There's Absolutely No Problem With The Magic Cards I Made!

Ch. 9

Chapter 9. Cornelia Began to Get Better at Communicating

The next day, the students who had passed the exam could already start moving into the dormitories.

Before dawn, I got up, packed my luggage, and began moving things into the academy. I didn’t want to line up in a long queue. Better to finish setting up the dorm early while everyone else was still sleeping in!

After collecting my student ID and uniform at the Knight Faculty’s service building, I headed straight to the dormitory.

The student dorms of the Knight Faculty were housed in a towering building that looked unbelievable. I couldn’t help but study it carefully. Surely my room would also be huge.

That thought made me look forward to it.

I eagerly walked over to the management office in front of the dormitory.

“Hello, I’d like to move into the dormitory.”

“Please show your student ID.”

After a simple verification, the administrator handed me a set of keys with a tag.

“This is your key. The first floor of the dormitory is the cafeteria, the second floor is the shop, the third floor is the common lounge, the fourth through ninth floors are the dorm rooms, and the tenth floor is the observatory. Male students enter from the left stairway on the third floor, female students from the right stairway…”

“Wait! Why are you telling me how to get to the girls’ dorm?”

“I thought students your age might be interested. If not, I’ll leave it.”

“No, no, please continue. A scholar values finishing what is started.”

“...”

The administrator fell silent for a few seconds. Which idiot in the Knight Faculty actually cared about studying? But he still explained, “After registering at the management office, you may visit the girls’ dorm. The same goes for the other three faculties’ dorms. However, if you get reported, you’ll likely lose this privilege…”

“Thank you. I wish you a beautiful day.”

After thanking the administrator, I started carrying my luggage in. Without lingering on the first three floors, I went straight to the fourth floor, which looked like a hotel.

“Fourth floor… Room 404.”

Looking at the tag, I searched for the door.

This number actually felt pretty lucky.

After finding my dorm, I immediately hauled my luggage inside.

The moving process was exhausting. I had to rest on the sofa for a bit to catch my breath.

But I decided to start organizing right away. Better than procrastinating.

I looked around my new place. Warm tones, a European style with a touch of vintage.

Sunlight poured in through the windows, and the balcony had green plants and flowers, giving the whole dorm a lively feel. Inside were four main areas.

Past the entryway was a spacious living room, connected to a bedroom, bathroom, and storage room.

The furniture was complete, with ample storage space.

After a quick look at the bedroom and bathroom, I checked out the storage room.

This storage room gave students many possibilities.

They could turn it into a study, a training room, or just a warehouse.

I examined the spacious room.

I decided I would turn it into my own small workshop. After all, I was going to be a master of magic card-making!

......

Organizing went very smoothly, and by the morning I had already finished everything.

I rubbed my stomach—maybe because of the work, I felt a bit hungry before noon.

“Hmm, what should I have for lunch?”

“I’ll go ask Teresia for a recommendation.”

I trusted Teresia’s food picks more these days.

The meals on our way to the capital, and that bakery she liked, all matched my taste perfectly.

“She’s in the Mage Faculty—it’s time I visited the girls’ dorm.”

Just as I was about to head out to find Teresia—Knock knock!

The door to Room 404 was being knocked on.

“Coming, coming.” Who would be knocking at this hour? Maybe a neighbor coming to say hello?

Or maybe Teresia had thought the same thing as me?

I jogged over and opened the door.

A red-haired girl filled my vision.

I quickly shut the door, then opened it again. The same red-haired girl stood outside. On the very first day of moving into the dorm, a gorgeous girl had come to visit me—this should’ve been great news.

But…I glanced at my door panel, and my pupils shrank.

On the corridor side, the wood was visibly dented in!

Your knocking was basically intimidation!

Though I felt a bit afraid, I quickly guessed her identity.

Teresia had mentioned her before.

During this year’s Knight Faculty entrance exam, there had been another special pass candidate: Cornelia.

She had defeated a fourth-tier examiner head-on, causing quite the stir in the observation hall.

This terrifying brute strength—it could only be her. But why… was she here for me?

Was it because I’d stolen her first place, and she wanted trouble?

My expression grew tense. But Cornelia, as if sensing what I was thinking, said, “Don’t… Don't worry, I… I’m not here… to cause trouble.”

“Then why are you here?”

I sighed in relief.

This girl’s strength was on par with a fourth-tier, and they said she fought like a berserker.

Even knowing about sixty-fold pain feedback, she’d still throw a punch without hesitation.

If she smashed her fist down, I’d probably be reduced to a five-kilogram meat patty.

“Fight… f-fight me… just once.”

Cornelia was a foreigner, not very fluent in the Norton Kingdom’s language.

She struggled for a long time to finish one sentence, clearly embarrassed.

“No way!”

After listening with difficulty, my face turned pale and I refused without hesitation.

Cornelia: “Why…”

Me: “I’d lose.”

Before she even finished, I cut her off.

It was the first time I’d found listening to someone speak so torturous. By the time she finished, my blood pressure would’ve burst.

Cornelia looked surprised. She seemed to gather her courage and tried another word: “Know?” How do you know you’d lose?

I answered, “My head-on combat power is weak.”

“...”

Cornelia realized—even if she only said one or two words, I could still understand her meaning!

Amazing. There really was someone in this world who was so easy to communicate with!

Cornelia: “Understand?” Do you really get me talking like this?

Me: “I get it.”

Our communication gradually became smoother.

Cornelia: “Spar?” Can’t we really just spar a little?

Me: “No.”

You came to the boys’ dorm for this? That was pushing it.

Cornelia’s eyes dimmed slightly, her head drooping.

She looked at me with a hint of resentment, then walked away dejectedly.

“Phew—” I let out a long breath.

Spar with her? Never mind whether Cornelia could endure pain feedback.

If we fought without Phantom Canyon, I’d definitely die!

Even though I was a master of playing weak, I’d never dare provoke a berserker!

If the two of us fought for real, it would only end in mutual destruction.

Fortunately, Cornelia was reasonable—otherwise, there would’ve been a bloody dorm tragedy today.

Her visit left me with lingering fear…
