thorgar's office room. Grey stood with his eyes plastered to the floor and beads of sweat rolling down his forehead in nervousness.
Thorgar's eyes staring at Grey sternly. Half of the pen still clutched between his fingers while the other half rolling on the floor.
"Are you asking me to break the academy rules and forge a document, stamp my seal in it and offer it to you with a smile? How did you even dared to think of something like that?"
The intense pressure from Thorgar with the cold words sent a shiver down Grey's spine. He knew it wouldn't be easy to coax Thorgar, but he didn't know that this would anger him to this magnitude.
"I-I wouldn't have asked this of you if it wasn't important sir. If you wish for the C class to become the overall champion, then this is a must sir."
"BULLSHIT!!" Thorgar stomped his fist on the table. "If you feel this training is not enough, then train twice, if not twice, then thrice. But fighting eclipse beasts? Clearing dungeons? Do you think it's easy for them when they haven't even seen a beast up close? Do you not know of the dangers?"
Grey shook from Thorgar's intense reaction. But he still didn't stop with his convincing.
"I fucking wouldn't have done this if my rewards were not locked. This fucking system will only release it when Blaze awakens." Grey gritted his teeth in frustration.
"To awaken the potential, it is necessary to engage in a life and death situation sir. This was the case with me too sir. I wouldn't have grown this strong if I hadn't fought the eclipse beasts earlier."
"What do you mean you fought with eclipse beasts earlier? D-Do you mean to say…you ventured outside in the forest without permission?" Thorgar's eyes opened wide in shock. Grey's words were unbelievable for him right now.
"Shit!"
"I-I was fed up with my weakness. I wanted to grow strong no matter what. I wanted to put myself in a situation so that I can awaken my hidden potential. I'm sorry sir. But, rather then being scoffed at and remain weak, I chose to grow strong with my own methods."
"A-And look at me now…it worked! I'm standing in front of you as proof sir."
Thorgar kept listening in silence. The fury in his eyes had subsided to some degree. Grey saw his chance; this was the perfect time to strike the hammer.
"Tell me sir. Are you satisfied at being looked down for representing the C class? Don't you want the other professors and the students to look up at you with shining eyes?"
"Don't you want them to say, 'look! That's professor Thorgar. He single-handedly broke the system, making the C class the champions.'" Grey waved his hands around, performing his act of coaxing to new levels.
"Imagine sir! Next year when new students are going to join. They'd scream to join the C class. They'd want to be taught under you. Imagine the smiling face of headmaster, how he'd pat you for achieving this wonderful feat. Imagine sir." Grey softly whispered, like a devil trying to make him a deal for his soul.
Thorgar eyes wandered above, shining bright. A wide grin spread on his face as he imagined the scenes happening.
"B-but it's wrong Grey. I can't break rules." Thorgar pulled himself back to reality, the hesitation still lingering.
"You'll only break the rules when others come to know of it. If no one knows, how would you break the rules sir?" Grey gave an evil grin as he said.
The Devil prevailed as the evil grin spread on Thorgar's face. Grey was successful.
"I'd have to go with them too then. I can't let any harm come to my students. But then, what explanation would I give for my absence?" Thorgar said with worry.
"There's no need for you to go sir. I have cleared that dungeon already. I can deal with a shadowheart class, and the dungeon only has warped classes. I'll keep an eye on them and jump in anytime if the situation does gets worse somehow." Grey said confidently.
"Hahaha! Alright then. But remember one thing. No one knows of this!" Thorgar said in a grave tone.
"Absolutely! Have faith in me sir." Grey's lips lifted up into a wide smirk.
"Mission accomplished!"
Back to the present, the four of them had reached in front of the sunfall dungeon. The same arched entrance of the cave, hidden within the foliage welcomed them.
They stood unmoving. The darkness of the gaping maw of the cave and frightening silence was sending shivers down their spine.
Clutching the map in his hands, with a tense furrow in his brows, Blaze gathered his courage, stepping forward.
"Let's move!"
