Yousef pressed a button, and the helmet of his white suit sealed shut. He shot forward like lightning toward the village of Barqa, dodging Jasto's burning rays, weaving between the burning houses, saving children and the wounded. He carried them far away to a safe place, then returned to the village to carry more.
Akira arrived a moment later, appearing in the middle of the burning village. He grabbed an old man, teleported him to safety, and then returned, continuing to save everyone he could. Half an hour of continuous annihilation passed, resulting in the deaths of ten thousand Ghlizan, but Yousef and Akira managed to save thousands after strenuous efforts.
Akira felt that more were being killed than saved. He contacted Yousef.
"You have to stop that bastard! The number of dead is rising, and we can't save everyone at this rate."
"Understood and executing," Yousef replied, carrying a child in his arms, speeding through the flames, leaping over collapsing houses, and dodging obstacles. Yousef placed the child with the rest of the survivors and told them to get clear of the area. He then looked at Jasto from a short distance away, sparks flying from his eyes. He charged toward him at immense speed, aiming a punch with all his might. But he didn't know that Jasto possessed another ability he knew nothing about.
His eyes were genetically modified to see the finest details, which is what allowed him to annihilate villages without leaving a single survivor. He sees his targets perfectly and eliminates anyone who tries to flee. Jasto saw Yousef coming like a streak of lightning. He was surprised for a moment, but then he understood the secret of how some targets had suddenly disappeared from his sight.
Jasto activated the power of his purple eye and saw Yousef's movement with perfect clarity. He stopped channeling the burning thermal energy from his hand and aimed a sweeping kick at the speeding Yousef. Surprised that Jasto could even see him, Yousef barely managed to leap over the foot. He stumbled, colliding with the battalion soldiers behind him, knocking dozens of them down. He rolled over their bodies, spinning, causing more to fall back and collide with those behind them, until they formed a barrier of bodies that stopped his momentum.
His own body was unharmed, but they were injured badly. Yousef stood up, bracing his body, feeling dizzy. He looked at the chaos around him, the bruised and injured men, and noticed that some of them had spotted him and were aiming their rifles at him. Yousef moved quickly, blurring around the soldiers. They began to fire, hitting each other in the confusion.
Jasto screamed at them to stop. He sensed Yousef coming from behind and spun, swinging his arm to knock him down. But Yousef arched his back, passing under Jasto's arm, astonished at how he could be seen and tracked despite his speed. Yousef knew for certain that he had involved himself in a dangerous fight. This man was just as powerful as they were.
Yousef ran. He heard Jasto scream and unleash successive bursts of burning rays from his hand. Yousef sprinted, dodging the beams left and right, but he felt that Jasto was predicting his path, firing rays at the exact spot Yousef was heading before he even got there. Yousef was nearly hit several times and barely avoided the thermal explosions. Sometimes he passed right through them, his suit protecting him from the searing flames. But Jasto focused his attacks around Yousef, herding him from every direction until Yousef grew tense.
Jasto concentrated the rays around him and increased their blast radius. An explosion struck Yousef, throwing him far back and burning part of his suit. The suit's fibers began to recover and regenerate, but Yousef saw several more thermal rays heading his way. He leaped from the ground, dug his feet into the dirt, and shot away.
He heard the Franx soldiers firing their rifles randomly at any spot they thought they saw him. He dashed between them while Jasto intensified his barrage, hitting his own soldiers, who began to fly left and right, begging him to stop. But Jasto was focused, his eyes locked on Yousef's movements, predicting his next destination in a split second and firing his rays.
Then he heard one of the soldiers beside him warn him about killing his own troops. He realized what he had done and stopped his attack, looking at the hundreds of his own soldiers scattered as lifeless corpses and the many destroyed artillery machines. Jasto's brow furrowed, and his veins bulged.
Yousef hid behind a hill, panting, his body trembling as adrenaline flooded his system. He contacted Akira and said, breathless, "I hope that was enough time to get everyone out."
Akira replied, "Not enough. The Franx soldiers are surrounding the village and killing anyone who comes out. But I terrified one of their battalions, wreaked havoc on them until the soldiers fled in fear of this 'ghost' that appears and disappears. I managed to open a gap for the villagers to escape and told them to flee via the northern route, where the soldiers are thin. What's next? Were you able to defeat that bastard?"
Yousef cleared his throat. "He's dangerous. He was able to see me, predict my movements, and nearly caught me several times."
Akira felt a sense of apprehension. "So we retreat?"
Yousef said after thinking hard, "Let's grab some of the Franx soldiers north of the village and pull back. And then..."
Yousef didn't finish his sentence. A voice from right above his head cut him off. "So, you're here. Your suit is strange; I've never seen one like it. What corner of the cosmos did you come from, stranger? And why do you attack me?"
Yousef panicked and moved away quickly, seeing Jasto looking down at him with a terrifying, glowing purple eye. All he could think was: How did he know where I was hiding? How did he find me so fast? Can he move quickly too? So this is the power of the army's second-in-command! This is the power of the generals of the Franx's Third Galactic Army. They are no less powerful than the Enix or my own companions.
Jasto charged after him. A golden light flowed into his feet, making him incredibly fast, though not as fast as Yousef. But the worst part was his eyes, which saw everything with perfect precision.
