Infinite Providence: The First Legendary Death Supreme!

Chapter 109: Unexpected!

At first, everybody expected the elders to come down and start the tournament and for the disciples to start fighting, but in an unexpected turn of events, the disciples all sat cross-legged.

"Huh, why are they not fighting?" Someone asked.

"I don't know; maybe things are different from what we thought."

"Yeah, it seems they'll have some kind of virtual fight, unlike what we thought." One of the disciples pointed at a spirit display that had just shown up.

Turns out that everything they thought was going to happen was, in a way, false, and now, the actual fight was going to happen in a semi-battle royale form.

They'll be launched in a world similar to that of the Ascension Tower, and then they'll fight it out there the same way they would in the arena, but due to the impossibility of doing so in such a limited space, despite how large it looked, they made it easier.

Still, as the disciple watched, they couldn't help but think that for them, the new batch of outer sect disciples who were so large in number...

This wasn't really the best place to fight.

It was previously mentioned that when a recruitment happened, everyone from all sides of the land sent their children, slaves, and dogs to attend.

And sometimes, the people themselves move, alongside their children, due to the large duration between each recruitment.

As funny as it seemed, it was a very likely possibility for an entire family to be recruited, but that was still... not a normal possibility.

Within the arena the disciples, who were sitting and waiting for the formation to pull their consciousness into whatever world they were going to fight in, felt something bright hit their eyes.

Their numbers were far lower than that of Lu's batch, not to mention Ken's.

With the difficulty of the tasks increasing each year and disciples either becoming inner disciples or later on retiring and going down to the mortal world to live a normal life.

By the time two batches come in, they're barely a few hundred to a thousand.

Now imagine Ken's batch, which was still at its peak numbers, possibly having more than dozens of thousands of disciples.

All of them were here without exception, as missions were stopped far earlier to make sure everybody was here due to the importance of this event.

Thus, if one isn't dead, you'll find them either already in the arena or on their way to the arena.

*Fwshh*

In front of the entire body of outer sect disciples, the formation beneath the feet of the 3rd batch disciples flashed and scanned their bodies before they remained still, not moving as if they all fell unconscious.

And on the other hand, on the display that was there for everybody to watch, bodies of disciples started flashing by and appearing.

On top of their head was a large number ticking down, possibly the countdown for the start of their fight.

It started from 30 and was going down as we speak.

29, 28, 27... 23... 15... 10... 3, 2, 1!

And the great battle started.

The distance between each disciple was a calculated 5 meters; thus, one could take one disciple at a time, and by the end, when there were only 20 left, the test would start.

And Ken had to be honest, Adam's batch was heartless; the second the countdown was finished, the heads of the weak and unprepared started flying everywhere.

Adam himself was present, and the man was using a blade as a weapon alongside his wife and heartlessly cutting down everyone present until 10 minutes passed and only he, alongside some of his comrades and the current top 10, was present.

That had gone faster than everybody anticipated, and worse, it was utterly brutal.

The disciples act as if they could care less about giving a chance to someone else, or maybe understanding the importance of such a chance killed everything that moved.

Whether girl or boy, in such an environment where sometimes you had to fight for opportunities, yesterday's party companion could turn out to be your enemy today.

But nobody held a grudge.

They didn't die for real, and they knew that they would have done the same, and in a real-life situation they wouldn't really act the same way.

In different situations, especially one ruled by culture and solid morality unblemished through the years, you'd give a former comrade the most honorable death even if they were to betray you.

That was that, and now, the first battle had ended, and it was time for Lu's batch to step forward.

And the same thing happened once again without exception; however, the number of disciples was many, many times more than Adam's batch.

Thus, the time it took to end the battle was longer, and it was in part also due to the weaker power.

Lu and his staff friends had unfortunately all died without exception, and they had to take that blow to their heart and live their life with it when they saw their former companions shoot up to the stars from this single event.

But they couldn't change it now even if they wanted to and had to live with it.

Thus, after almost an hour of fighting, the second battle ended, and now, it was time for Ken's batch to take the stage.

The elders were only making sure the formations were working and had so far not moved an inch.

Thus, even when the entirety of Lu's batch got up and left, the stage and Ken with his batch took it; they didn't move.

Following the same steps, but due to their large number, they had to get much closer to each other, and their sheer collective figure encompassed the entire arena.

For obvious reasons, the ladies and the men were separated on both halves of the massive arena, and when the tournament started, they found themselves in a massive grassland without any land imperfections... the countdown started going down.

------End------
