Marie furrowed her brows as it had been five minutes since Fenrir and that knight, being on the horse, had rushed into the sky. She glanced around to see that her friends were still staring at the sky in stunned silence, with none of them knowing how to really react.
After all, how do you even react or talk about the sight of the sky breaking and closing?
But after a bit, Marie got worried as she was waiting for Reinhard to show up, as the others also gradually showed up, since not all of them were teleported around the ruined clinic.
At first, it was just her, Martha, Gran, and Anasha. But then Nikki joined them with a grin while being covered by dust and dirt as if she didn't mind it. Then Roana came with her, wiping off the dust and freezing any open wound on her body. Then Scath came with her crimson-black spear held over her shoulder while staring at the sky with a grin.
And then finally Joseph came, but there was no sign of Reinhard. When she asked Joseph previously, he said he had no idea but maybe he would show up after a bit.
And then, after five minutes with Reinhard not showing up, Marie couldn't wait. So she turned to the person who should be the last to have seen him, Martha.
Marie called out to Martha with worry. "Martha! Do you know where Reinhard is?!"
The others gathered quickly, with Joseph walking over with scratches on him, while Scath tilted her head with a look of curiosity on her face. Roana's golden eyes furrowed her brows while Nikki's and Gran kept Anasha behind them.
Anasha was looking all around, her eyes displaying worry as she clutched the back of Gran's shirt.
"Where is he?" Joseph's question came urgently. "Did he not escape!?"
Martha's head tilted back slowly, and her light blue eyes stared upward to the sky. Violet-blue hair fell away from her face as she gazed at something only she could see.
"Don't worry." Her voice emerged distant, detached. "He'll be fine... Besides, you already saw him."
Confusion rippled through the group. Brows furrowed. Heads turned toward each other, seeking understanding no one possessed.
Marie's eyes widened suddenly. Her breath caught. "Do you mean that being in the black armor? On the horse?"
Martha nodded while still gazing at the sky.
"Wait-" Scath started forward. "That was Reinhard? How is that even-"
But Scath was interrupted as the sky above them cracked.
The crimson-black dome that had sealed Phane City split apart like shattered glass. A hole appeared at its center, spreading outward in patterns that grew more complex with each passing second.
Through that hole, something descended.
A white long spear drifted down, leaving behind a trailing light that hurt to look at directly. It fell without urgency, moving at speeds that seemed leisurely despite covering impossible distances in seconds.
Everyone's heads looked upward, whether it was a human or beast, all of them were stunned by the beauty and sight.
All words died, and people stopped breathing as they watched the spear strike the ground in the city's center plaza.
The impact created no crater, no explosion, and no destruction.
It was just a beautiful light that spread out. The pure white radiance moved in waves that washed across every street, every building, and every corner of Phane City.
Where the light touched, the crimson-black sky shattered completely. Fragments dissolved into nothingness as it began revealing a blue sky.
The beautiful real sky began showing itself, and the barrier that had sealed them from the world simply ceased to exist.
And then the light touched the bodies.
…
A Phane City Guard lay crumpled against a broken wall, his chest crushed by a Tonothus's charge. White light washed over him, leading to his chest beginning to reform, ribs were mending, organs regenerating, and flesh closing over restored bone.
Color returned to his skin, and then his eyes opened, blinking in confusion.
A civilian woman who was crushed beneath falling debris, her body broken beyond recognition. The light wrapped around her scattered remains before everything about her was being restored until she was whole again.
The woman gasped for air as she trembled and then shivered in delight from the pure radiance that hugged her tightly.
A Beast Master Guard that was torn apart by Werefang claws, his body in pieces across cobblestones. The light gathered those pieces, pulled them together with invisible threads.
The body reconstructed itself from fragments, becoming whole, becoming alive again. His eyes opened with shock written across his restored face as he gasped and stood up.
It happened everywhere simultaneously.
Bodies were reforming, wounds healing, and life returning to the dead.
…
Scath stared, her wine-colored eyes wide with disbelief, and her crimson-purple spear hung forgotten in her grip. "This is... How is this..."
Roana's mouth opened and closed without forming words as her golden eyes tracked the spreading light. "How? And... And how?" The questions emerged barely above whispers. "This shouldn't be possible."
Gran stared at a body close to them, a man who had been dead when he and Anasha had run over. But now he saw the man's chest was being healed, his wounds closed, and he opened his eyes in confusion.
"Is this a miracle?" Gran's voice carried wonder and uncertainty in equal measure. He looked up at the sky, where blue had replaced crimson-black. "What else could this be?"
Nikki's eyes shine with tears as she clapped her hands together, pressing them against her lips. "Amazing! It's amazing! Everyone's coming back! They're all returning!" Her voice broke into laughter mixed with sobs.
Joseph stood frozen, his green eyes tracking the spreading light as it brought life wherever it touched. "It's so beautiful." The words emerged as barely more than breath. "I've never seen anything so beautiful."
Anasha's small hands clasped together at her chest, and her blue eyes were filled with tears and joy. "It's just like those stories! The ones Mom and Dad used to read to me! The ones Ven made up about miracles that could bring back the dead!" She bounced slightly despite everything. "It's real! The stories are real!"
Marie watched everything in awe, her light-gold eyes tracking the resurrections, the healing, the impossible restoration of life to thousands of people.
A grin spread across her face, wide and genuine and filled with relief so profound it made her chest ache.
Then the grin faltered.
Her gaze swept across the reforming city. Across the people rising from death and across the spreading light that continued its work.
Reinhard wasn't among them.
Marie furrowed his brows, but then she blinked when the light washed over the Phantasm Beasts.
…
The golden light in the Phantasm Beast's eyes was fading, and their eyes returned to their normal colors as they blinked in confusion.
A Werefang that had been tearing through a building stopped mid-attack. Its eyes shifted from gold to crimson before it began to look around, seeing the destruction it had caused, and whimpered.
And then the white light shines around the Phantasm Beasts. The Werefang's form became translucent, then transparent, then simply gone, and they were teleported away.
It happened to all of them.
A confused Bumbodusk was wrapped in the light before vanishing. Tonothus was disappearing mid-bellow, while Cheronos was fading while trying to understand what was happening.
Autumn Deer, Bear-Terrors, the Bone Wyvern, and all of the other Phantasm were being transported away.
Within minutes, no Phantasm Beasts remained in Phane City.
…
Such a sight left the other stunned, but Marie was too busy staring at the sky.
Marie's hands clenched at her sides. Where is he? Don't tell me he is still fighting up there? How long will it take… I am worried-
It was then that a voice appeared in Marie's head and interrupted her thoughts.
Follow if you want to see Reinhard.
Marie blinked before she looked around, and then she saw a streak of silver light appear in her peripheral vision.
It was faint and easy to miss if she hadn't been looking, but she didn't care as she started to run after it.
