Delon hurried toward the direction he intended to go. The sounds of screams, explosions, and terror entered his ears, making him move faster, half running.
When he arrived at the balcony of his house, he looked down. Delon was shocked and immediately fell backward, losing his balance.
"What is happening?"
He caught his breath, stood up again, and this time managed to see what was going on more calmly.
He saw dozens of beasts entering his residence. Dozens, even hundreds of his soldiers had already been defeated by those beasts.
Delon's eyes moved, scanning around. He was sure this was no coincidence. Someone must have led those beasts here. It made no sense for dozens of beasts to appear in the middle of the city.
"Who sent them? Is this…"
Delon's heartbeat grew faster. His face turned pale. It reminded him of the death of his general.
The strongest man in Doomsty City could be killed. The memory of that death filled Delon with fear. His breathing grew heavy.
His legs trembled and almost gave out, but two soldiers quickly held him up. They helped support him.
"Sir! You must not be here!" shouted someone from behind.
Delon turned around and saw one of the commanders of Doomsty City's forces. One of his trusted men.
"I will take you to a safe place."
Delon nodded. "Yes, I'll leave it to you."
They quickly left the area. The commander led the way, and Delon walked in the middle of the formation, surrounded by a dozen soldiers guarding him from every side.
Delon swallowed hard. "What is actually happening?" he asked.
The commander didn't answer immediately. He was silent for a moment, then turned toward Delon. "A young man you once framed seeks revenge. You are his main target," he replied.
Delon frowned. "Hah? Who is that young man? Does he not know that I am the half-brother of an Earl?"
"His name is Crowne. He is the one you falsely accused and who escaped from the underground prison. It seems your plan to make Evans suffer was a wrong decision. It turned against you," the commander explained.
Delon refused to accept those words. "I'm not selfish. Evans deserved it for humiliating me in front of the other nobles. He should even be executed."
"I never said you were selfish, but your decision was wrong. That's all."
"NO! I didn't make any mistake. They are the ones at fault!" Delon shouted firmly.
The commander paused for a few seconds, closed his eyes, then continued walking again. He no longer responded to Delon's words.
Eventually, they arrived at a room. The door was opened immediately, and they entered.
Once inside, the door was tightly shut. Two armed soldiers stood guard in front of it. A moment later, the commander drew his weapon.
Delon stepped back two paces. "You're not thinking of doing something foolish, are you?" he asked. He stepped back again as the commander approached. "You know who I am, don't you?"
The commander nodded. "I know very well, my lord. But our enemy is too strong. If we don't stop this, everyone here, including children and servants who have nothing to do with this, will die as well. I think that's unfair."
"Why should I care? What's wrong if those people die? As long as their deaths can keep me alive, I'm willing to accept that," said Delon firmly.
The commander closed his eyes. His hands clenched tightly, but he restrained himself. He raised his hand, signaling to the soldiers in the room.
"Seize him!" ordered the commander.
Delon immediately stepped back. He shook his head repeatedly. He was not a fighter, so he had no chance of winning against those men.
He kept shaking his head.
"If you do this, your lives will be in danger. You will all be executed for this act," Delon threatened.
The commander nodded. "That will only happen if someone finds out what happened."
Delon's eyes widened. He stumbled back and fell. His face turned pale as he met the commander's gaze. The man's resolve terrified him.
"No. You can't…"
SLASH!
**
Crowne entered Delon's residence. Several soldiers rushed at him. He dodged each strike and countered with his blade.
In just a few movements, all of them were killed.

The notifications appeared every time he killed a soldier. It was like slaying monsters, but somehow different.
Crowne looked up. There was a staircase leading to the upper floor.
"He's probably up there," he said.
He climbed the stairs as more soldiers kept coming, one after another, trying to stop him, but none succeeded. They all ended up as corpses.
Slaaaash!
With one swing, a dozen heads rolled to the ground. They were all dead. Crowne's eyes were sharp, devoid of any emotion.
He kept walking. The anger that had been buried deep within him erupted like a fire burning through his soul.
Nothing could stop Crowne until his goal was achieved — Delon's death.
"You all deserve this," Crowne said with a face full of fury.
Soon after, another group of soldiers arrived. They surrounded Crowne from both sides. Two of them stepped forward, pointing their weapons at him.
"You must stop here, or we will kill you," one of the commanders warned.
Crowne's eyes moved swiftly. He counted the number of enemies encircling him. Once done, he spun his sword.
"Thirty-five men."
He leaned forward, took a deep breath, and...
Woosh!
He vanished. A second later, he appeared in front of one commander. The man gasped, trying to jump back, but it was too late.
Slash!
Split in two.
Blood gushed from the commander's body. The remaining soldiers were horrified. Their eyes widened. Some turned and tried to flee, but it was already too late.

Slash!
Boom!
Blash!
The place was reduced to ruins. Corpses and blood splattered everywhere. Crowne walked through them without any sign of guilt.
[Level Up!]
[Congratulations, you've reached level 50!]
Crowne didn't care. He kept walking because his goal was not yet complete. He found Delon, his target.
