"Wait I didn't say that!" Raito snapped.
Kira crossed her arms again, smiling faintly. "You heard him. You're stuck with me now."
Raito's jaw tightened. "Tch. This is going to be annoying…"
"So you guys will be going soon?" Jiro asked, glancing at them. "You could've told me on the phone if you didn't want to go now. I'd have arranged things differently."
Raito scratched the back of his head. "Oh sorry. Don't be annoyed. We're still going today. It's just…"
Jiro raised a brow. "Are you not planning to change that coat? There's blood on it and it's torn. You know, I've got plenty of clothes that fit your style."
Raito sighed. "Fine. I'll take you up on the offer. Got a jacket or something I can wear?"
"Yeah, of course," Jiro said, motioning toward the house. "Come inside."
As Jiro walked ahead, Kira and Raito followed behind. The hall was quiet except for their footsteps. Kira looked at Raito from the corner of her eye.
"Thank you… for the other day," she said softly. "If you hadn't joined me, I would've lost my life."
"There's no need to thank me," Raito replied flatly. "I just did what I had to do. What I was supposed to do."
Kira let out a small smile and clasped her hands together. After a moment, she stepped a little closer so close he could feel her presence beside him.
Then, without warning, she placed her hand gently on his chest.
Raito froze. "H Hey what are you doing?" His face turned bright red. I'm still not used to women touching me… he thought, flustered.
"I just wanted to say thank you properly," she said with a quiet laugh. "When you took me with you and we flew up… it felt unreal. What kind of skill was that? You're definitely S rank, aren't you? You're way stronger than me. And," she paused, smiling mischievously, "I'm sure I'm the first lady you've carried like that, right?"
Raito coughed awkwardly. "Uh no. You're not."
Kira blinked. "Wait… what? Who else did you carry apart from me?"
"My sister. Why do you ask? Is there a problem?" Raito replied, trying to look calm.
Kira smiled again, shaking her head. "No reason."
Raito frowned slightly. "Why are you trying to be nice to me… acting like we're friends? There's no need to."
Kira just smiled faintly, not answering.
Then Jiro came back, holding a small bag. "Here," he said, handing it to Raito. Inside were a black jacket and a fresh shirt.
"Wait yeah?" Raito asked, taking the bag.
"Well, yeah," Jiro said, crossing his arms. "Since your trousers are still fine, you only need to change your clothes and jacket. Nothing more."
"Alright," Raito replied.
He began to remove his torn jacket, peeling off the damaged shirt underneath. Kira, standing by the wall, couldn't help but freeze. Her eyes widened.
Wow… how the hell is his body this built? she thought, her face heating up. He looks… majestic. Such a manly figure…
Raito noticed her staring and stopped halfway through putting on the new shirt. He looked at her with an awkward frown. "Hey… please don't stare so much. You're making me uncomfortable."
Kira's face went bright red. She quickly turned away. "S Sorry! I didn't realize I was staring that much," she stammered, her voice small.
Raito sighed, slipping on the new shirt, then the jacket. He buttoned it, rolled his shoulders slightly, and looked at his reflection in the nearby glass.
"Nice," he muttered.
Jiro grinned. "Wow. It suits you well."
Raito smirked faintly. "Well, it sure does. I can tell."
"So… do we move now?" Kira asked, adjusting the strap on her glove.
"Yeah," Jiro said, nodding. "You can. But first take this." He held out a small device. "It's a transmitter. You put it in your ear. No matter where you are, the world connection will stay stable."
Kira blinked. "Huh… sounds complicated."
"It is," Jiro said with a short laugh. "But it works."
Raito glanced at the device, then took it. For a moment he stared at it, then tossed it back toward Jiro. "No. I don't need this."
Jiro caught it, surprised. "You sure? This thing could save your life if the signal drops."
Raito's expression didn't change. "Because I don't plan on dying in the dungeon."
Jiro looked at him for a second then smiled faintly. "Fine. I guess that's how you are." He turned toward the control table beside him, picking up a small glass cube etched with runes. "Then it's time you both start moving."
He raised the glass cube high. The runes began to glow, bright blue light spreading across the floor like liquid energy. The air vibrated as a large gate materialized in front of them, a swirling mass of violet mist.
"New Gate," Jiro said softly. "Rank B confirmed."
Raito stepped forward, collected the glass cube from Jiro's hand, and glanced at his reflection on its surface. He tightened his face mask, pulling it up.
"Let's go," he said.
Kira nodded and followed as the gate pulsed once and then swallowed them both in a burst of light.
"So, let's go," Kira said.
Both of them stood up and walked out of the huge mansion. Outside, a sleek black Bentley was waiting for them, engine humming softly. The driver stood beside the car, opening the door respectfully.
Raito and Kira stepped in. The driver closed the door behind them, got into his seat, and began to drive off through the long stone driveway.
As the car rolled forward, Raito glanced at Kira. "Hey, i have to wear the glasses and masks once we get there. We don't want to be recognized by the public. I'm sure there'll be some hunters and cops stationed around the dungeon path."
Kira nodded. "Yeah, that's true. Since you don't want have fame or be known by the public or hunters, you can just show them your Hunter's Card. I'll show mine too, but I'll make sure they don't your face. So they won't memorize it."
