Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 78: Apologies

"Huuu"

Gasping for air suddenly, Enzo's eyes snapped open as he frantically looked around, noticing the change in environment.

A moment ago, he had been struck by a force so powerful that it nearly caused his heart to give in. This was his human body; it could not compete with his night creature avatar in terms of durability, so he fell unconscious from that attack.

Now he was in a strange white room, on what seemed to be a hospital bed all of a sudden.

"You're awake. That's good," a familiar voice suddenly resounded next to Enzo, instantly drawing his attention.

"Master White," Enzo greeted with a bitter smile on his face as he recognized the person beside him. He had caused some trouble and probably dragged Master White from his office to settle it.

"How are you feeling now?" Master White asked with an unnatural grin on his face. Lord knows what Enzo had done to receive a palm strike from Vice Regent Seth.

The boy really had a bad temper towards authority and rules, it seemed.

"I'm doing…" As Enzo was about to respond, a clicking sound came from the door as a young man with white hair poked his head into the infirmary.

"Is he awake now?" the young man asked as he looked right at Master White.

"You have eyes for a reason; just come in." Master White was a bit pissed off, so he spoke in a rather blunt tone, forcing the young man to smile bitterly and enter the room.

"Good day, friend Malvaran." The young man was tall, had short white hair reminiscent of a buzz cut, and also had a long robe of the same color on.

"This is Titus Snowfall. He's the current leader of House Snowfall," Master White introduced casually.

"Yes, my name is Titus. How is your health today, friend?" Titus spoke rather calmly with some embarrassment. When they spoke of leader, they meant he was the overall leader of the club, not just an overseer of a particular year.

"You don't have to answer that, kid." Master White tapped Enzo on the shoulder and looked back at Titus.

"Say what you came here to say."

Master White was clearly not playing at this particular moment.

"Oh yes, sorry, senior. I am here to apologize on behalf of House Snowfall for the incident with your friends and my subordinates. Our relationship with Master White and his students is a sacred bond to us that we can't see broken," Titus spoke, tempered and with a tinge of respect.

Actually, he had said over and over again that this had nothing to do with him. He was literally about to graduate, but Master White had dragged him here by the ear, giving him no choice.

'Those shitheads, I'll make sure they pay one hundredfold for this embarrassment they put me through,' he cursed in his mind.

"The perpetrators are currently being punished by the club, so I implore you to forgive them as we seek a cordial relationship with you and your people."

Fighting against Master White, a higher-level member of the club, was ill-advised, especially for him as he transitioned into the upper echelons of the institute.

"Okay. They stole around 350 years of lifespan from my friends; I hope the House of Snowfall can be magnanimous and return it. After that, we will be all squared." Enzo, understanding what was going on, spoke calmly and billed Titus for the injustice his subordinates had faced.

"350 years? That's… not what she told me." Titus squinted his eyebrows for a second, then sighed. Enzo was trying to extort them.

'They'll just have to pay from the project fund.'

Titus concluded in his mind, seeing no other way out. Aside from not offending Master White, this Great Star issue was not something they wanted to be associated with at all.

"I'll have my people contact your people." Titus nodded, then turned to Master White to bow. He hoped that this matter would be closed now, but something told him it was far from over.

'Sigh, I just want to graduate in peace,' Titus felt bad, then turned around to leave.

Meanwhile,

"You can rest here for a while; I have other things to do."

After seeing Titus leave, Master White stood up and dusted his clothes. He hoped that Enzo would not have any more troubles with the House of Snowfall for the time being, as he would be out on a mission soon.

"Wait," Enzo called out to Master White, making him pause.

"I'd like to apply for external assistance from an exalted weaver for my project. I was going to come see you yesterday before everything happened." Enzo reached for his uniform pocket on the rack beside the bed and pulled out a written letter.

"Oh? Vegar underwent a voyage recently?" Master White was taken aback, a frown evident on his face.

This mission had been on the project list for three sessions, and no one had succeeded in completing it. They were even considering removing it soon. But if an exalted weaver could be involved, then maybe…

"The institute will have to verify that he has actually advanced before approving the use of an external mercenary. It'll take at most a week, so you'll have to wait." Master White took the application and nodded.

If Enzo could complete this mission, then his House of Darkness would gain a bit of clout in the coming years. This was a good thing.

"That's okay. We still need to make some more preparations before going forward. We can wait," Enzo nodded, expecting that answer.

They had a plan, and it was in its final stages. This delay was really nothing in the grand scheme of things.

"Okay, I'll file it today." Master White proceeded to walk to the door, but before closing it completely—

"Try visiting your family in your free time. Your younger brothers have been asking about you nonstop," he said before closing the door.
