"I died. I really died?"
The words tumbled out of Alv's lips.
Beside him sat Everlearn, who looked at the dude shaking as he hugged himself tightly.
He had waved before the boy's face many times, but he kept on muttering the fact that he had died.
His hand reached out in the next moment, and he slammed it on the back of Alv's neck, knocking him out.
Tapping on the pod, he waited for an animation beep, but nothing happened.
"Error. No Signal."
The AI voice rang out as Everlearn hummed.
BOOOM!
BOOOOM!
The sound of heavy footsteps echoed closer, and a glint of realization crossed through his eyes.
"The Nakros Arcane presence is destabilizing the signal. We need some distance to get back the signal and report, but…"
He turned to look at the boy, knocked out cold.
"With him like this, running will be quite difficult. The second option to report is…"
GRROOOOWWWWL!
A beastly growl left the Nakros's lips as it turned forward, finding him standing there, Everlearn.
SHRRRING!
From his right metallic suit, a meter-long blade slipped out, gleaming with blue energy.
ROOOOOOAR!
With a loud beastly roar, the Nakros grabbed a car from the side, raising it with all four arms before hurling it toward Everlearn/
BOOOOOM!
A crater opened in the ground as Everlearn flashed forward with speed.
Jumping off the ground,
RIIIIIIIIIIIIP!
He cleaved out with the blade, severing the entire car in two.
VRRRRRRROOOM!
A heavy smash came from the other side as Nakros's palm slammed outwards toward Everlearn, but it never reached him.
BOOOOOOOM!
The floor caved in as Everlearn slammed down as if he suddenly weighed a thousand tons, his legs swerving in a circle.
It smashed into the Nakros's back leg, knocking it off its feet as it tumbled.
It had yet to stabilize when,
BAAAAAAANG!
Everlearn's knee smashed out, slamming into Nakros's face and blowing it backward.
BOOOOOOM!
The floor caved in, a gigantic hole blown through the ground as it halted its retreat, slamming down all four massive claws toward Everlearn, who jumped up, weaving between the space.
Appearing high in the air, his leg straightened, swelling to twice its size as pitch-black veins crawled beneath the skin.
Then, he swung it down with immense force.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
Another massive explosion as the Nakros's head was forced into the ground, half its body buried in the half-a-meter-deep hole that had been blasted open
Everlearn stepped back after, a second blade shooting out of his arm, and immediately he slashed onto the Nakros's head, but it missed, as the creature shifted its head.
CRACK!
The sound of bone breaking rang out as the Nakros broke its arm to swing at an impossible spot.
Everlearn reacted instinctively, bringing both arms up, the blade overhead.
BOOOM!
The arm slammed into him as he was knocked off his feet, colliding with the wall.
The Nakros immediately jumped out of the crater it had been forced into, eyes turning fully crimson.
ROOOOAAAR!
It let out a beastly roar of anger, turning forward and watching as Everlearn stepped out of the crack in the wall.
In his hand was a massive green arm that had been severed cleanly by the blade, now hanging on its edges.
He dragged the hand of the blade before flinging it away like trash.
The Nakros stared at him, watching its prey shift into a combat stance.
In response, the slit on its stomach all of a sudden opened up.
The Nakros's four arms folded together forming a seal, and in the next moment, it called out,
"Nakrosio Artio…"
A ripple surged forward, and the world darkened right after.
"Bladio Severio…" he called out, and in the next moment,
SLASSSH!
SLASSSSH!
White slashes covered the space around Everlearn, racing toward him with speed.
To the incoming slashes, Everlearn's eyes shut close, the blade sticking from his arm withdrawn.
That seemingly rendered him absolutely defenseless and open to the incoming blades, yet when the first of them reached him.
He silently stepped back, the space where he had just been standing slashed to pieces.
Moving forward, Everlearn flickered from place to place, behind, beside, shifting backward, sideways, and forward in rapid succession.
The Nakros, standing in the sky with hands forming dim seals, had shock flash in its eyes as it watched Everlearn dodge every single blade with his eyes closed.
After dodging the last blade, Everlearn took a single step forward and disappeared.
When he reappeared, he was right before the Nakors, whose eyes widened in shock.
Calmly, the blue blade reappeared in his arms and silently,
PUUUCHI!
The sound of the blade piercing through flesh rang out as the blade tore through the slit in the Nakros's maw, ripping out from its back.
Tensing his hands, veins bulged all over Everlearn's arm, and in the next moment,
SLASSSSSSSSSSH!
The blade was slashed upwards, slicing out from the middle of the Nakro's head.
It had been divided into two, both halves slamming into the ground.
The dark realm immediately dispersed right after.
SPLATTER!
Blood splashed as Everlearn flung his blade to the side, sending the green blood flying off.
His head reached for the pod, which was blinking red, and he tapped it once.
"Protocol 404. This is Command Endric to Ever. Report status, Over."
The words echoed from the other side.
"No inj. No prob, Alv and Daph are safe. Alv is cons negative."
"Daph should report soon. Over."
"Mission accomplished, then."
"There's only one minute left. Maintain status. Over."
The connection was served, and Everlearn exhaled a long breath.
He looked at the corpse of the Nakros, slowly fading to motes of blue.
But no emotion crossed through his eyes.
Quietly, a minute passed, and in the next moment, his body began fading into blue motes of light.
"It's over."
Those were his last words before he completely faded out of the world.
_____
When he opened his eyes, he found himself back in the dark, glassy Void.
A blue mote of light exited his forehead and drifted back amongst the other blue motes of light flickering through the place.
He turned to look around, finding most of the students lying on their backs, chests heaving up and down in exhaustion, and some having been knocked out cold.
He was the only one who remained sitting, his breath calm.
He noticed a gaze on him and raised his head, turning to find a pair of crimson eyes staring at him.
It was Combat Aura, and her hands brought together as she clapped.
The sight of her clapping made the students pause in their breath, looking at the Combat Instructor with disbelief.
Her next words utterly surprised them.
"Impressive performance, Ever."
"That's the fifth Nakros you've defeated this week alone, and the third Arcane Attack that you survived."
