The sword tip almost pierced through the skull; another fraction of an inch, and it would have damaged the brain, but Shi Feiyang held his sword at just the right moment and, with a leg swing, rewarded each of the bald monks with a kick, sending them flying.
The two bald monks rolled up from the ground, wiped their foreheads with their hands, grew fiercely angry, and with a loud roar, they each brandished a knife and sword, ready to charge again.
Shi Feiyang, holding nine Flying Needles in his left hand, threw them swiftly. Each of the bald monks received four and five needles respectively, all pinned in the center of their foreheads.
Their rush to attack came to an abrupt halt; then their knives and swords fell to the ground as they both kneeled over, their eyes widened with shock.
The Poison Needles automatically discharged poison, and the men's faces instantly turned blue, before the color spread down to their necks. Once the poison reached their hearts, the men both fell to the ground, dead.
Shi Feiyang turned around and spoke to the Five Dragon Envoys, "The skills of your Divine Dragon Sect aren't that impressive after all, although they're indeed quite malicious."
The Azure Dragon Envoy recited incantations again and the nine Flying Needles, shaking slightly, finally reestablished their connection to him, "swoosh, swoosh, swoosh," pulling free from the two monks' foreheads, flying back to his hand.
He examined the needles fondly, puzzled about why they hadn't worked earlier.
The Yellow Dragon Envoy stared at Shi Feiyang and asked sternly, "Do you also know spells?"
"I've collected several fragments of the Purple Ying Immortal Scripture, of course I know a little," Shi Feiyang replied. Then he inquired, "What about you? How many Immortal Scripture Fragments have you collected?"
The Black Dragon Envoy, who had been sullen all along, spoke coldly now, "We've just obtained five fragments from elsewhere and are about to deliver them to the Main Altar. If you have the ability, kill us and take them!"
"That's great!" Shi Feiyang laughed, "In this way, I'll save myself the trouble of collecting them one by one, and even spare the offense of doing it."
The Yellow Dragon Envoy shouted loudly, "Set the Array! Five Dragons encircle the ground, Divine Dragons soar to the heavens!"
The five of them performed hand seals simultaneously, and from within their sleeves, a five-colored smoke emerged.
"Be careful, that smoke is poisonous..." Jiang Weiyu couldn't help but warn.
Shi Feiyang waved his sleeve with his left hand, sending a gust of Gang Wind that moved him and Pan Xiuhu straight into the cave, while he observed the movements of the others with his sword drawn, "Hmm, it's a Five Elements Formation."
The Five Dragon Envoys hurried forward to surround him, each holding a staff, sword, ring, knife, and hook, five different weapons in hand. Ten eyes quietly watched Shi Feiyang, like poisonous snakes eyeing their prey. They chanted spells rapidly, and the colorful Poison Smoke from their bodies grew denser, merging into one and forming an ensnaring formation around Shi Feiyang.
As the Yellow Dragon Envoy gave a loud cry, all five of them struck at once, weapons whirling in attack, knives and swords linked, hooks and rings coordinating, staves smashing, swords cutting—all in flawless unison.
Shi Feiyang had already seen the key to this formation and preemptively took control of the critical spot... Such an Array, compared to complex Immortal Arrays, was child's play, not even on the same level, with all its variations being fairly simplistic. Even though their Array was supplemented with spells, that was about all it offered.
With a treasure sword in hand and coordinated steps, in just a few maneuvers, Shi Feiyang stepped out of their Array, then looked back at the Five Dragon Envoys with shocked expressions, "Your formation isn't all that great either, too many holes!" Having said that, he charged back and reentered the Array.
The Five Dragon Envoys clenched their teeth tightly and rallied their spirits, trying to trap Shi Feiyang. But again, he broke out from another side.
The Yellow Dragon Envoy gathered his Inner Force and secretly communicated with the other four; their Array rolled over once more, enveloping Shi Feiyang in its midst, and this time they all released their own Flying Needles.
Azure, red, yellow, white, black—the Azure Dragon Needle had nine, the Red Dragon Needle three, the White Dragon Needle seven, the Black Dragon Needle five, and the Yellow Dragon Needle one.
This conformed to the Daoist concept of the Eastern Nine Energies, Southern Three Energies, Western Seven Energies, Northern Five Energies, and Central Single Energy. Originally, each was ruled by Divine Monarchs, and within their sect, they worshipped and commanded five ancient snake deities over three thousand years old.
The Flying Needles weaved through the formation, their display combining with the smokes to reveal images of serpentine bodies.
Shi Feiyang's face became serious, "This Divine Dragon Sect does have some substance, after all."
