Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 106: Small Valley

Not wasting any time after she finished eating the delicious mountain rabbit, Scaly immediately began to practice her dragon breath on the mountain monsters. Soon enough, resulting in most of the mana she had gathered disappearing as the mana required by the dragon breath skill was far more than that of a simple water spear or water ball.

At the very least, she discovered that she could adjust the power behind her dragon breath and somewhat limit the mana used so she didn't end up using an all out attack every time she used her dragon breath for fighting.

Not just that, but after learning that she could adjust the mana needed for her dragon breath skill, she also decided to practice with her water magic and see how she could improve on it. Resulting in her finding out that her water magic was far more complicated and powerful than she had first thought.

Outside of just using her water magic to enhance her claw strikes or conjure up water balls and spears for attacking, she realized that her water magic could also be used to shape the water balls into different shapes that could be strengthened by adding more mana to them.

Among the different shapes she tried to change her water magic into, she realized that there wasn't really any that would be that much better than the sharp spear she had already created.

The only really useful shape she came up with so far after the discovery was creating a sharp drill and trying to spin it to increase its penetrative power. Although it did drain far more mana compared to a simple water spear, it at least did have more power and should be useful against opponents that the normal water spear couldn't hurt.

In a sense, it was in this way she had first created the water spear in the past, but she just hadn't really thought about trying to create more things with her water magic since then.

Thinking about it, Scaly didn't take long to realize that creating more ways to use her water magic might be a way for her to increase the level of her water magic that had been stuck at level 7.

Although she had not yet managed to find any other new ways to use her water magic outside of the water drill, she felt certain that there were far more ways for her to use the water magic outside of just the few simple methods that she had been using so far.

For example, she could try and draw inspiration from how the human mages skilled in water magic like herself had been using their magic when attacking her. From that, she might be able to figure out ways to make her water magic even stronger.

Thud~

However, for now, she needed to once again lay down flat on the ground and recover her mana, as all the training so far had left her in a state not much different from when she first arrived at the mountain.

At the same time, she decided to take the opportunity to check out if any of her skills had managed to become stronger during her dedicated training time. Wanting to see if it really was worth it for her to just focus on increasing the level of her skills instead of focusing on hunting down monsters.

Name: Scaly

Race: Ancient Water Dragon Lizard

Level: 30/30

STR: 110 |VIT: 240| DEX: 95 | M: 258

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline lvl 3], [Flight lvl 2], [Water Magic lvl 7], [Poison Resistance lvl 2], [Claw Strike lvl 4], [Swimming lvl 1], [Dragon Breath (Water), lvl 2]

Looking at her status, Scaly didn't take long to notice that her dragon breath had indeed managed to level up during her focused training.

Even if her dragon bloodline was still only level 3, she felt that it wasn't a wasted endeavor to focus on training her dragon breath skill, as she was certain that it would positively affect her dragon bloodline and hopefully stimulate it enough for it to reach level 4 in the near future.

Hopefully something that wouldn't end up taking too long, as she had no plans of postponing her evolution for an extended period of time.

After all, if she ended up spending too long on trying to have her dragon bloodline reach level 4, she might end up taking longer to become a dragon than if she just chose to go through her third evolution now.

Outside of that, there was also the fact that it was dangerous for her to postpone an increase in strength, as she still had no idea if there were any stronger monsters like the drake, she had seen on her journey to the mountain range nor when she might end up running into one of these monsters.

In the end, as she laid down and recovered her mana while looking at her status, Scaly decided that she would spend the next two days trying to increase the level of her dragon bloodline.

If she failed to raise the level of her dragon bloodline to level 4 when the time was up, she would go through her third evolution and continue hunting down monsters like she had done so far to try and increase her strength.

No matter what, she couldn't waste too much time on something that didn't bring any results, as any slowdown in her strength increasing would mean she was at a bigger risk of being killed by the other monsters in the dungeon or the humans that seemed to be roaming the dungeon killing any monsters they encountered along the way.

The main reason for the uneasy feeling about her current strength being inadequate being the drake she had seen when moving towards the mountain range.

Although she didn't say anything or think about it, she clearly felt a sense of inferiority when comparing herself with the majestic figure of the drake flying through the air.

After all, when compared to the drake that could already be considered a single step below a true dragon, she was still far away. Not even having any wings nor the ability to fly like the dragons she imagined…

Boing~ Boing~

At the same time Scaly slowly drifted off to sleep again after causing all of the monsters on the mountain to hide away in fear of being targeted by her, one of the mountain rabbits jumped across the rocky terrain with a determined expression on its face.

Soon enough, half an hour after it set off, it arrived at the base of the mountain where a small valley now more than a few hundred meters wide connected the mountain Scaly was on to the rest of the mountain range.

Squeak…

Seeing this valley, the mountain rabbit came to a stop as its expression was filled with fear.

However, as it turned to look back up in the direction it had come from, it quickly shook off the fear and bravely jumped forward and into the small valley. Not daring to slow down after it stepped inside the valley as it sped through it in a few minutes before arriving at the base of the mountain on the other side that was fully connected to the rest of the mountain range.

Squeak~

Letting out an overjoyed squeaking sound the next second, the mountain rabbit didn't dare stand around the base of the mountain for too long as it soon began making its way inside the mountain range with a happy expression plastered all over its face. Clearly overjoyed that it had managed to successfully pass through the valley without any problems.

Squeak?

Unexpectedly, before it had a chance to travel more than a few meters up the base of the new mountain, the mountain rabbit suddenly noticed another mountain rabbit appearing on the other side of the valley.

Obviously, it was a mountain rabbit that had gotten the same idea as itself and also wanted to take the opportunity while Scaly wasn't around and should be resting to run away into the deeper parts of the mountain range.

Considering that the mountain range itself was larger and thus had far more places to hide, this wasn't a bad path to take, as it could also benefit the mountain rabbits themselves and possibly even help them evolve in the future.

SQUUUEAAAK-!

Unfortunately, different from the first mountain rabbit that had managed to safely pass through the valley without any problems, the second mountain rabbit wasn't as lucky, as a terrified sound soon echoed out from the depths of the small valley a short time after the second mountain rabbit wandered inside.

Squeak…

Knowing what had happened without having to personally see it, the first mountain rabbit didn't dare stay around the base of the new mountain any longer, as it quickly rushed up without looking back. Soon enough hiding inside a small hole in the ground for the next few hours before daring to pop its head out to continue moving forward.
