SSS Class Mythic Beast Master

Chapter 181: Recollection Painting

Irene hand dove into her bag before picking up a well-used pen. She positioned it over a blank notebook that had appeared beside the Grimoire.

Then the others also began moving.

Resa's hand moved to her face, producing glasses seemingly from nowhere.

She placed them on her nose as she pulled out her own brown leather notebook, which was smaller than Irene's, and a pen appeared in her hand.

Jake bent down beneath the table with the sounds of paper rustling echoing out, and items shifting under.

Then he stood up while holding a large painting sheet that he spread across his section of the table.

His hands disappeared back into his bag, emerging with charcoal sticks and painting materials that he arranged in precise order.

Kite pulled a massive notebook from beside his chair, the thing was easily twice the size of Irene's.

Then he placed his drawing materials next to the notebook before he organized them together.

Reinhard blinked as he watched the table transform. "What-"

"Resa and Irene will write down what you relay, but they'll focus on different things." Alger's explanation came smoothly, clearly having given it before. "Irene focuses on the events, such as what happens, the actions, the progression of the dream."

Irene nodded, her pen tapping against her notebook once in acknowledgment.

"Resa focuses on background elements." Alger gestured toward the red-haired girl. "The sounds, the atmosphere, outside context. The theme, emotions, and subtle things being communicated that aren't explicitly stated."

Reinhard's eyes widened in surprise before delight spread across his face. "That would be very useful and helpful."

Resa beamed at him with her green eyes shining as a light giggle escaped her lips, pleased at the recognition.

Irene nodded again, her grin widening with satisfaction.

"Jake will focus on the environment in your dreams." Alger's hand gestured toward the boy with the painting sheet. "Hopefully you can explain them in detail, such as the landscapes, architecture, and weather conditions."

Jake's nervous expression had faded, replaced by determination as his fingers already held charcoal, ready to sketch.

"Kite focuses on figures." Alger's final gesture indicated the blond boy. "How they look, how they act, visual displays of the dream itself. He'll create character studies and action sequences."

Kite's excitement had transformed into focus. His pen hovered above the massive notebook as he tapped his feet on the floor while swaying his.

"Then you all combine it to create a visual story?" Reinhard asked in understanding, while also seeing that these students were all a well-coordinated team.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought they had been doing this for years and were professionals. Reinhard thought.

Irene's eyes shine brighter than before she half-rose from her chair, leaning across the table toward him. "Rein, like I said before! We were destined to meet!"

Alger laughed as he nodded. "You're right, but that's my job. Taking all the materials and bringing them together to create a visualized story." His fuchsia eyes held passion that matched Irene's. "In fact, that's my dream. To provide our history with visualized stories so it can be opened to a larger audience."

Reinhard sighed in a bit of awe and amazement. "It would be something even kids would be willing to read and take an interest in."

Resa nodded in excitement, her red hair bouncing with the motion. "My parents' neighbors have kids. I showed them a previous work of Alger's, and they all fell in love. They wanted me to read more, so I can't wait for the history version."

Jake and Kite nodded in unison before Kite said in eagerness. "My uncle enjoyed reading it and is willing to fund this if Alger can continue."

Reinhard blinked in surprise before a faint smile appeared. "Then I look forward to this."

It would be a good thing I can give to Anasha, Anna, and Klein. They would be even more delighted if they found it was his own dream. The thought brought warmth to his chest. He could imagine their reactions, Anasha especially, who'd recently discovered her love for books.

This was different from Anna and Klein, who preferred visual stories or oral storytelling.

Irene's hands came together in a sharp clap, and her cyan eyes fixed on Reinhard with absolute focus. "Alright. We should start now."

Five sets of eyes turned toward him.

Pens hovered above paper, charcoal touched canvas, all waiting and ready.

Reinhard nodded, and then he began talking about his recent dream, but he first started off by explaining the characters and the environment. "The snow land is occupied by a Towering Frost Giant, which is the first one, and the creator. Then there are smaller frost giants formed from its sweat while it slept. A towering cow that emerged from melting frost, and a Pale One figure with long white hair, pale skin, and bronze-tipped fingers."

