Divine System: Land of the Abominations

Chapter 117: They Know Me.

Nero sighed.

He was completely exhausted.

"How do you know my name?" He said through labored breaths.

The glowing ball of light shook slightly,

"I know all the names in the world! You can call me Icarus, Nero."

Nero grimaced as he sat up and stared at the thing.

Even now, he couldn't quite believe what he was seeing.

He chuckled bitterly,

"Damn it. I might be going crazy."

"You definitely are, Nero!"

The voice coming from the orb of light was upbeat and innocent. Like that of a pure child.

Combined with the spooky atmosphere of the forest, it was adequately terrifying.

Nero sighed,

"What do I do now?"

He had lost the thing chasing him in the forest, but now, he was also lost himself.

"I can lead you to the Spire of Dreams if you want, Nero."

Nero chuckled bitterly,

"You really can?"

The orb of light trembled,

"Of course I can, Nero. Follow me." It said and began floating away.

Nero winced,

"Wait, wait. Hold up one minute."

He huffed then rolled to his side.

"I want to get some rest first."

The orb of light flew over to Nero's face,

"But you need to get to the Spire of Dreams quickly, or you'll get eaten."

Nero shrugged as he closed his eyes,

"I'm tired, Icarus."

A huffing sound came from the orb of light as it began hovering over his head.

Meanwhile, Nero tried to turn his consciousness inward.

For a moment, there was darkness...

Then, the world around him fell into a chaos as his consciousness slid deeper into his mind.

Into that strange void of nothing.

Nero slowly opened his eyes.

He turned his gaze up.

Right above him was the familiar construct of the Oracle, spinning and revolving in place just like it always did.

Nero was silent for a moment.

His thoughts were all over the place. In just a single night, a lot had happened and was going to happen.

But he knew when he needed help.

In this case, the thing he needed the most was to understand his current predicament.

The first question he asked was,

"Who is Eli?"

The Oracle was silent for a long time.

Then it said something that made Nero's eyes widen in shock,

{There is no information about that being in the Divine Records}.

Nero was stumped,

"What? How is that possible?"

{The entity the Heretic has encountered might possibly be one of the descendants of the ancient Gryghori— a Nephilim. However, this is not certain because most of the information on the ancient Gryghori and their spawn were wiped away from the records of life and death. They are only known by what they were by the Divine Will, not by what they have become}.

Nero frowned,

"Then that dude might very well be a Nephilim, huh... Certainly doesn't look like one."

He was silent. It didn't make sense. He had always been told that the ancient Gryghori were beings of immense damnation, chaos and evil. Forces of supernature that had brought ruin to the world.

Their existence had been so catastrophic that most of them had to be sealed away. And even then, they were a constant source of calamity to the world.

It was rather terrifying to say the least.

Didn't it make sense that their children would be the same.

According to what he knew, the Nephilim are half human, half divinity.

Nero frowned, 'Could this be the reason?'

Most humans upon conception, were born normal so long as all went well for the most part.

Human children existed as pure existences, vastly resistant to corruption.

Could it be that this feature made it harder for the corruption to seep into their souls?

Unfortunately for Nero, the Oracle quickly cleared up his doubts.

{All Nephilim are born with immense amounts of evil and corruption within them. While they might be partially human, they are also partially fallen Divinity. That essence is far greater than their human essence which completely overrides their more mundane nature. The entity the Heretic just encountered might be an exception, but it is very unlikely}.

Nero sighed...

Then his expression went dark,

"How does he know about me? How does he know about my True Name?"

True names were supposed to be vital, hidden information that wasn't supposed to be easily revealed. Why did some random horror know such vital information?

{The True name of the Heretic is a title that signifies his purpose. When the one true Heretic was born, his birth fulfilled a prophesy. A prophesy of one who is to come. Your name has been known from the beginning and now, till the end. A requiem of a ruined world}.

Nero grimaced,

"So I'm not in danger?"

{Yes and No. The Heretic might be in severe danger}.

'What the hell?!'

{While the name of the Heretic is known far and wide, across the horizon and through the corners of the earth and Hells, his true name cannot be used to call upon his being and essence. However, it does mean that there are several powerful entities that exist in the Hells and on earth that are now very aware of his existence. Moving forward, it will bode well for the Heretic to hide his nature as much as possible}.

Nero grimaced,

'Is that how I got caught by this guy?!'

{Yes}.

'Shit!'

In other words, he had to make sure he hid his true nature even more than before. He frowned.

How was he supposed to do that? How does one hide their nature?

'Do I avoid using Heretic Eyes?'

No. They had been trapped in the strange situation long before he had even thought of using Heretic Eyes.

He came to a realization,

'Could it the Ein Sof?'

He frowned. That had to be it.

If he could better control his energy, then perhaps he could hide his nature.

Suddenly, Nero froze.

His eyes widened...

"So that's it... That's what this was about. Damn it, I'm such an idiot!"
