The Demon Sword Shi Feiyang had not yet undergone sacrificial refinement, unlike the other nine swords; it simply stayed by his side, and it could escape at any time if it wished to.
However, he knew very well that no matter where he fled, unless he reached another world, no corner of this world could hide him from Shi Feiyang, who would inevitably find him and destroy him.
Unless he found a highly skilled Daoist practitioner who did not fear Shi Feiyang to take him under their protection.
If that were the case, why would he not simply stay with Shi Feiyang? Shi Feiyang was emotionally stable, good-tempered, and spoke kindly to everyone; the Demon Sword felt very comfortable by his side.
Shi Feiyang was not worried about it sneaking off, and the sword had no such plans. At Shi Feiyang's command, it flew into the air, transforming into a faint red glow, and in a flash, it was gone.
The Demon Sword did not directly enter Chenwei Village upon arrival; Xiang Jiu arranged many prohibitions around the village for ambush. If it flew directly in, it would be discovered. Instead, it fell to the ground at the village's entrance and was picked up by a villager, who brought it to the village chief, Chen Changtai.
Seeing the sword gleam with a lusterless red light and unparalleled sharpness, making light work of chopping a corner off a stone table, Chen Changtai was overjoyed.
He too was a martial artist who loved swords, known as the Soul-Pursuing Great Year. He found a young apprentice, fashioned a scabbard for the sword, and carried it by his side, heading west of the village to watch Xiang Jiu practice her casting.
Xiang Jiu had buried Bai Qi and Li Zhenchuan underground, leaving only their heads exposed, forced them to swallow medicine pills, and placed talisman paper on their foreheads.
Their pits were located right behind Lv Xianming.
Xiang Jiu commanded Lv Xianming to jump back in and continue his practice, but he refused. Xiang Jiu cast spells from a distance, tapping twice on him, and the two white eyebrow needles began to move again, attacking his heart meridian.
Lv Xianming had no choice but to jump back into the pit.
Xiang Jiu had people bury Lv Xianming as well and then she began to cast her spells. She was going to refine all three of them into Zombies, into Taiyin Flying Corpses. Although not Demons, they were close to it, capable of flying and burrowing, omnipotent, and immune to damage from swords, lightning, and thunder.
She was fully immersed in executing the supreme Great Technique of the Pima Sect here, with wisps of greyish-white Corpse Qi emanating from her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose.
The complexions of Lv Xianming, Li Zhenchuan, and Bai Qi rapidly lost their color, turning corpse-like pallid, and then shifting towards a bluish-purple hue.
Sensing that the lifeforce of Li Zhenchuan and Bai Qi was about to dissipate, the Demon Sword knew it was time to take action.
It subtly influenced Xiang Jiu's consciousness. As Xiang Jiu devotedly cast and refined, believing she had set up the Taiyin Soul Refining Formation outside to protect the entire village and would know if an enemy approached, she was unaware that the Demon Sword had already arrived by her side. At first, it only slightly affected her awareness, but gradually it intensified, like a frog being boiled in warm water. After half a day of casting by Xiang Jiu, she was completely demonized, under the control of the Demon Sword, and unable to wake up.
She cast faster and faster, continuously emitting Taiyin Corpse Qi, beside the fires in the moonlight, she appeared like a dancing specter.
Suddenly, she shouted loudly, formed a hand seal, and bent down to slap the ground. The earth in front of her split open, forming a pit which she jumped into, only her head remaining visible as the ground closed back up, trapping her.
In the pit, she continued casting, attempting to refine herself into a Zombie!
More than two hours passed, and the Demon Sword sensed that her demonization was deep, fully under its control. Then it leapt out from the scabbard, shooting out two beams of Buddha Light towards Li Zhenchuan and Bai Qi.
Those two were already at death's door, and hit by the Buddha Light on their foreheads, they quickly regained consciousness, but their bodies were stiff, unable to move in the slightest.
The Demon Sword infused into their minds with the Buddha Light: "The master sent me to rescue you. He said that although you have this calamity, you must not lose heart. He instructed you to cultivate in this pit."
It directly injected into their minds a Cultivation Technique, a method that used Moonlight Earth Evil to exhaust Yin and give rise to Yang, somewhat similar to how Shi Feiyang had consumed Green Spirit Grass to harmonize Yin Yang long ago.
Shi Feiyang loved using adversity to forge ahead, and now he wanted his two disciples to cultivate using this method. If they could weather this ordeal, their skills would take a great leap forward, and Shi Feiyang would grant them each a Flying Sword, henceforth ushering them into the ranks of Sword Immortals. If they couldn't endure it, the Demon Sword would pull them back at the last moment before they turned into Zombies, and they would remain martial artists forever, forsaking the path of Immortality.
Having completed these tasks, the Demon Sword circled the pits of corpses, flying round after round, and imprinted numerous Demon Talismans into their minds.
Chen Changtai and the other onlookers thought Xiang Jiu was continuing her Cultivation, entirely unaware of what was happening.
Not until Han'er undid the Evil Skill on her and came to see Xiang Jiu and the others buried underground did she attempt to kill them, but she was stopped by the Demon Sword.
Han'er, hearing the Demon Sword's explanation of Shi Feiyang's plans, was quite curious, so she stayed to watch.
Just over a month later, at the time of the full moon, Xiang Jiu and Lv Xianming burst from the ground, both of them having become Zombies!
Xiang Jiu had hair disheveled, her face a ghastly iron-blue, with fangs growing from her mouth and nails half a foot long. She howled at the Moon, while Lv Xianming issued a Zombie roar by her side.
The Demon Sword fluttered before them both, and with a gentle wave, they bowed down in submission. Throughout their transformation into Zombies, the Demon Sword had inscribed numerous seals of the Demon Path in their minds. Now both were underlings of the Demon Sword, fully obedient to its command.
