Chapter 83: He's Been Holding Back All Along?

"You're out. Don't shoot at me anymore." he said as he raised his hand, his palm facing the mage as he negated the spell before it could even take shape.

Then, he tapped on his shoulder.

"You're out too."

"Blessings of Strength!!" Kenji yelled, taking the opportunity to buff his whole team.

Amon turned to look at him and smiled, "Good job. Ten points!"

Then he pointed at Patricia, "You didn't take the chance to attack me. Why?"

"If I did, it would have hit the others two too."

"Your damage isn't good enough to kill them. Also, if this was a real fight, they would be dead bodies right now. Would you still hesitate?"

Patricia did not answer. Instead, she raised her staff in an attempt to slow him down, only to fail.

"Ugh!! Why isn't it working!" she complained while Amon just shrugged, keeping an eye on Jordan and Alicia who had caught up to him.

Amon crossed his arms and looked at the group, "Before we continue, I wanna know what you guys learnt from this. Alicia will go last."

"You have a skill that can stop spells from working but you can only stop one at a time." Patrick said as he walked towards him.

"Correct!! Five points! And Kenji took the opportunity. Whether it was through logic or instinct, it doesn't matter as long as it works." Amon said as he patted Kenji's shoulder, "Again, good job."

Jordan raised his hand, "You're way too fast."

"I know and everyone here does at this point. Don't state the obvious." Amon said before shaking his head, "Anything else?"

"You… went for the marksman first because… he is the biggest threat to you? You can stop spells from working and you're faster than everyone here so you're not afraid of close combat. Which means, the only one who can give you trouble is the marksman."

"Ding ding ding! Correct! Okay anyone else?"

No one opened their mouth after this, which made Alicia sigh, "Do you really have to emulate an S ranked dungeon?"

"I've never been to an S ranked dungeon though.. and the books don't tell much either so I'm pretty much clueless." Amon said as he shrugged but he wished to know the answer, "Can you tell me what you meant by emulating an S Ranked dungeon?"

"Until B rank, the monsters in the dungeons can be countered with good communication and team work." Alicia began, "Monsters in the A rank dungeons can understand human language completely. This means you can't really say stuff in the middle of a fight since it won't be as effective.

"To counter the A rank dungeons, the awakened parties create hand signs and various weird sounds to fight against the language comprehension.

"As for S rank… its' the same as fighting against humans. They'll know your language but they'll also be able to form intricate strategies, counter you in the middle of a fight and even get used to the hand signs. They'll start deciphering them after a while, rendering all your preparations useless.

"The headmaster told me that the only way to fight against an S ranked dungeon is to have good battle IQ, experience and good instincts. Running away and suddenly attacking, only to run past the tank to target the healers and mages… this stuff mostly happens in S ranked dungeons."

Amon frowned as he glanced at Patrick and Alicia, "What about using Taunt? It's a great skill to keep the monsters focused on you right?"

"Yes but it mostly just works on dumb monsters. When it comes to intelligent creatures, it's more like a confusion skill. It's effectiveness drops significantly. The monsters have their own taunt skills though… some different than others but most of the times, their taunt skills affects our anger, directing it towards a specific monster."

"I see… this is something I did not know." Amon nodded before he began skipping in place, "So, do you guys think you can beat me? If you give me the right answer, I'll give you five vitality pills."

The first to answer was surprisingly Alicia.

"We can't. After all this, we couldn't even touch you."

Just as Amon nodded, Patricia took a step forward and poked his arm with her finger.

'Cute….' he thought as he looked at her, "What?"

"How are you so fast and deal so much damage at the same time when you're just a D rank like us? That speed you showed when running towards us… it was three times faster than Jordan and his agility stat is at forty."

"Speed doesn't just depend on agility. Agility helps with manoeuvrability, which means dodging attacks, reaction speed and breaking people's ankles like I did with your brother. What helps speed the most, is strength. If you wish to run in a straight line, strength is better than speed."

"Jordan's strength is higher than his speed." Patricia countered, making Amon chuckle.

He shook his head and spoke, "Different classes give different perks. Dual Sword Master allows him to merge the damage stats of both his weapons, effectively making his damage output really strong. Regular classes give various buffs to stats in the name of stat effectiveness. Do you get where I'm trying to go with this?"

Patricia thought for a moment and nodded, "Are you telling me that your class buffs your strength and agility stats by a high margin?"

"It does buff my stats." Amon said instead of directly confirming whether it was agility and strength or something else.

"Alright, even though you guys couldn't beat me, you did well." Amon said as he took out a handful of vitality pills.

"You get five." he said to Kenji as he gave him the pills.

Then he looked at Patricia, "You get three."

The rest got one each, including the marksman and the mage.

"Alright, catch up to me now." Amon said before he leaned forward and turned into a blur.

Everyone's clothes fluttered from the winds formed by Amon's speed and Patricia was the first to speak.

"He… held back against Jordan. Is this is real speed?"
