Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 102: Dragon Breath!

Glancing around herself for the monsters who had been chasing after her during her chase of the sorcerer snake, Scaly was surprised to discover that none of those monsters had appeared to attack her during her weakened moment.

Instead, she could barely catch a glimpse of them disappearing into the tall grass in the distance. Having clearly decided to run away at some point in time instead of continuing their joined attack on her.

Although she did feel this was a bit of a pity considering that she shouldn't have any problem dealing with them even in her weakened state, she still felt happy she wouldn't need to engage in another battle just after finishing off the sorcerer snake.

After all, she had no clue if there were more powerful monsters around observing her from a distance. Waiting for her to grow weak enough for them to sweep in and kill her.

All things considered, this was still the fourth floor of the dungeon and the monster inside it should be stronger on average compared to the monsters she had encountered at the third floor of the dungeon

At least, that was how things had been so far whenever she went to a new floor inside the dungeon. The deeper she went, the stronger the monsters she encountered became.

No… Not just the monsters, the humans she encountered also became stronger the deeper she went into the dungeon.

Compared to the weak humans at the first floor of the dungeon, the humans at the third floor of the dungeon were on a completely different level...

I should go back for now and see if any of the delicious monsters are still around before trying to find somewhere to go through my third evolution.

Thinking this to herself as she made sure that there weren't any monsters around, Scaly went back in the direction where the invisible window had been located and found the most delicious monster she had killed before happily chomping down at it to fill her stomach.

I should check out my status now that I managed to reach level 30 and I also need to check out the new skill I used to deal with the sorcerer snake.

At the same time, Scaly also decided to pull up her status to check out how strong she was now that she had managed to reach level 30, while at the same time also wanting to find out more about the attack, she had used to defeat the sorcerer snake.

Name: Scaly

Race: Ancient Water Dragon Lizard

Level: 30/30

STR: 108 |VIT: 235| DEX: 93 | M: 252

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline lvl 3], [Flight lvl 2], [Water Magic lvl 7], [Poison Resistance lvl 2], [Claw Strike lvl 4], [Swimming lvl 1], [Dragon Breath (Water), lvl 1]

Dragon breath!? A dragon related skill like the dragon bloodline!?

Seeing the new skill that had appeared like she had expected, Scaly could not help showing a shocked expression on her face when she read the name of the skill. Soon turning into an overjoyed expression, as she understood that this meant she had come one step closer to her goal of becoming a dragon.

And so, not wasting a single second, she excitedly inspected the skill.

[Dragon Breath (Water), lvl 1]: Stimulated by the dragon bloodline flowing through your body and your water magic, you awakened the dragon breath inherent to those carrying the noble dragon bloodline. Given your elemental affinity with water, the dragon breath awakened carries the power of water.

Reading through the description of the dragon breath skill that she had managed to awaken, Scaly could not help feeling excited, as she not only managed to gain a new dragon skill, but also because she learnt that the ability had been awakened from her dragon bloodline.

Even though the level of her dragon bloodline hadn't increased compared to before. Wasn't this the same as saying that her dragon bloodline had grown stronger?

If not for it growing stronger, how would she have managed to awaken the dragon breath skill?

As she thought more about this, Scaly became even more excited as she had a feeling that her dragon bloodline would soon be able to level up again. Maybe after her next evolution, her dragon bloodline would level up to level 4. Further increasing her growth speed like it had done in the past-

Hm? But if my dragon bloodline is already close to leveling up, won't I be able to get an even better evolution if I can get it to level 4 before I go through my next evolution…?

Suddenly freezing mid bite as she thought about this, Scaly could not help remembering that her past evolutions were related to the level of her dragon bloodline. If she increased the level of her dragon bloodline, wouldn't that mean that she would be able to get an even better evolution?

Not just that, but she might even be able to directly become a dragon if her dragon bloodline increased by another level!

The only problem was… She had no idea how to increase the level of her dragon bloodline, the way she had managed to increase its level so far had been by going through evolutions, she had never increased the level of her dragon bloodline without the help of an evolution.

In turn, this resulted in her having no clue on how she could increase the level of her dragon bloodline.

The only clue she had so far was the fact that she had a feeling that her dragon bloodline should be close to reaching level 4 due to the awakening of her dragon breath skill during her battle with the sorcerer snake.

Outside of that, she didn't have any idea about the progress of her dragon bloodline.

Perhaps increasing the level of my dragon breath will help increase the level of my dragon bloodline?

In the end, Scaly could only turn towards her only other dragon skill, as she looked at the status screen floating in front of her filled with determination.

Although she didn't have any real idea how to increase the strength of her dragon bloodline, she didn't really need to know, as it was clear that it had been increasing in strength without her knowledge.

Even if increasing the level of her dragon breath ended up not working, she only needed to wait until her dragon bloodline broke through to the next level naturally.

The main problem with this was the fact that she had no idea how strong the monsters on the fourth floor were and if it was even safe for her to hold back on increasing her strength for a few days.

After all, even if she had yet to encounter any of the monsters on the fourth floor of the dungeon, she had a feeling that it would only be a matter of time before it happened… And considering that the only thing around her were a few trees and tall grass, she wouldn't have anywhere safe to escape if the monster she encountered was stronger than her.

Well… Even if I wanted to go through my third evolution now, there isn't even anywhere safe for me to go through it without the risk of being attacked. First of all, it looks like I will need to find a way out of the grass plains.

Shaking her small head as she thought about this to herself, Scaly looked towards the tree not too far away from where she had first landed inside the fourth floor of the dungeon, as she didn't hesitate for a second before climbing her way up the tree. Hoping that the higher elevation would help her find a way out of the grass plains.

Grass… Grass… A small stream… And more grass…

Scanning the surroundings with an increasingly disappointed expression on her face, Scaly only saw grass in all directions. Only to be broken up by a small stream every now and then.

MOUNTAINS!

Luckily, just as she was about to give up and return to the soft ground below, she spotted what looked like a mountain range just over the horizon.

Not to mention the fact that mountains were good for hiding and going through her third evolution, it would also allow her to get a better understanding of the fourth floor of the dungeon if she could climb to the top of the mountain and get a better view of her surroundings, something she had managed to gain a lot from back at the third floor of the dungeon.

Whoosh~

So, without wasting any time, Scaly made her way down the lonely tree before starting to make her way in the direction of the mountain range.

Not stopping to recover her mana, as she understood that there wasn't anywhere for her to hide inside the grass plains without being discovered. Instead, it would be far better to just recover a bit slower while moving towards the mountain range where she should be able to find somewhere to hide away in case she needed to.
