Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 36: Mathematics

"I just want to ask, do you feel alright? That hip, is it still as painful as before?"

The grandmother wanted to scold him for asking such a question so early in the morning when she suddenly froze. She stood up from her bed and moved her right leg, then she moved the left.

She blinked.

She moved her limbs again and yet nothing.

No pain.

She blinked again and then a sudden warm smile broke through her face. "I... can't feel any pain."

Korgath's father began to laugh. "Ah! Really, I also can't feel any of my illness again. Isn't this too much? I feel as I was when I first started training. No, even better!"

The two of them looked at each other and then, without hesitation, they turned toward Korgath and looked at his sleeping form.

Korgath's father smiled. "Now then, mother. What was that tribute you used again?

'Unchanging Warth, breaker of chains. You are the.....'"

It was prayer that woke Galthor.

One was from Grimvar, and he did an early prayer, probably because the image he saw the previous night was burned in his mind so vividly he even saw it in his dream.

And the other was from Korgath's father and his mother. It seemed they woke and found that their illness had been healed, and they suddenly turned to him in prayer.

Indeed, what better way to believe in a god than when he personally performs a miracle on you? Galthor had gained his new two worshippers.

But that wasn't really what made him frown so deeply.

Indeed, when he performed the miracle, he was also waiting for the outcome even though he already felt that they were healed. The question that weighed heavily on his mind was, "Why can I heal them?"

Gods have domains. They have dominion over something, and they can't easily infringe on another's dominion. In fact, if a god consumes another god, it doesn't just translate into having the dominion of the other god, only their raw divine energy.

If a sun god consumes a moon god, it doesn't mean that the sun god would have powers over moonlight. It'll just make the sun god more powerful.

"I'm the god of anger. Why can I heal?" Galthor whispered to himself. "At most, maybe I can take the anger from their souls, but to heal? How?"

Galthor took a deep breath. "I should test it even more. Maybe when I get another lesser miracle, I'll use it on actual wounds to see for myself."

With that taken care of, Galthor got up and went to wash his mouth and then himself. "Time to see what today brings."

"Are we still going to the Xyrrh and the Kobolds?" Karathra asked.

After his wash, Galthor returned to the meeting room where food had been set up for him. The cooking team had woken up earlier than everyone else, expanding their team to accommodate all the new people who had just joined.

"Yes, we are. Bring me Ashclaw," Galthor said.

Before long, the barbarian was standing in front of Galthor with his hands behind him. "Chief?"

Galthor looked at him long enough to make him uncomfortable. "You know, you and your people who defected and left my people to suffer should have faced the same punishment as Skolvar Dustfang."

Ashclaw swallowed. The atmosphere in the room had suddenly turned heavy and threatening. His eyes flickered to Karathra and Brakthar, but there was no salvation there. Hesitantly, he asked, "Chief?"

Galthor continued. "The reason I did not kill you is because the Stronghide tribe is not strong enough to lose such a powerful force. But if my hand is forced, then I will not hesitate."

Ashclaw stiffened. Maybe before he would have dismissed those words, but now, after what he saw during the Chief's visit to the Winged people, he knew better. "What... do you want us to do?"

"I have decided to make you the captain of the hunting team. For now, your job is to hunt and deal with anything concerning the Abyssal land. You are the standing force of the Stronghide. Don't forget that."

Ashclaw swallowed and bowed. His heartbeat began to race. Previously, when they were all under the former chief, he wasn't considered important, but now, by some twist of fate, he had been elevated in front of the one who was blessed by the Barbarian god. Ashclaw silently vowed to work hard so that he could rise with the new Stronghide. "I will do my best, Chief."

"You don't have a choice," Galthor said dismissively. What those masters did was disloyalty and betrayal to the tribe, and if they weren't so important, they would be dead. He wasn't going to make it easy for them.

"Brakthar, how good are you at mathematics?"

His change of conversation left the whole lot confused, more so Brakthar. "What? What is mathematics?"

The word sounded strange on Galthor's lips. He frowned and got the right word that correlated with his new world. "Calculation. How good are your calculations?"

Brakthar frowned and shook his head. "Not bad, but I'm not that good at it."

The former established administration of the Stronghide had perished with Galthor's father. And if any remained in their real territory, then it would be under the new ChainLord.

"Alright. Brakthar, you'll have to go into town and find someone who's good with calculations. And we're going to set up our accounting department. We'll rename it in the future."

To be honest, the reason why Galthor was asking was because he didn't know much about it himself. He slept in bed throughout his life. What did he need mathematics for? But he knew about delegating, and he was about the whole lot of it.

"Department? What do you mean by that, Chief?" Brakthar asked with a confused expression.

Galthor smiled. "Don't mind me. As the messenger, the apostle of our god, I'll be saying a lot of strange words that I'll have to explain."

"Oh. Alright. Is that all?"

"No. Find someone who's also good at building stuff as well."
