Death System: I awakened SSS rank System

Chapter 58: Rock Monsters

Sera and Myia surged forward inside the swirling poison bubble, the toxic sphere cutting across the endless, shimmering wasteland with frightening speed.

The sun above bore down harshly, its heat clashing with the cold air brushing their skin. For long moments neither of them spoke, their eyes fixed ahead, as though sheer determination could force the horizon to come closer.

But soon enough, the bubble slowed, and Sera narrowed her eyes. Something felt wrong.

The wasteland stretched the same way it had before, but when the poisonous veil peeled back and the two of them stepped out, Myia froze. Her lips trembled slightly.

"Sera… this place…"

Sera clenched her fists, her gaze sweeping the land. The cracked rocks, the swirling hot wind, even the same broken pillar they had passed earlier. It was all there no single change . Her stomach dropped. Fear coarsed through her spines.

"We're back where we started."Myia muttered in terror.

Silence fell for a moment, broken only by the whispering gusts of dry wind. Myia's hands shook as she pointed around them, her breathing shallow.

"That's impossible. We went straight ahead… we never turned back."

Sera clicked her tongue and spat bitterly. "A loop. We've been walking right into a trap. Those bastards must have set this up from the start. How on can we get out of this forsaken place. It a trap from the start. That was why they didn't bother putting anyone to watch us. We in some kind of spherical orb that has no end." Then she sighed. Myia stared on to try to notice any visible change.

Before Myia could take a step, the ground beneath them trembled violently. Small cracks spiderwebbed across the dry earth, spreading with deep booms.

Then, with a deafening crash, jagged boulders split apart, and something massive began clawing its way free.

From beneath the stone rose creatures made of rock, hulking creatures with jagged edges and glowing orange lines running through their bodies like molten veins. Their eyes blazed with a cruel, mindless fury. One appeared, then another, then five more. Soon the vicinity was filled up with the sound of stone grinding against stone.

Myia stumbled back, clutching herself and falling on the ground in fear. "There are… so many."

Sera's lips curved into a dangerous grin, her purple eyes flickering with venomous light. "Finally. Something to vent on."

"What? What the heck do you—" Myia muttered but Sera shot her a glance. One that told of her desire to fight.

With a swift motion, she raised her hands, summoning a swirling mist of green-black poison. The toxic vapor spread outward, sizzling against the hot wind, and the nearest rock monster let out a guttural roar as the poison corroded its stony surface.

"Stay close to me, healer. You'll need to patch me up when I burn myself out." Sera hissed, then lunged forward like a shadow.

The first golem swung its massive arm, a boulder-sized fist crashing down. Sera rolled aside, her palm releasing a condensed blast of venom that splashed across the monster's torso.

The sizzling hiss grew louder, and within seconds cracks spread across the golem's chest before it exploded into molten rocks and debris.

Another rushed her from the side, but Sera spun, her poison forming into sharp whips that lashed across its arms, melting through the hardened rock.

Myia knelt a short distance away, waving her hands softly. Her hands glowing as a gentle green aura spread. Whenever Sera's breath hitched or her knees wavered from the strain of her system's backlash, Myia's magic washed over her, restoring her stamina and closing the tiny burns the poison left on Sera's own skin.

"You're reckless, Sera!" Myia cried out, lifting her arm just as a third rock monster hurled a chunk of stone toward them. She raised a barrier in time, the rock shattering against it.

"If you keep pushing your system like that, you'll poison yourself!" Myia cried out while wondering why her poison burnt her in person.

Sera spat blood to the side, laughing bitterly. "Yah. I know but I've got a pretty healer on my side. Now I understand General Lemon's words on Offensive Player. Now shut up and keep me alive!" Sera rattled.

Her hands clapped together, and suddenly a massive wave of poisonous sludge surged forward, crashing into three golems at once.

The rock monsters staggered and shrieked in guttural tones as the venom melted through their rocky hides, turning them into piles of rubble.

But the monsters kept coming. Ten more emerged from the ground, their glowing veins pulsing brighter, as if the wasteland itself was birthing them endlessly.

Myia's breath caught. "There's no end to them! How?! It seems like they are being summoned or something!!"

"Then we'll keep killing until there is none left." Sera growled, her aura flaring violently and charged in again.

The battlefield became a storm of green poison and burning stone. Sera's figure blurred through the chaos, her whips of venom slicing limbs off rock monsters.

Her clouds of poison suffocating them until they cracked apart. Myia's healing light flashed behind her, each glow pulling Sera back from collapse, keeping her on her feet long enough to strike again.

Still, for every monster that fell, another clawed its way free. The arena was echoing now with the roars of the rock legion. It was now flooded with rock monsters. The ground shook violently with their endless emergence.

"Damn. What the hell is?! They seem to be bunch of D rank creatures. There are too numerous." Myia muttered lightly as her energy began to drain rapidly.

"Yah. Let's keep pushing. There has to be a limit." Sera muttered and dived forward again but she fell in an instant. Her limbs failing to carry her forward.

"Damn! Myia!! Why aren't you—" she looked backwards and went dumb. The rock monsters had gathered round Myia in a circular format.

"Fuck! I forgot that they could come in all directions. I don't have enough energy to charge again. Her healing magic is the main catalyst that kept me going. Now my body is beginning to bleed out of the excessive work out." Sera cursed and slammed her fist on the ground.

She tried to move but a rock monster stamped its foot against her head knocking her out in an instant.
