The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 121 Banquet

The sun showered the new day with its warm glow. Li Yitong had already departed during the afternoon, leaving Chen Zheng with a luxurious car.

Chen Zheng hadn't gone out. He stayed in the villa, keeping in touch with his family, including Wei Zixuan, Liu Qianqian, and Li Hao. He sat in the villa, his fingers sliding across his phone screen.

It wasn't until the sun's afterglow was replaced by the night, around seven o'clock, that Chen Zheng received a call from Li Yitong. The banquet was about to begin, and everything was ready.

So, Chen Zheng drove his car toward the Magic Capital Hotel.

Outside the hotel's grand entrance, a beautifully made-up woman was intimately linking arms with a young man. The man was dressed in a bespoke suit and wore a Vacheron Constantin watch on his wrist, giving off the impression of a successful businessman.

The woman said coquettishly, "Darling, why is Lily so slow? Should I call her? I'm starving!"

The young man frowned slightly and suggested, "Alright, I'm hungry too. Let's go in first, but make sure to call her over. Young Master Wei has already said he wants to see her tonight!"

"Got it!" the woman replied. They didn't say anything more and walked into the hotel side by side.

At that moment, Chen Zheng pulled up in his car and stepped out.

The moment the woman caught sight of Chen Zheng, her eyes lit up like the brightest stars in the night sky. So handsome!

However, when she noticed Chen Zheng was dressed in simple, casual wear, a hint of disappointment flickered across her face. To think he doesn't have a single decent outfit. Such a handsome face is wasted in these simple clothes.

While she was lost in thought, Chen Zheng made his way toward the hotel. Before long, they had all entered the building.

"Huh?" The woman's gaze lingered on Chen Zheng briefly. Then, as if struck by an indescribable suspicion, her eyebrows furrowed slightly.

This was no ordinary banquet. It was a social event jointly hosted by the Li and Liu Families, inaccessible to the average person. Chen Zheng's appearance was like a grain of sand falling into a tranquil lake, stirring her curiosity.

"Dear, did you see that man? He actually followed us inside. Does he think he's some big shot?" the woman whispered to the young man, a sneer curling at the corner of her mouth.

The young man gave her an indifferent glance, as if to say, "Don't worry about him. Being able to get in is a skill in itself."

The two of them stepped into the elevator and went straight to the 20th floor.

The space on the 20th floor was spacious and bright, like an independent little world. Tonight's event was a Western-style buffet, with a dazzling array of food for guests to choose from.

Chen Zheng had been hungry since the afternoon. Upon arriving at the banquet hall, he didn't look for Li Yitong. Instead, he went straight to a large platter, piled his plate high with food, and found a place to sit.

A waiter approached with a smile, offering him champagne.

"Thank you," Chen Zheng said in a low, polite voice before he began to enjoy his meal.

However, he was unaware that his actions had once again caught the attention of the woman and the young man.

"Look, the guy really did sneak in to mooch food. What a pitiful beggar!" the woman sneered, her words as sharp and cold as a knife.

The young man only gave Chen Zheng a cursory glance, seemingly unwilling to involve himself in the matter.

The crowd at the banquet surged like a tide as people searched for acquaintances and engaged in small talk. The event, a seemingly solemn ceremony, was in fact a subtle platform for exchange among the great families. Of course, the topics invariably revolved around the Li Family, the Liu Family, and the two Grandmasters. Whenever the word "Grandmaster" was mentioned, people's expressions would fill with deep envy and respect.

The banquet proceeded in a harmonious and orderly atmosphere.

During the event, Li Cangyun, Liu Daoyi, and others noticed Chen Zheng. They intended to go over and greet him but were deterred by his profound gaze. Chen Zheng had no desire to become the center of attention. He just wanted to enjoy the food, wait for the banquet to end, and then leave with Li Yitong.

At one table, the young man and the heavily made-up woman were chatting with Yan Lili. With them was another dashing young man with an extraordinary presence—Wei Zhao.

"Yan Lili, Miss Yan," he began, "allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wei Zhao, but everyone calls me Young Master Wei. May I have the honor of inviting you for a drink?"

Wei Zhao's invitation caused a ripple in Yan Lili's heart, but for her best friend's sake, she clenched her teeth and stood up, "Thank you, Young Master Wei!"

Raising her glass, Yan Lili lightly clinked it against Wei Zhao's and took a sip of the fine wine. Wei Zhao maintained a gentlemanly smile as he also took a sip.

"Congratulations, Young Master Wei. I heard you have a big project in your hands!" the young man exclaimed.

Wei Zhao responded with a modest smile, "It's nothing significant, just a small project worth a few hundred million. Don't worry, Zhong Jiang, Daseng will get its cut!"

Zhong Jiang's eyes twinkled. Filled with gratitude, he said, "Thank you for your generosity, Young Master Wei. I'd like to express my respect with this glass of wine."

As soon as he finished speaking, Zhong Jiang gave a knowing look to the heavily made-up woman. The woman, who had bright eyes and a dazzling smile, instantly understood his intent. She responded with a smile of her own, "Today is a joyous occasion. How can we let you two enjoy it alone? Lily, drink with us and celebrate!"

Wei Zhao was full of admiration for the woman's bold spirit.

Although she wasn't much of a drinker and felt rather helpless, Yan Lili didn't want her best friend to lose face, so she reluctantly lifted her glass and drank with the group. The tart wine was as bitter as life's difficulties, but she swallowed it down with steely resolve.

As time flowed by, the ongoing conversation led Yan Lili to empty several glasses of strong alcohol. Her cheeks flushed red like the dawn sky, and her thoughts grew hazy.

"Lily, how about another glass?" the woman's voice chimed in.

"Yingying, I'm feeling a bit dizzy. I need to go to the restroom," Yan Lili replied before rising to leave, but Huang Yingying paid her no mind.

At that moment, Zhong Jiang spoke up, "Young Master Wei, how is the plan progressing?"

Wei Zhao's gentlemanly smile vanished instantly, replaced by a grave tone. "It's going smoothly. If I can win her heart tonight, the project will be Daseng's."

"Thank you so much, Young Master Wei!" A delighted smile spread across Zhong Jiang's face while Huang Yingying smiled at his side.

That was an order worth tens of millions.

Zhong Jiang was the heir to Daseng Real Estate. Although it was a small company with total assets of just over a billion yuan, Wei Zhao was connected to Liu Family Real Estate. For Daseng, establishing a relationship with the Liu Family meant that even a small opportunity could lead to substantial benefits.

Originally, Zhong Jiang and Wei Zhao were like two parallel lines whose paths were never meant to cross.