His hand gestured as he spoke, trying to capture the scale. "The Pale One can walk into the realm opposite of the frost one, a lava and fire realm. In the middle between these two is a neutral zone where both elements clash, creating purple, black, and white swirling patterns."

Jake's charcoal was already moving across his painting sheet, rough shapes taking form, and making notes at the top for color. Resa's pen scratched notes about the environmental contrasts.

"All the smaller frost giants were formed by the Towering Giant's sweat while it slept," Reinhard continued. "The Pale One came out of a frozen ice crystal that the towering cow freed by licking it."

Alger leaned forward slightly. "The cow you mentioned licks the ice. Does it do anything else significant?"

Reinhard paused, considering. "It wanders the horizon, and it's used by Towering Giant and other frost giants as a nutrient as they suck on its essence. The giants seem to respect it based on this, and its massive presence."

Irene's pen flew across her notebook, capturing the hierarchy. Kite sketched quick character studies with broad strokes, showing the size differences between the beings.

"There's also a female frost giant," Reinhard added. "She's different from the others. More fluid in her movements. Her ice is tinted blue, and her eyes are like pale frost-covered glass, while also having a faintly luminous chest and curved crystalline horns."

Resa underlined something in her notes. "She sounds distinct. Important?"

"Very." Reinhard's expression softened slightly. "She and the Pale One grew close. They explored together, built structures together. Their bond became intimate and close."

Alger nodded knowingly, making a note. "Continue with the recent dream."

Reinhard's blue eyes scan across their focused faces before continuing. "It started with an earthquake. The Pale One was in the middle of shaping ice when the tremor hit. The female giant turned sharply before they saw the ground trembling from deep below."

Jake's charcoal darkened, creating heavy lines to suggest underground disturbance. Resa wrote, resonance from beneath, all beings affected, and everyone reacted.

"The smaller ice-beings scattered in confusion, and even the towering cow lifted its head. The Pale One moved first toward the boundary where fire meets frost, and the others followed."

Irene's pen moved rapidly. Pale One takes initiative, and the others trust his judgment. The Pale One seems to be both curious and independent of the Towering Giant.

"They found the source near the fire area. The ground had split open, revealing a passage descending into darkness. But it wasn't complete darkness as there was a luminous light emanating from deep within. It was oddly inviting and gave off a warm feeling."

Kite's pencil captured the Pale One kneeling at the edge, the others gathered behind. His strokes suggested awe and hesitation.

"The Towering Giant arrived last. The Pale One looked at it, and it nodded once before stepping into the passage and descending."

"They all followed?" Alger asked in interest.

"Without hesitation. The Pale One and female giant went next, then the smaller ice-beings, then the cow, which somehow fit despite its size."

Jake began sketching the descent as he included the walls glowing with luminescence, the image of all of them moving downward.

"The passage walls glowed brighter as they descended. The air changed from extremely hot to something cool and a nice breeze."

Resa underlined with environmental transition, sensory shift, and anticipation building.

"Then the passage opened." Reinhard's voice dropped slightly.. "There was sky. Actual light blue sky stretching overhead with wispy clouds. Below was a landscape of impossible beauty."

All five pens and pencils paused momentarily.

"A lake dominated the view with waters so clear they seemed made of crystals. The surface glowed in azure and turquoise, reflecting the sky while maintaining its own luminescence. At the shores, light blue snow that looked fluffy and inviting. And growing through that snow were patches of golden grass swaying in an unfelt breeze."

Jake's hands moved faster, capturing the lake's expanse. Kite sketched the frost giants' reactions, and their crystalline forms reflecting this new world.

"Trees rose from the landscape. Their leaves glowed softly, as if each contained tiny stars and bushes clustered between them, ranging from deep emerald to bright jade. And there were flowers of white, gold, and pale blue."

And then he continued talking, and gradually the five students had expressions of awe as they worked.

After twenty minutes had passed, Reinhard ended it with the Pale One and the female Frost Giant lying against the trunk while the others moved around.
