Chapter 16. Dekan Start Playing Dirty
After receiving the answer sheet with the answers written on it, Cornelia didn't hesitate for long. I saw her directly raise her hand, signaling to the proctor that she wanted to turn in her paper.
Not just the other challengers, but even the demon students looked at her in shock.
The exam had only started a little over ten minutes ago, and she already wanted to turn in her paper?
However, from what I could see, Cornelia wasn't flustered at all; in fact, she seemed a little delighted. It was as if she'd never had such an experience, a day when she could actually turn in her paper early.
The two proctors noticed her signal at the first moment and almost simultaneously wanted to walk towards her.
The one with the fiercer face was closer to Cornelia.
Seeing this, the other could only click his tongue and gave up on coming to collect the paper.
The proctor walked to Cornelia's desk, abruptly snatched her paper, and inspected it with a savage grin. It was clear he thought he could kill this little demon right away.
In this school, no student could finish this test paper in just over ten minutes.
Turning in the paper this early, what was it if not seeking death?
Of course.
He still had to go through the motions. After all, he had to determine that the examinee's paper scored less than 60 points before he could justifiably kill her. Otherwise, he would violate the rules and trigger the principal's killing intent. The principal was also eyeing the proctors covetously.
However, as he looked at the exam paper, the proctor gradually frowned, looking as if he was doubting his own life.
Multiple-choice questions... right, right, right, right...
Did she really guess every single one correctly?
Hiss...
The open-ended questions... were also more or less correct?
Could it be that in this world, there really were academic gods?
Not only did she pass, but she also got 90 points!
What the hell.
"Tsk! You can go."
The proctor put away the exam paper, not bothering to hide the annoyance on his face. But the rules could not be violated; as the first to submit the paper and get a high score, he needed to give this student a reward.
He took out a red ticket printed with a demon silhouette from his pocket and threw it onto Cornelia's desk.
Without explaining what this ticket was for, the proctor walked away and resumed his patrol. It was obvious he was too angry to speak. The cooked duck had flown away, leaving him exceptionally depressed.
Cornelia picked up the ticket and happily left the examination hall. Along the way, her little dragon tail wagged unconsciously. Then, following my instructions, she waited for me outside the examination hall.
She looked at ease. Having a teammate who was good at studying really seemed to put her at ease.
...
Although I had been writing furiously, I had noticed the attitude of the two proctors when they collected the paper just now.
They had both initially determined that an examinee turning in their paper so early was an act of suicide.
And they were both eager to slaughter the examinees. They wanted to rush over to collect the paper and then kill the examinee with their own hands.
A smile crept onto the corner of my lips.
I was right, Cornelia's paper submission process had helped me verify all my conjectures.
It seemed these two demons could be thoroughly played with.
Cornelia was already safe, and my test paper was also finished.
Now, I could act without any scruples.
I decided to temporarily call the two proctors Lion and Goat.
One of them had a rather terrifying face, while the other looked more gentle and refined, with goat horns.
I knew that Lion's moving speed was 1.25 times that of Goat.
Both proctors could interrupt their fixed patrol routes upon seeing an examinee voluntarily turn in their paper, deciding whether to walk towards the examinee to collect it. And their walking speed would not change.
So...
If I raised my hand to turn in the paper at the exact moment when the distance between Lion and myself was 1.25 times the distance between Goat and myself.
Could I make them arrive at the same time?
Hoho, worth a try.
I placed my exam paper face down on the desk to prevent the proctors from seeing my accuracy at a glance later.
After waiting a short while and grasping the distance between the two proctors, I raised my hand to signal that I was turning in my paper.
As I expected, this time neither of the two proctors gave up!
They walked towards me from two different directions!
Just as I had estimated, the two proctors arrived at the same time!
Both Lion and Goat fiercely reached out and grabbed my test paper.
They glared at each other, seemingly trying their best to restrain their emotions.
However, neither had any intention of letting go, resulting in a stalemate.
"Who are you going to give it to?"
Both proctors looked at me and asked in unison.
In their hearts, they were somewhat suspicious that I might also be an academic god. In that case, fighting over my exam paper would be a bit of a bad deal. They had originally imagined that my expression would be as confident as the girl who had turned in her paper ten minutes ago.
But, they saw faint tear stains at the corner of my eyes.
My eyes held three parts sorrow and seven parts composure.
It was a feeling of having seen through life and death, of great enlightenment, of unity between man and nature.
It seemed I really didn't know how to answer a single question and was turning in my paper only for liberation.
I raised my head with a bitter smile and looked at the two proctors.
"To die at the hands of powerful demons is my only wish now."
My expression was very much like I was saying, "Isn't this also good?".
Good kid, a plump piece of meat!
This convinced both proctors that this captured prey absolutely could not be let go easily!
Lion and Goat's gazes quickly shifted to each other, a cold smile on their faces.
"You let go."
"You should be the one to let go."
"Don't tell me you think you're stronger than me?"
"You want to try?"
The conversation between the two proctors was full of gunpowder.
Lion even cracked his neck, and the popping sound made the surrounding examinees tremble.
The entire classroom, which wasn't too bright to begin with, seemed to be shrouded by a layer of dark, oppressive clouds, clouds that felt like they could devour everything in sight at any moment.
My expression did not change.
My hand behind my back secretly took out a Spell Card.
【Mental Interference】
【Category: Spell Card】
【Grade: Purple Rare】
【Tier: 2】
【Effect: Interfere with the target's mind, affecting their actions for a very brief period. It has no effect on targets with a large disparity in mental attributes, and the stronger the opponent's mind, the greater the mana consumption.】
【Remark: Sorry!】
I decisively activated Mental Interference, directing Lion to throw a punch at Goat's face.
"Son of a bitch! You're starting a fight, are you!"
"I... I f***, you think I'm scared of you?"
Lion was originally about to explain, but Goat unhesitatingly retaliated with a punch to Lion's face, causing Lion's anger to erupt as well.
"Watch me f***ing kill you!!"
"I've disliked you for a long time! Today, I'll start with you!"
The two demons seemed to have lost their minds, fighting each other to the death.
They completely forgot about their duties.
The students around who didn't manage to dodge in time were caught in the crossfire one by one; some were sent flying, while others were killed on the spot. Many desks and chairs were smashed into pieces, and bright red blood stained the originally dark walls.
The battle between the two proctors was extremely brutal, not just a fight of pure strength and spells, but also a spiritual struggle, a desire to completely destroy and overwhelm the other. They bit and tore at each other's bodies, even devouring each other's flesh and blood.
For a time, demon blood flowed all over the floor, and waves of shrill screams came from the examination hall, which was filled with the thick smell of blood.
I had already started running the moment I activated the 【Mental Interference】 Spell Card.
"Run!"
I had long confirmed that Cornelia was the only challenger near me, and the proctors' fight would not affect other challengers for a short time.
Although they didn't know what was happening, the survival instinct also made the demon examinees and other challengers run like mad towards the main gate. And the two proctors were already lost in their frenzy, not paying any attention to the examinees fleeing the examination hall.
...
(The following scene takes place in the Broadcast Hall, outside of my perspective, and is thus narrated in the 3rd person.)
In the Broadcast Hall.
"If I'm not mistaken, Dekan clearly finished writing the exam paper but deliberately played with those two demons?"
"How dare he! A Tier 2 Priest playing like this in a Tier 4 Shadow World?"
"My goodness... he managed to save the other challengers along with him!"
