Killing a mountain gnoll that was fully fixated on the battle taking place between the humans and powerful mountain gnolls, Scaly got closer to the part of the forest that the injured mutated dragon devouring slime was moving towards. Managing to remain undetected because the rest of the mountain gnolls were similarly fixated on the battle and didn't pay much attention to their surroundings at the moment.
In a sense, the only thing she had to worry about when it came to being discovered at the moment was if she failed in killing a mountain gnoll blocking her path and gave it time to start fighting back.
Luckily, she didn't end up running into any such problems and for once managed to reach the location she wanted to without any problems along the way. Hiding herself at the edge of the forest that the mutated dragon devouring slime was moving towards before starting to think about how to go about killing it.
After all, even if it was currently in a weakened state and was far smaller compared to before, she understood full well just how difficult it was to kill a slime, as only by destroying the small core inside their bodies would they die.
The slimy substance that surrounded the core itself was essentially just a protective layer that could be easily recovered over time as long as the core itself remained intact.
Of course, outside of the difficulty of killing a slime, Scaly still remembered how she had failed to kill this one slime in the past when it had been even smaller. Only having barely managed to get rid of it before escaping from the scene.
Even if she had become stronger than she had back then and had several different ways that could potentially deal with the mutated dragon devouring slime, Scaly didn't dare to underestimate it.
For this reason alone, she almost immediately decided against using her water magic to create a large number of water blades to target the core of the slime. Feeling that the slime would still be capable of moving its core out of the way before any of her water blades could reach it.
Considering that the speed of her water blades would be slowed down after they entered the slime itself, it wasn't that out of the question. Not to mention, she had personally witnessed how the slime had been able to avoid the sword strike of the crimson flame knight… And the speed of his sword swings was far faster than that of her water blades.
With all of that in mind, there was only one thing Scaly could think of when it came to defeating and killing the mutated dragon devouring slime once and for all, lightning magic.
Although she had only used her lightning magic once so far, it was by far her fastest and deadliest attack.
Even if the range of the lightning magic was unknown and she should be capable of hitting the mutated dragon devouring slime from where she was hiding, she also understood that the accuracy of her lightning magic would decrease the further away a target was. Only by increasing the level of her lightning magic in the future would her accuracy increase enough to use the lightning magic over longer distances.
For now, her range was mostly limited to a few dozen meters. Meaning she would have to wait until the mutated dragon devouring slime got within a few meters of where she was hiding.
However, the problem with that was the fact that the slime specialized in hunting down dragon related monsters would undoubtedly detect her at such a short distance. At which point it would also notice her using magic and move out of the way before she could use her lightning magic.
If she wanted a chance to hit the mutated dragon devouring slime, she would have to find a way to make it stand in the same location for a few seconds while she used her lightning magic, something she had no idea how to do nor did she have the time to figure it out, as the mutated dragon devouring slime was rapidly approaching her location.
Guess I will just have to try and hit it, if I miss, I should at least be able to escape before any of the mountain gnolls rushes over…
Narrowing both of her eyes as she thought this to herself while watching the mutated dragon devouring slime bouncing towards her, Scaly didn't waste any time as she began gathering her mana together in preparation for using the lighting magic.
Boing~?
As a result, the mutated dragon devouring slime noticed her almost immediately. Stopping its approach in a somewhat confused manner.
BOING-!
However, instead of dodging out of the way like Scaly had expected it to do when it sensed her and the fact that she was in the process of using magic, the mutated dragon devouring slime just began increasing its speed, as it bounced towards her filled with happiness. Happy that the dragon it had come searching for had reappeared just when it needed something to eat so it could recover its strength.
Huh? Didn't it sense me starting to use my lightning magic…?
Filled with confusion as she watched how the mutated dragon devouring slime began to happily bounce towards her, Scaly tilted her head slightly to the side as a ball of lightning slowly began forming in front of her.
If the mutated dragon devouring slime was going to ignore her, she wouldn't just stand around and give up such a perfect opportunity-
Rumble-!
And so, the moment she had finished preparing, Scaly launched the lightning magic towards directly in front of her towards the mutated dragon devouring slime that hadn't changed its path in the slightest. Soon enough resulting in the lightning bolt slamming directly into the still oblivious mutated dragon devouring slime, who had no time to react before being hit, as the lightning bolt almost instantaneously hit its core.
Boing-?
BOOOOM-!
Not even a second later, causing the slime to blow up and causing the slimy substance that made up its body to shoot out in all directions.

However, it was only when she saw the large amount of experience from killing the mutated dragon devouring slime that she felt certain that it was dead.
After all, a slime was incredibly difficult to kill… And even with it blowing up, she wasn't entirely sure whether it was dead or not before she got the experience from killing it.
GROWL!?
"Wha-What was that!?"
However, she soon found herself with a brand-new problem on her hands, as she felt the attention of both the humans and the mountain gnolls suddenly focusing onto her, as their battle seemed to come to momentary pause following her attack just now catching them off guard.
Not just that, but she also clearly felt the mountain gnolls hidden around the edges of the forest turn their attention towards her.
Suddenly, she had become the focus of everyone present after her display of strength when killing the mutated dragon devouring slime just now… And she didn't like it considering that both the humans and mountain gnolls were staring towards her with some mix of fear and killing intent.
The humans mostly being fearful of the power she displayed, while the mountain gnolls almost entirely stared towards her filled with killing intent.
This… Is probably my cue to leave…
Swish-!
Not even thinking twice as she felt everyone focused on her, Scaly turned around and escaped into the forest before any of the humans or mountain gnolls had a chance to make a move against her. Disappearing out of sight by the time that they all returned to normal from their shocked state following the power Scaly had just displayed.
However, instead of returning to fighting again, the mountain gnolls and humans both decided to stop and didn't continue their fight.
The mountain gnolls, having already experienced what Scaly was like during the earlier heavenly lake serpent attack, didn't want to get ambushed by her after witnessing the power she had displayed when killing the mutated dragon devouring slime. Especially considering that they had all witnessed how strong the mutated dragon devouring slime was.
As for the humans…
They worried about the same thing, but more so just wanted to get out of the battle they were currently locked in as the mountain gnolls were not their target for coming down to the fourth floor of the dungeon, but instead the now dead mutated dragon devouring slime.
Outside of that, there was also the fact that they weren't really winning against the mountain gnolls a few seconds earlier and might even lose if things continued to drag on due to the powerful mountain gnoll champion.
So, with that in mind, both the humans and the mountain gnolls soon decided to part ways, as they both kept an eye out for any ambush Scaly might end up launching towards them.
