Spending close to an hour solely focused on hunting down any monster she found before rapidly devouring them, Scaly came to a stop at the base of a different mountain right beside the one with the mountain slimes on top of it. Having long since hunted down any monster that could be eaten on the mountain slime mountain and moved on to a different mountain still brimming with monsters for her to eat.
Of course, in the process of doing so, she had also ended up scaring the local monsters into running away with her rampant behavior. The only fortunate thing was that she managed to eat her fill before the surrounding monster had begun to hide away from her.
However, more importantly than that…
[Dragon Bloodline, lvl 4]
Her dragon bloodline had finally managed to reach level 4 after her latest rampage!
Hehe! I'm sure I will be able to become a dragon after this evolution!
Filled with excitement at the level 4 dragon bloodline, Scaly couldn't contain her excitement as she happily jumped around the place the moment, she checked her status and saw that her dragon bloodline had broken through the level 4 barrier.
Even to the point that she forgot to check the description of the dragon bloodline now that it had reached level 4-
Ah! The description!
Only remembering to do so after a few minutes later after she had calmed down a bit…
[Dragon Bloodline lvl 4]: Dragon blood flows through your body, transforming it from the inside, 1% of your blood has changed to dragon blood, +5 VIT per level, + 5 M per level.
The level of your bloodline has been elevated from the lowest tier pseudo dragon bloodline to an inferior dragon bloodline. Having a true dragon bloodline flowing through your body, you are qualified to be considered dragon. Although, a wingless and rather weak one for now.
Reading through the description of the dragon bloodline that had changed once again, Scaly didn't know whether to feel happy or depressed.
After all, she was now considered a dragon, something to be happy about, but… At the same time, the description also called her weak, wingless and inferior in the same sentence…
No matter… She had accomplished her goal of her dragon bloodline reaching level 4 and could now go through her next evolution. Hopefully allowing her to get an evolution that would help remove the inferior and wingless part of the description.
As for the weak part… She couldn't really say much about it, as the dragons in her head were all powerful beings with power far beyond what she had, something she still felt that she was far from archiving…
For now, I should first find somewhere safe to go through my evolution- Ah! I also need to prepare a lot of mountain rabbits for after the evolution, as I will definitely be hungry after finishing my evolution. Not just that, but in case I grow in size during my next evolution, I also need to ensure that the place I decided to undergo my evolution inside of isn't too small.
Fully set on her third evolution, Scaly instantly went to work, as she started to hunt down monsters to prepare food for after her evolution, while at the same time looking for any larger caves out of the way that she could hide away from other monsters and use during her evolution.
By far, the most important thing when it came to going through an evolution as far as she was aware was avoiding detection by other monsters.
After all, when going through an evolution, she would be unable to defend herself in case any of the mountain rabbits that had managed to escape from her decided to come and seek revenge while she couldn't fight back.
Different from a normal sleep where she would at least wake up and defend herself.
Squeeaaak!?
Ptsh!
SQqqquuueaaak…!
Ptsh-!
Because of this, a purge soon ended up taking place on the mountain that Scaly decided to undergo her third evolution at, as she wanted to kill any monster that might end up attacking her while she was going through her evolution.
And in case she didn't kill all of the monsters, the remaining ones would either be too scared to go out of hiding or would flee to another mountain inside the mountain range as she had seen them do on the previous two mountains she had hunted at.
Only after gathering enough food and ensuring that there were no more monsters around to pose a threat to her during her evolution, did Scaly retreat into the cave she had chosen to undergo her evolution inside of.
Of course, in preparation for the evolution, a large mountain of bodies was piled up not too far away from the entrance of the cave. More than enough food for her to eat when she finished her evolution.
Everything is ready!
And so, with everything done, Scaly spent over two hours painstakingly closing up the entrance to the cave before retreating all the way to the back of the cave where she intended to go through her third evolution.
…
"… And so, the guild leader requested permission from the higher ups to punish the branch guild leader."
"A branch guild leader is causing trouble in the Howling Caverns? Not just that, but that old man was stopped from investigating the little guy by one of those guardian barriers? Haha, serves him right!
At the same time Scaly finished her final preparation for going through her third evolution, somewhere on the fourth floor of the dungeon inside what could only be described as a small fortress, a man who looked to be in his early thirties laughed out loud as he listened to the adventurer standing in front of him describe what had happened to the guild leader of the branch in charge of the management of the Howling Caverns dungeon.
"But… The permission he is asking for… He should know that he won't be able to do much about that little town manager without any evidence of wrongdoing outside of removing him from his position and getting those knights to lock him up for a few weeks. After all, that guy should still be a top tier B Rank Adventurer."
Stopping his laughter abruptly as he said this, the man slowly turned his attention towards the adventurer that had come and informed him about the situation on the third floor of the dungeon. "For him to also secretly sent you here… Is that old man asking for my help? Is he really that unconfident in his own ability to find any evidence of wrongdoings on the part of that little town manager?"
"This… Of course not, it's just, the guild leader thinks that the branch guild leader might be hiding something beyond simple dungeon monster trading or embezzlement of guild funds. For this reason, he hopes that the Knight of the Crimson Flame will lend a hand.
In return, he is willing to sweep the recent chaos caused by the death of the monsters on the fourth floor under the rug and pretend it never happened."
Nervously looking up at the man who looked like he was only in his early thirties, the older adventurer could not help feeling a shiver run down his spine as he met a pair of crimson eyes that seemed to stare directly into his soul.
Knight of the Crimson Flame, a terrifying existence famous across the entire Great Sky Kingdom and one of the few A Rank Adventures who operated around the Howling Caverns and regularly helped in clearing out the more dangerous monsters that popped up every now and then before they could become a bigger threat.
Even if the adventurer and the Crimson Knight were only separated by a single rank, it was obvious that the difference between the two of them when it came to strength was like the difference between heaven and earth.
"Help sweep the situation under the rug? So, he will help clean up for me if I help him out? Sure, I will play along. Not to mention, it will be rather entertaining to have that old man ask me for help personally, hehe, I can definitely use this against him in the future.
Although, I am a bit curious about what he suspects that little town manager to be up to. Illegal monster experimentation? Trying to create an artificial monster stampede inside the dungeon and trigger a monster break? Maybe even something with those fanatics that have recently emerged? Hehe, no matter what it is, I'm sure it's at least going to be exciting!"
Smiling to himself as he said this, the A Rank Adventurer, the Knight of the Crimson Flame, stood up and made his way out towards the spiral staircase leading up towards the third floor of the dungeon located in the middle of the small fortress.
Much to the relief of the older adventurer, who quickly followed behind him. Knowing that he had managed to successfully accomplish his mission.
