Zhuorong Town and Lu Yunsong watched as Xue Zhaolong blinked and vanished from sight. Confounded, they halted their sprint...
Ye Hao glanced back and cursed, "Stop dawdling. I've stored Long away, he'll reappear once we're back in Peng City."
Lu Yunsong and Zhuorong Town nodded in confusion, not really understanding what Ye Hao meant.
But Ye Hao explained, while running alongside them, "I have a movable space where I can store people. I used to fear its weakness being discovered, but now that Long is injured, if I don't take him in, and something happens to him, how could I face you all?"
After his explanation, Ye Hao apologized, "Sorry, brothers. I was stingy before, afraid to let you know."
Hearing Ye Hao's words, Zhuorong Town and Lu Yunsong deeply felt his trust, their eyes moistening.
Meeting such a miraculous brother in this life, what else is there to pursue forever?
"Boss, you're overthinking it. We all understand," said Lu Yunsong. Though chubby, he gritted his teeth and persevered, determined to fight alongside Ye Hao and his brothers.
"Indeed! A brother for a lifetime, our lifelong leader," Zhuorong Town sincerely expressed his heartfelt thoughts.
Ye Hao nodded, saying little more.
It took them half an hour to reach the Jingguo Shrine due to the abundance of soldiers in the streets. Stepping out would make them like mice, hunted by all.
Outside the Jingguo Shrine was a vast plaza, crowded with over a hundred fierce-looking middle-aged men, the Emperor's personal guards and Prime Minister Abe's bodyguards. They encircled the plaza, preventing disruptions as Emperor Miyazaki worshiped at the shrine.
The arrival of Ye Hao and his companions went unnoticed. They lurked behind the Jingguo Shrine, with the Divine Mountain further back.
Yet, the so-called Divine Mountain held little appeal. Without the shrine's fame, it would be no more than a hindrance, leveled by Abe in days.
Ye Hao led Zhuorong Town and Lu Yunsong southwest, as it was a convenient escape route to Yokohama.
The trio reached a small mountain hollow in the southwest and quietly lay in wait.
They refrained from throwing grenades, recognizing the danger of their elevated position. Tossing grenades would guarantee detection within minutes.
For safety, they observed the situation and surveyed their surroundings to facilitate escape.
"Song, Zhen, there are three major roads to the west, heavily patrolled by imperial troops, providing quick access to Yokohama's sea routes. The northern defenses are weaker, but further from Tokyo, and access to Hokkaido's naval base, Jiepeng, complicates escape. The east leads only to the Pacific." Using a simple map, Ye Hao explained.
"What do you suggest, boss?" Zhuorong Town, a historical assassin, lacked strategic insight beyond mission completion.
Lu Yunsong's half-baked ideas were useless in this critical moment.
"We should head towards the crowded areas; amid their defenses are bound to be lapses. Once we break through, we can grab vehicles for a swift Tokyo exit," suggested Ye Hao.
"It's your call, boss! But how will we destroy the Jingguo Shrine?" Zhuorong Town queried, skeptical of approaching without detection, let alone bomb destruction.
"Timed bombs!" Lu Yunsong blurted confidently.
"Shut up!" Zhuorong Town shot him a glare.
"Why are you saying that?" Lu Yunsong asked, puzzled.
"Think about it! Our National Martial Arts level is only five, and the shrine isn't large. Approaching means immediate detection, thwarting our plans," Zhuorong Town critiqued.
"True... That's a point," Lu Yunsong conceded thoughtfully.
"So, what's your plan?" Lu Yunsong countered.
"Ask the boss, I'm out of ideas," Zhuorong Town shrugged.
"Then why're you criticizing me?" Lu Yunsong retorted.
Ye Hao motioned for silence, then retrieved over ten thousand pounds of explosives from his space. These were secretly purchased from a fireworks factory, not military-grade but potent.
Ye Hao extracted a hundred system bomb boxes, the last in his inventory before restocking at Heaven-Filling Heroic Spirit island.
Each system box housed a hundred pounds of explosives.
"How do you plan to proceed, boss?" Zhuorong Town inquired.
"I'll handle it. Enter my space and tend to Long's wounds. I'll escape Tokyo alone afterwards," Ye Hao proposed, planning dangerous solo execution rather than risk his companions.
If solo, Ye Hao could act quickly, unburdened by concerns.
"Boss, how can you go alone?" Zhuorong Town objected.
"It must be done. I wanted you to witness battle, but bullets have no eyes. Injuries would weigh heavily on me," Ye Hao insisted, resolute in securing them in his space.
"No."
Ye Hao gestured and stored Zhuorong Town inside his space.
Lu Yunsong, witnessing this, urged, "Boss, does it hurt? Spare me if it does."
Ye Hao glared before storing him too.
Inside, they realized it was an independent space, oblivious to external events. Yet Ye Hao could communicate with them.
"Zhen, Song, care for Long. I'll return post-bombing," Ye Hao instructed softly outside.
Inside, Zhuorong Town and Lu Yunsong nodded, proceeding to extract bullets and sanitize Xue Zhaolong's wounds.
Ye Hao stored the system bomb boxes and steadily approached the Jingguo Shrine. (To be continued. If you like this work, visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote with recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
